Good morning.
I have a solid cold. Voice lesson is cancelled today. I can't sing unless you want to call a window repairman.
What are you up to today?
Dinner will likely be tacos. DH can microwave the ingredients. He might make gyoza and rice, instead.
What's on your menu?
How is everyone doing?
What is your plan for the week?
jeremysgirl , I hope that you get some good news at work this week. The sooner the better.
I hope to kick this cold, quickly. Tmw I have an appt, because my medical device isn't working, but the battery is still OK. So, they're trying to figure out if there's a way to reprogram the device to higher settings. We'll see after that.
Wishing everyone a happy, easy, contented week ahead.

Good evening, Today has been really frustrating for me. I need to book follow up appointments for my brain surgery, so I started with calling the radiology department where I’ve had my other scans. No, can’t make appointment as there isn’t an order in my file. Ask if I can make appointment and get referral from my GP (I am seeing her tomorrow) - no’ it has to be internal not the LMU system. Email neurosurgery department, asking how to get info on my file. Just had a call back - no’ they can’t do that anymore. New boos (not sure if Radiology or neurosurgery) has decided that they are only doing internal referrals for hospital patients, so I need to get referral from GP and make appointment at regular radiology place. Then I need to call back ASAP, as they are already booking appointments to see the neuro doctors for JANUARY! I said I was supposed to have 3 month check and she apologised and said that’s how it is. So it seems I should have booked my follow up before I even had the surgery on that timeline. Hopefully, I can get things sorted with my GP tomorrow. DH is winging his way to Gothenburg as I write, so I’ll be on my own for the week. Dinner tonight is the doggie bag I brought home from the ME restaurant we went to Saturday. I have a combination of all the mains we ordered and I also have some hummus and some red pepper dip in the fridge to eat with it. scrapmaven - I hope you are feeling better soon and that they have a solution for your device.

scrapmaven I'm so sad to read of your cold. I know you're probably used to it but it just seems like one thing on top of another. I'm asking the Gods of the Colds to give you a darn break. sueg I'm so sorry you are getting the run around. That has got to be frustrating. You want to know what my coworker said this morning? She's got a new diagnosis of lupus. It is giving her headaches and fatigue. So I can see that's going to be the new disability to fight here. I'm waiting to hear from Human Resources today. I have my complaint up to date. Tonight's dinner will be the tofu stir fry I didn't make last night.

scrapmaven , I hope your cold goes away and they have answers to get your device working. sueg , I hope you can get your appointment sorted out. Good grief! I'm skipping AquaFit this morning because I have another appointment at 11:00. I'll go tomorrow instead. Dinner will be either ribs or ham.

sueg, your gp should be able to sort it all out, so that you get your scan and see your neurologist as planned. I'm sorry that you have to go through red tape just to have your followup appointments. jeremysgirl, Are you counting the number of diseases that your coworker has? Interesting that she suddenly has this serious chronic illness right as the *#^& is hitting the fan. I wish you the best of luck today. cadoodlebug, your meme made me chuckle a bit. Enjoy your day.

I made chicken soup with wontons and veggies last night, so that will be dinner tonight. Tomorrow I will cook the chuck roast for sure. scrapmaven and sueg, I’m sorry to hear about your medical woes. Hope everything gets straightened out soon. Marina, I saw you asked about the Costco chicken pot pie the other day. It’s freshly made at the store and available in the same area as the rotisserie chicken, by the meat cases. Only sold during the cold-weather months. Be forewarned, they are gigantic. Share with someone else or prepare to eat it for days. I like them a lot but it may be slightly saltier than I would actually choose. Hard for me tell these days as I’ve lost some sense of taste from chemo, including salt for some reason. PolarGreen12, I was thrilled to see you posting last week. Please drop by more often. Try not to worry about the callback. They’re usually nothing.

Thank you, ladies. I just have a small cold. I'll be fine. PolarGreen12, I want to echo what lucyg said. Odds are that you're just fine. We're here for you. lucyg, how do you feel, overall? Are you having any other fallback from chemo other than taste, which is bad enough?

Another busy day of my own making. I started a foyer project this weekend. Now it requires painting so I need to order it. It’s too small to hire out. I have a show and a sale coming up. I can’t figure out what to put my mini enamel paintings in. They’re thicker than paper so it’s a challenge. Some I made to fit in the top of a trinket box. Those boxes are unfinished and need to be painted or stained. My niece invited me to sell some stuff in her new shop too. Still deciding on that. All 3 of these events are forcing me to get a social media presence and cards. We’ll see. I hope your cold clears quickly scrapmaven. jeremysgirl I know that coworker is a pita. Hopefully you’re out of there. sueg I’m frustrated for you. Hopefully your gp figures it out. Veggie burritos tonight. Happy Monday!

