I'm home again today ... such is life ... hopefully I will work tomorrow! I agree with everyone who said that retirement rocks ... it really does!!! Today I have done a load of laundry and gone to the grocery store ... My mum is coming over after Bingo to hang out and then we will decide what we want for dinner ... it's Wing Wednesday at the pub so it will be busy ... we need to go somewhere else ... I hardly slept at all last night and I can't seem to nap today ... stupid insomnia! You take Zopiclone. I will be in the same position when it stops working for me, too. I hope to have 2 more years. I am not holding my breath though. Dad is home so he said he would go get groceries later. Yay. I went to volunteer today at the middle school and asked the office if I could sign in. Their response was if you would like to. wtf? They aren’t taking the situation seriously. We were like 12 adults in the school and they never said anything. It’s weird.

I've been cleaning out the dessert drawer of the freezer. Please don't tell my DH that there is such a thing as a dessert drawer! Hamburger Helper, it’s great, but keep in mind it only works if the hamburger is ready to accept that it needs help.

I did get up, walk the dog. and dh is gone all day to visit a friend up on the russian river.. a couple of hours away. my joints and muscles are acky.. so did try conditioning class.. did sit down for some of it. went to trader joes and home.. slight fever and feel "off". not covid. so I do have dinner stuff in fridge but may get takeout.
a typical retirement story: in august, my dh need a med prescription and he was away in idaho. three bottles. I picked up them, mailed one to him and all is well. so last week he asked me where the other two bottles were. I said.. look here and here and here.. no luck. I said I will look when I get home. so I did look at all the usual spaces I would put something important like that. no luck. today, since he was gone, I decided I would do a thorough look.. and figured it would be by his desk or in the bedroom. found them in his bathroom bag. he didn't see them when he was looking. problem solved.
retirement is losing your mind and looking around for it (haha)..

naby64, my barbacoa recipe is for the slow cooker. I just haven’t been able to get it going in the mornings before I leave the house. Going to try again tomorrow. cadoodlebug, great news! I had faith your photos would show up today, and I was right. Enjoy your weekend. bc2ca, I need a dessert drawer in my freezer.

@rhymeswithpurple thank goodness you got an answer and plan. naby64 I like mild cheese so bursts and mozzarella are perfect for me. We didn’t eat it though because I’m still working on my foyer project and I picked up my grandson early from daycare. We went to the playground. My dd was supposed to go to Justin Timberlake tonight but it was canceled. So she picked him up after work. scrappintoee my nephew is in medical school and he had his dog trained & certified to visit hospitals /nursing homes. I can’t imagine he has time to do it now. I forgot to mention that my dd had a rebound anaphylactic reaction at the hospital when she was accused of faking by that dr. The more I think about him I get pissed. He was a jerk in school too. At least I live 3 hours away from them. I may have to try making the barbacoa beef

We are having Keg burgers and I cannot wait to eat them! I am also roasting a tray of vegetables because I like them cooked that way.
There may be a traitor among us. Someone waited staring patiently at the front door for Grandpa to come in. He really seemed to have missed my dad. He is ignoring me, though.🙄 He forgets who feeds him and cuddles him.
I have a surprise for myself. I ate every meal in the house while my dad was away. I could have gone out for something and I didn’t. The parents have taken trips and my sister and I had every meal out for 3 weeks. That was a lot of restaurant food. I didn’t mind cooking which is the weird thing because I usually am not a fan. I am doing well at it!

Rider down, love it, stole it. Hamburger Helper, it’s great, but keep in mind it only works if the hamburger is ready to accept that it needs help. My BFF’s husband makes HH and Tuna Helper all the time. She says it is delicious. Other BFF likes it too. There is nothing wrong with eating it if it tastes good, right? We eat to live not live to eat.

I have been ill since Sunday and went to the doctor today it could be something that just needs to run its course or a few other things that require testing. They wanted to do a CT but my insurance requires pre approval which could take two weeks. Insurance today...
I made congee for my dinner to have with some rotisserie chicken. I have wanted to make it before in my rice cooker (zojirushi❤️) and so DH picked up the ingredients for me. He took off work this morning to take me in which was so sweet of him.

