Good morning. Today I have a video appointment. I'll practice singing, since my voice is back and I'll do some chores. Then I want to make some labels on my Cricut. I tried last week and now I see what I did wrong. I think.
What is everyone up to this week?
We're going out for dinner w/Ods, since we never made it when we were going to go a couple weeks ago.
What's on your menu?
How is everyone doing today?
May today be easy, happy, restorative and may it go in the direction that you need.

Good Morning!
DGD's are on fall break this week so I am getting ready to go meet up with them. We are going to lunch then I will let them choose what we do for the rest of the day. Hope to get home and have some time to work on my PL album. So much scrapbooking, card making I want to do and not enough time. I need to retire!
We ended up going out to eat last night. I needed to go to the grocery store so DH said he would go with me if we went out to eat first. Didn't take much to convince me.
Dinner will be the beef tips that we didn't have last night.

I'm in panic mode ~ the last batch of photos for my crop haven't arrived. They were supposed to be here on Saturday. Thanks UPS. That's what I'll be doing today, getting ready, packing, etc. Dinner will be gumbo and a green salad. Oldie but goodie!

stormsts , I'm reminded of the outings w/my sister and grandmother. Those were such special times. Your dgd's will treasure these moments and so will you. Can you retire? Can you start planning? It really is all it's cracked up to be.
cadoodlebug, do you have enough photos to work w/if UPS is late, again?

Good evening, Not much happened here today. I woke late, then muddled around for most of the morning - did a load of laundry and a bit of knitting. I managed to get an appointment at my nail salon this afternoon, so I did all the things I needed to do outside the house in one run - recycling, nails, pick up at pharmacy and a few things at the grocery store. Once I was home it was more knitting - I just started Clue 3 of my mystery knit, and Clue 4 is out tomorrow, so I’ll be trying to get as far as possible before bedtime. I’m not managing to get a lot done in a stretch because my arm is a bit sore from my vaccinations yesterday - thankfully that’s been the only side effect.
Dinner tonight is roast root vegetables with some cheese melted over the top at the end.

I'm kind of sitting here with my nerves all tangled up. Human Resources has not gotten back to me and I need to talk to them today. My boss has scheduled a meeting tomorrow in response to some emails I sent last week. He wants to discuss the functioning of our office in person with his secretary and the assistant director/other boss in the room with me. The last meeting did not go well so I've asked Human Resources to attend. They are taking their time getting back in touch with me. And the closer it gets to tomorrow, the more nervous I become.
Jeremy has invited a friend for dinner tonight and requested lasagna, so that's what I'll be making.

Good Morning Dinner friends! I've been absent for a week or so, I've been out of town for an uncle's memorial, an aunt passed away so I extended my stay. I fly home tomorrow evening. I'm staying with my friend and spending a much time with the grandkids and family as possible.
I caught up on some of the drama that occurred while I was away, but am glad to see it ha passed. I personally enjoy every member here and never want to see anyone be offended or leave in a fury. We all say things we regret or that come out more harsh than we intend.
Dinner is up in the air, My friend doesn't really cook, and I've eaten out WAY too much while I've been here, I could use a nice homecooked meal, but likely won't be until I'm home.
Wishing everyone a great day!!

teddyw , I hope that your cold starts to get much better, fast. austnscrapaddict , I'm sorry to hear about both your aunt and uncle. May their memories be for a blessing to all who knew them. sueg , mystery knitting sounds like a lot of fun. May you not have any side effects apart from the sore arm. jeremysgirl , can you tell your boss that you need to ensure that HR is at the meeting? Will your coworker be there, as well? Your boss has to abide by HR policies and state/federal labor laws whether or not he wants to do so. May the meeting be in your favor. You need relief from this chaos at work.
hutchfan, make sure that you do something enjoyable today, as well as chores.