Happy Monday! scrapmaven Sorry to hear you are still sick. I've got a horrible cough but the congestion is lessening so that's good. I coughed all night long so I had my dr call in a prescription cough syrup for me so this doesn't go into bronchitis which is typical for me. Tonight is the last night my cousins are in town so we're having dinner at my sister's house. I think we're doing bbq which isn't my favorite but I'll find something to eat. DS gets here on Friday and I've got a lot of stuff to do around the house before he gets here. Thankfully, work is pretty slow so I have time. I also need to get an oil change this week so it will be very busy jeremysgirl I'm constantly amazed by your co-worker. She is one of a kind! Hope you all have a great day!

Well I had a quiet night last night, the phone never rang..made for a long night! The surgical resident that was on doesn't call with info on added cases, she just appears, coming out of the ladies locker room which exits near the OR desk....it is startling to have her "just appear" Anyway cases were cancelled (MD ill) Four total shoulders, that left a huge hole in the schedule. But gen surgery added 4...not really an even swap.
I had a nap and some leftover squash for lunch and will go for my walk...It is a Glorious 75 degrees....Not bad for the 21st of October. Dinner will be grilled steak tips a salad and a veggie to be named later.
Scrapmaven hope you are feeling better soon sueg, Hope your GP can navigate the system and get booked what you need done...so frustrating!! cadoodlebug...that meme🤣🤣 Jeremysgirl...Of course she now has lupus....No surprise there😳😳

So, they're trying to figure out if there's a way to reprogram the device to higher settings. Sending all the positive energy your way that this gets figured out. So it seems I should have booked my follow up before I even had the surgery on that timeline. Sorry, but this did make me laugh. Mostly in the "I've dealt with my share of run around for medical bookings this year" sisterhood way and really feel your frustration. Fingers crossed your GP can sort through the new "efficiency" that has been put in place. I'm envious of your dinner. She's got a new diagnosis of lupus. Oh dear, I can't write out the words for fear of getting banned, but FFS!!! Hard for me tell these days as I’ve lost some sense of taste from chemo, including salt for some reason. I think I know where it is! Everything tastes salty to me. I can't taste garlic at all though (can smell it fine). It's frustrating when you cook to taste and can't trust your taste buds. I'm enjoying a quiet Monday doing my laundry and a few other chores. Homegrown butternut squash has been roasted and will transform into a Thai inspired peanut ginger soup for out meatless Monday dinner. I have to take the pup to an unusually late grooming appointment, so will delay errands until after dropping her off. The timing will be perfect for DD to pick her up after work which gives me time to finish the soup before they all show up hungry.

DH and I went for a 20 km bike ride along the waterfront this morning. The weather was gorgeous! After our ride, we stopped at the dry truck for lunch. I had pulled pork fries and DH had poutine. Then off to Walmart to get groceries. It was a busy morning but now groceries are away, DH is napping and I’m on the deck enjoying one of our last few nice days before it turns cold.
I applied for my Canada Pension Plan yesterday. Here in Canada, you can get it at 60 yrs or wait until 65. I turn 60 in September and already received the notification to apply. I will lose a percentage by taking it at age 60 but who knows what will happen in 5 years - might as well have the money now.
Supper will be meatballs, mashed potatoes and a veggie.

Good Morning! I was going to make a chuck roast today, but that sucker is still frozen solid. I have got to come up with a plan B. jeremysgirl I think your co-worker is addicted to Dr. Google. scrapmaven nope. And it’s high up, 6.7 inches straight up from nip. Above what most people would consider breast. It’s tiny too thankfully, .7mm. And it’s circumscribed. Everything points to fibroid or cyst. But since it was my first mammo they’re being thorough, which is good. ultrasound is Wednesday morning and then I guess it depends on that outcome. jeremysgirl you’re coworker is a piece of work huh!