I know someone who desperately needed to gain 20 and they gained about 45. They do look better now. I tried it and ate everything everywhere. It does work, though.

teddyw I am so grateful! Hopefully this will work and I won't need to go back to square one. But even if I do have a step back, at least I know this doctor is actually listening. Marina I hope it's nothing serious! Feel better!

I made tuna mornay for DSO and I, and chicken mornay for DS on Wednesday night. I had bought some potato chips earlier, one was BBQ Ribs flavour and the other was Chilli Lime flavour. I crushed them up and used them in the topping with panko breadcrumbs, and it was so good! I'm actually eating rechauffe for lunch, as we speak. DSO is at a lunch with his dad today, for 50 year MCC (Melbourne Cricket Club) members. It is being catered for by Guy Grossi, who is a famous chef here. I have eaten at two of his restaurants in Melbourne, and the food was out of this world! DSO keeps texting me with the food so far, and to say I am jealous is an understatement. It's like they've picked all of my favourite things for the menu. So far: Bar Snacks: Arincini Balls with caramelised onion; Vol-au-vent with roasted beetroot and goat cheese; Smoked mac and cheese croquettes And they're not even up to the entrees (starters) yet!

All that said, I am thrilled to finally be getting answers and feel like I'm being listened to! I'll have a follow-up with him in 3 months. Yeah! So glad you are being listened to. Please don't tell my DH that there is such a thing as a dessert drawer! bc2ca, I need a dessert drawer in my freezer. You are too funny! FWIW, I don't hide things in the freezer but 99% of the time the kids will only get ice cream and ignore the other stuff. DH is rarely looking for sweets but the main reason the bread drawer is twice as big as the dessert drawer. He loves his breads. If I take sweets out and leave them on the island, everyone nibbles away but they never go in to get something themselves (except ice creams). I made congee for my dinner to have with some rotisserie chicken. When we were first married we lived over a great congee place. I haven't had it in years. Hope it helps with your recovery. It's like they've picked all of my favourite things for the menu. I can't believe you didn't get to go with them!? Not fair.

I am heavier than I want to be but the fact that I have a small stomach and can't eat a lot at a time helps a lot (gastric bypass) ... I'm a grazer and cannot eat sugary foods without feeling really sick ... joy!

rymeswithpurple, now you can finally get somewhere and fix your issue. Thank goodness you found a doctor who truly sees you. Marina, I'm sorry to hear that you're having a health issue. I hope that you feel better, quickly and that it's nothing more than a pesky virus. That you're so ill now and it would take at least 2 weeks to get the CT scan is ludicrous. What is happening to healthcare? We used to get what we needed the moment we needed it. I blame both the insurance and drug companies.

That said something is giving me grief and telling me I need to eat again. I think I am ok thanks, stomach. I could drink a protein drink though.

sueg I love roasted veggies and would have no problem making them a meal. However, DH would be asking where the meat is. I am fairly lucky with DH that way. Firstly, he is often away, so I can eat what I want then, and secondly - he was the one who suggested we have at least one vegetarian meal each week at the start of this year, and seems to be OK with me increasing our meat-free quota. sueg , mystery knitting sounds like a lot of fun. I am really enjoying it. The designer (Stephen West) does a shawl mystery every October, but this is the first time I've ever joined in. We first received an introductory page, with info about yarn (amounts and colors), needle size and about the kits available at his yarn shop. Other yarn dyers also put out 'ready to go' yarn kits with the right type and quantity of yarn. Since October 3rd, we have been emailed (or get through Ravelry's pattern update system) a new 'Clue' each Thursday, so that pattern builds over 4 weeks. I was a bit late starting, as the first clue came through when we were driving to Venice and I didn't have much time for a few days there. I am pleased that I am almost 'caught up' - I should get Clue 3 done today or maybe tomorrow. I am going to try not to peek at the pattern or video for Clue 4 until I'm finished Clue 3.

I've done some CALs but I always get a pic of the full project before starting.

This is the 15th year and some have been quite ‘interesting’ shall we say. I think that’s why I’ve been a bit reluctant to jump in and knit one in real time! This year is, I think, quite pretty and wearable - at least so far.