Wow scrapmaven - this hit exactly right this morning. I had a pretty rough evening. I like to keep busy, but when things get too far gone, I have a tendency to catastrophize. Was doing that last night and then put on a sad, terrible movie - I really don't know what i was thinking! Luckily my absolutely rock star husband talked me into watching some silly fluff before bed so that I actually got some sleep instead just continuing to dwell. I went for an extra long walk today and restorative is exactly what I need today! Tacos tonight, take care all!

Happy Wednesday!
I had a horrible night last night. My dog decided that 2am was a perfectly acceptable time to wake up and start barking and running around. I let him out thinking he must really have to go but then he would not come back to bed and just barked and barked. I tried repeatedly to get him to settle down and he wouldn't so I've been working since about 6:30 this morning. I've gotten pretty much everything done that I need to today so there will be a nap and a movie or so this afternoon before I go and pick up my grocery order. He's snoozing away on the couch without a care in the world.
Dinner tonight will either be TJ's chicken piccata or lasagna. I'm leaning toward the lasagna since I had chicken pot pie last night. Those ready made meals are great for when I just want to pop something in the oven.
Hope you all have a great day!

Happy Wednesday! Having a rare slow morning here. Plan to do a bit of quilting once I have gotten ready. Not visiting DH today as I have an afternoon appointment with my corneal specialist. That means dilated eyes so no driving out to see him. DD will go this afternoon instead.
DH is still progressing. They have gotten him an electric wheelchair to use and that has lifted his spirits. I think he's a couple of weeks away from standing alone, but considering how far he has come that is still good news. Currently dealing with a difficult case worker who seems intent on sending him home for skilled nursing. Despite our insurance saying to ask for an extension as needed and they will approve it (we are fortunate to have excellent coverage)! Skilled nursing will give him half the PT and OT time and delay his progress so we aren't interested in it as long as insurance is willing to let him stay where he is.
Meanwhile I am currently getting ready for Quilt Festival next week! One of my favorites weeks of the year! I have classes on Monday and Tuesday, then will be staying down there Wednesday until Saturday afternoon. The dog will be going to the fancy dog ranch boarding facility. Will try to check in while I am there next week.
Last night I made all the parts for a taco bowl. Dinner tonight will be either that or a bowl of the potato corn chowder I made Monday night. Both turned out really well. Trying to eat real meals this week rather than just nibbling all evening.

I didn’t make my barbacoa (basically Mexican pot roast) yesterday because I can’t even remember why anymore. Was out for hours, anyway. I’d like to make it today if I get home early enough. (Been out since 6:30 am, who knows when I’ll get home.) I thought retirement was supposed to be restful or something. Good luck tomorrow, jeremysgirl.

DH and I both had our flu shot and the Covid shot yesterday afternoon. We’ve had no ill effects except a slightly sore arm. I am a bit tired this afternoon but that could be because I was up early and driving my mom around.
Took my mom to her eye appt to get a shot in her eye. Then had to take her to get her B12 shot and flu shot because she can’t drive after the needle in the eye. Home now and going to chill for a bit.
We are going out for supper tonight to celebrate the year anniversary of DHs heart surgery. Really just a great excuse to go out for a nice dinner!

**GypsyGirl** I love Quilt Market and Festival week, I'll be at the quilt how on Thursday, I go with two or three friends, but maybe we can grab a coffee? I usually drive to my friends house in the suburbs on Wednesday afternoon/evening, work from the friends house on Friday and sew until Sunday, but since I've been out of town, I'm not sure how I will handle the week. I enjoy the anticipation and sneak peeks on Instagram and in my inbox.

cadoodlebug, do you have enough photos to work w/if UPS is late, again? Yes, I have about 46 page layouts ready but I really wanted to be able to do Iceland too. I also have this neat Creative Memories Envelope Maker that I'll use to make envelopes if I run out of layouts. Since I make all my greeting cards, I've been making personalized envelopes that coordinate. It's quite fun. They are taking their time getting back in touch with me. And the closer it gets to tomorrow, the more nervous I become. Good grief what is wrong with them? Do what you have to do and skip the meeting if they don't respond.