What if your coworker truly has lupus? It’s a horrible disease and very difficult to diagnose. A very good friend of mine was just diagnosed with lupus and it hasn’t been a fun journey for her. So with all of you questioning her diagnosis and poking fun at someone that we don’t even know bothers me immensely.
I think we have to keep in mind that when anyone of us post something here we’re getting one side of the story. This woman has some mental health issues going on, we don’t know. We only know what’s been told to us.
This thread is no longer fun for me. Contrary to what a lot of people think there is a hierarchy here. There are certain people that are treated with kid gloves, and others who are not. Case in point Leanne. what she said about Elannah came from a place of concern and it wasn’t even a nasty post. Many people liked her post and I even posted that I agreed with her. But then jeremysgirl was not very kind to her in her response. Once again no one came to defend someone who disagreed with Jeremy’s girl. I’ve seen it a lot and I’m done. I won’t be posting here anymore.
So I hope everyone stays well and I will be in touch with a couple of you but at this point, I am no longer going to participate here not that like I said anybody cares.

bc2ca and lucyg I did not realize that chemo even messed with tastebuds. Geez, as if you need that one more thing to go with the poison. When my dad was going through chemo, he lost pretty much all sense of taste. We went out for Chinese and he covered it with Sriracha. I didn't know at that point how bad it had gotten. I asked if he wanted some food with that sauce. He said he couldn't taste the food but could get a bit of tingle and taste of the Sriracha. I still think about this and him when I use Sriracha. I feel Mondays are not a good day for me to post. I don't have dinner on Mondays. However, I might tonight. I roasted some sweet potatoes yesterday and made some roasted chickpeas. So I may make a concoction of those 2 things with some sort of sauce. Or just be too tired to do anything when I get home and just call it a day. scrapmaven danggit!! Hope you get to feeling better soon. sueg that does sound very frustrating. Dinner sounds great! jeremysgirl I would like to see the official diagnosis. Man, she is a piece of work. Knowing 2 people with lupus, it's more than just headaches and fatigue. But again, I'm not a doctor nor did I sleep at Holiday Inn last night. Stir fry sounds good. cadoodlebug, my DH will be over shortly. I do think those are 2 of his favorite dinners. And the meme!! Being from the south I say, PUH-kahn. My DD, also the quintessential southern girl says PEA-can. I tell her she is all sorts of wrong yet she continues... lucyg, I made a roast on Saturday for sliders. We had it as actual roast last night. It was good. hutchfan yum! teddyw I love a veggie burrito out but I never make them at home. All the veggie sauteing, wears me out. Tearisci I hope you can get the coughing under control. Sometimes that is the worst symptom. taylortroop do you just do the meatballs or is there any kind of sauce? I wish I could do meatballs more often. My DH just doesn't care for them. Can I just say I understand people need help but when you call the office of a church asking for help and it is something we don't do or you don't like the answer, don't call me evil (I've been called worse) or talk about me as you hang up. That really makes me giggle.

christine58 I hate to see you go. And I will say this, it's quite possible my coworker does have lupus. And that's why this morning when she announced it, not only did say I was sorry to hear that but I shared with her that my good friend also has it and has found it to be very treatable. But my coworker has had COVID, the flu twice, pneumonia, bleeding from her brain surgery site a year and a half later, an ear infection, two sinus infections and food poisoning in the last 9 months. That is not even noting how many headaches she has had in the past year. I am not without compassion but this kind of stuff has been going on for a very long time, so much so that I have had to seek out a counselor through the employee program just to deal with what's been going on. There are three issues at play here 1)incompetent management 2) an employee who is failing to work and 3) cognitive deficits that produce work that is erroneous. I'm doing the very best I can. Despite my disbelief here, I still continue to do the work and hold up my unit. I also continue to treat her with kindness which is better than the way I've been treated by her. And we will just have to agree to disagree on the issue with Leanne. I thought bringing it up the first time could be sincere. Bringing up a second time and attempting to build consensus is where I had the problem. I would have done the same if you or anyone else were the subject of it. And it is *because* there is no hierarchy. Again, I wish you wouldn't go. Frankly, I wish Leanne didn't go either. I wish she would have just apologized to elannah, given her some space, and just moved on.

I know 2 people who have lupus, my mom being one. It is a very complicated thing to diagnose. However, if you have been following the journey on this co-worker, it really has been one thing or another to put off working/being productive/etc. So maybe that is where they are all coming from. I have had my own dealings with Elannah on another board. I choose not to engage with her, or anything being said about her. Does that make me a bad person? I sure hope not. As far as hierarchy, I am new to this thread. Only about 3-4 weeks. I don't see it. The board has a hierarchy but I also believe it is what you put it. It may be what gets put back out. That's not always the case but I have seen very little of what you are talking about on this thread.
