Wish wishing her a garden variety cancer, and an easy time thru it.

One of my college friends had thyroid cancer at age 20ish in 19955/6. She had it removed, I think a couple rounds of radiation but otherwise she was back to normal life with no complications. Just the additional medication to replace thyroid function. Definitely far worse cancers to get and manage.
Best wishes her treatment is quick and straightforward.

Wishing for the best for your SIL, Katy. I too have a friend who had thyroid cancer treated some 25 years ago and has been fine ever since.

My sister had her thyroid removed 17(?) years ago. No chemo or radiation needed.
Annual bloodwork identified a tiny increase in one of the numbers they follow and they monitored her for a couple years before a tumor developed. It too was removed with no further treatment.
I wish your SIL the best of luck with her diagnosis. It must be so scary for both of you following so closely after your DB's death. {{{hugs}}}