ARRGGHHH!! I had a response to several of you and I hit something wrong and it is gone. There is no dinner for me as I am on the choir night of the week. But if I didn't have that I would want something cheesey, pastaey, carby, creamy. And then finish it with something warm and gooey sweet for dessert. All the things that don't play well with me. I am in the emotional state where I know why I am wanting all that but I need my head to take over and tell me to take a step back. I did grab a loaf of italian bread and spinach artichoke dip yesterday for lunch. So while I seem to be in it's good graces I may have it later this afternoon as linner. I had a good toasty breakfast this morning and not really hungry now. scrapmaven I am glad to hear your voice is back and you will be singing. I took voice lessons in HS when my mom wanted me to do all the pageant things. I guess it keeps my in choir. I love your ending mantra today! stormsts I love beef tips with sauteed onions and peppers. Do you do a gravy with yours? cadoodlebug thank you so much for finding my broom! I'll be by later to pick it up. Our pastor is from LA and his wife makes up gumbo, etoufee, etc and brings it up for women's lunches and potlucks. It is always good. sueg I love roasted veggies and would have no problem making them a meal. However, DH would be asking where the meat is. jeremysgirl I just hate that you are having to go through all of this and it just keeps going. I hope you hear back from HR and they are there. This makes me somewhat ok with not having an HR. With just 3 of us here, we just hash it out, if there is ever anything to hash and there really hasn't been. But for the 10 years before that, it was no use. If there was a problem, it was our word against his. And the members and personnel committee were just so in awe of him and how he was just such a great man. Except to the folks in the office. He was military and that said it all for him. I would like some lasagna though. Sounds heavenly. austnscrapaddict I am sorry to hear of your loss. I hear you on homecooked meals. Vacations are nice for us to get food we don't normally always get but I am always happy to get home to cook something. Not that you are on a vacation... hutchfan I did green beans and potatoes Sunday night. I need to remember to do a lemon pepper chicken. That used to always be somewhere in the rotation. Enjoy! teddyw enjoy your burrata? This is in RE to my posting yesterday that I am not a burrata fan. Or, I just haven't had it the right way yet. I may try again. Darcy Collins hugs. DH will always take a taco night. Tearisci our youngest dog has been doing that during the summer. We (my DD and I) like to say she is talking to the ghost. DH is not pleased with that convo. We have varmints, in the city, that she seems to hear when all is quiet and dark. Enjoy what you decide on. **GypsyGirl** glad to hear the continuation of progress on your DH. Enjoy whatever real meal you decide on. lucyg I've done barbacoa in my crockpot. Is that an option for your busy days? taylortroop enjoy your celebration! It is deserved.

I am just back from a loverly walk around the lake...It is another GLORIOUS 70+ degree day, sadly the last in our forecast for the foreseeable future!! I got an iced coffee at Starbucks and picked up a couple things at the market. I decided on chicken thighs after reading the thread, and craftymom posted several recipes, so I am making the pan roasted chicken thighs( a PW recipe) I'll make a salad to go with and perhaps another veggie.
austnscrapaddict, sorry about your aunt and uncle. Jeremysgirl...I hope you hear from HR.....

I'd love to be there with you! Have the bestest time. It would be wonderful if you could be! Just ask my friends! **GypsyGirl** I love Quilt Market and Festival week, I'll be at the quilt how on Thursday, I go with two or three friends, but maybe we can grab a coffee? OMG! YES! I would love to meet for a coffee or even just an amble through some of the quilts! I'll pm you my cell number. The only thing on my calendar Thursday is a class on Thursday from 2-5 pm. It's the Yorkshire Buttons class taught by Catherine Redford. **GypsyGirl** glad to hear the continuation of progress on your DH. Enjoy whatever real meal you decide on. Thank you! It's been a difficult journey, but as long as he is making progress we have hope! Just a friendly reminder jeremysgirl and I will be very excited to see your photos after the show. We are very excited! It's so nice to know people actually look forward to my photo thread each year. I love doing it because it makes me go through all the exhibits (there are over 1,000 quilts this year!) and see all of them. I just wish all of you could come and see them in person. Now that would be a heck of a pea meet up!

But I was so fascinated with this beautiful artwork that I'd never seen on a QUILT! I hope your insurance will continue to let DH stay at the facility! When I worked in rehab, my boss, the doctors, and social workers were always discussing the fight to get insurance and/or Medicare to pay for our patients who NEEDED the intensive, inpatient care. I'm about to go run a bunch of errands, then I hope to sit outside with my wonderful book that I've been glued to for a few days. It's one of those books that you don't want to end!!! I have been LOVING sitting outside again---I HATE summer so much, and wonder how I used to sit outside in that heat, plus all the BUGS and mosquito bites!

I agree with everyone who said that retirement rocks ... it really does!!! In my case, it sucks, because I actually still want to work or at LEAST volunteer, I just physically can't. I've looked for volunteer opportunities that I can do on my computer, but.....I wanna volunteer in person like I used to. **edit---oops, there IS something very cool that I can do at home. During quarantine, my dear Dad and I sent cards/ letters to nursing home residents. I need to do that again! Soooo many of them have no visitors----ever! I realllllllly miss taking Meaty and Sophie to visit the residents---omg, the JOY they brought to those precious residents!!!

I've been cleaning out the dessert drawer of the freezer. A few unidentifiable objects were tossed in the trash but I can't believe I discovered a ziplock with my mom's chocolate chip cookies! Well, technically they were made by my sis and niece using mom's oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe that we baked at least one double batch every week growing up. Mom was in care for the last 13 years of her life and when she passed I finally remembered to ask sis if she had the recipe. The sneaky little sneakster said she'd look. She knew very well that she a handwritten recipe card from mom. When we gathered to spread her ashes, sis gave us all a copy along with freshly baked cookies. I thought we'd finished them long ago, so finding them was a lovely surprise. I have a crafting getaway in three weeks and am trying to decide what I will work on. A Paula Cheney Christmas kit will go with me for sure but it won't take up the whole weekend. Dinner tonight is a super quick salmon and asparagus under the broiler.

Hi friends!
I had my second opinion ENT visit yesterday. I brought all of my labs from this year, what I've been going through since January, and all of the CT results I've ever had on my sinuses (3 separate ones, so not too many).
The doctor has a student intern, so she asked me a few questions before I saw the actual doctor. After she stepped out of the room to brief him, I snuck in a quick text to a friend saying that the intern was more helpful than the actual ENT I saw before! The doctor was super -- he looked through all of my paperwork, we went over the imaging I've had done before (he also had access to the actual images), and gave me a look over.
He said that there are two ends of the spectrum: one is doing absolutely nothing (what the first ENT wanted to do) and the other is going to the OR to open up my sinuses some more. We landed at the decision of right in the middle: trying a different nasal spray than I've used before (honestly, if he had said he wanted me to get ear tubes, I would've done it right then and there, no questions asked). It's definitely an interesting spray, as you blow into one part of it while squeezing the bottom. It gets the spray farther into nasal cavities than a regular nasal spray (think Flonase on steroids). I got a sampler from the office, and am waiting for the specialty pharmacy to call to confirm details, coverage and cost, etc., for getting more of it. All that said, I am thrilled to finally be getting answers and feel like I'm being listened to! I'll have a follow-up with him in 3 months.
I also did the labs I couldn't do this morning since DH needed a ride to work. I saw my primary care physician as those were finishing up - it's so convenient to have their lab on-site/in office. She was pleased to hear the visit went well. I should have most of those results tomorrow. Apart from that, I'm just counting down the days til DH and I have our mini vacation and am working on getting everything put together for a new system we're using for work.
Dinner this week was a chicken and soup recipe that turned into chicken and rice casserole because DH added quite a bit of rice. It's still really tasty!

Hamburger Helper, it’s great, but keep in mind it only works if the hamburger is ready to accept that it needs help.
