jeremysgirl Sunday I came down ill affecting my lower abdomen. It may be just something that needs to run its course. If I'm not better next week I will get a CT. My pain level is better but I'm not back to normal.

I married for love once. I learned. And I have my own money. Please know this wasn't a slam on anyone and if anyone took it that way my sincerest apologies. This was something really, really important to ME growing up in a family where there was one path - it's hard for my kids to even understand that yes, I was the first of 34 cousins to go to college and the first of every single women I knew to not be a stay at home mom. Ok that's not true, as a few friend's mom's worked, but it was NOT typical. It was a narrative that really bothered me as a kid and was one of the things that I really emphasized - pick your own path and be sure you can get there on your merits - a partner will be someone to enhance all the amazing things YOU do! Not something or someone necessary for your dreams. I'll hop off my soap box now. My ex-husband continues to be the stereotypical Japanese salaryman drinking and smoking himself half blind. My money had to be my own. It does piss him off when I travel.

bc2ca , I looked at a couple of the videos on PURL Soho. Thank you so much. She makes it very clear and really shows you how to do it, repetitively, which is what I need. My learning disability revolves around spatial relations and visual processing, so I need precise instructions and I need to do it in order to master it. Thank you.
tmarschall , Do you store the pie filling in your freezer? If so, how long does it store? I love to make apple tartlets.
taylortroop , our pets are very clever aren't they? It's amazing what they can do when we're not looking. karenlou, I'd love to see photos of those stockings if you are willing to share. What a labor of love. I used half of the filling today in an enormous pie 🥧. I have plans for the rest in galettes. It will keep about a week or so in the fridge. If I'm not goibg to use it I will either make a pie and freeze the whole thing, or if I don't have time ti make pie dough, I will line a pie plate with plastic wrap. Pour filling onto plastic and wrap up once frozen, pop it out of the tin and place in freezer ziplock in freezer. Then when I'm ready to make a pie, I can peel off the plastic wrap and slide the frozen puck of filling into the pie crust, top crust or crumble. and bake. It will need additional bake time if I want to go right into oven, or it can defrost in the crust in the fridge and bake for the regular time.

So I have a big problem. None of my clothes fit. The big clothes are Lululemon pastels. The smaller clothes are too small. I don’t have a dress yet and I am going out for dinner tomorrow to the place we had the kids’ wedding. I went to a club last night in yoga pants. We are all women and forgive everything but what am I going to do?

sueg sounds like you found some good ones for Sophia. My ds loved Egypt as well when he was little. He devoured the books and good tell us all about things at the Tut exhibit. My older DS - Sophia's dad - was totally into Egypt and dinosaurs as a kid, and he is passing the love onto the girls! They have been to 3 touring Egypt exhibitions this year, all slightly different. One was in Sydney and we made a family holiday of it at easter, one was in Melbourne, where they live and the 3rd in Canberra, where younger DS is. scrapmaven - I know someone recommended Purl Soho for knitting tutorials, but another I really like is Very Pink Knits on You Tube. She has a whole series (10 videos I think) for beginners, including some she has done in slow motion. One thing I would definitely recommend is finding videos in the same style you knit - are you 'English style' (hold the working yarn in your right hand) or 'Continental' (working yarn in left hand)? It's a lot easier to follow someone who makes the same hand movements that you do, at least as a beginner.

Happy Friday! scrapmaven - that instructor sounds like a mess. Not all creatives make good instructors, nor do they always make good business owners. If you want to continue, I would just zoom in on the class. But since you haven't paid, I'd seriously consider bailing on this one. DH has been making great progress this week with PT. Baby steps but good progress towards standing on his own. This afternoon is going to be stressful and my stomach has been in knots all morning. The rehab he is in wants to discharge him to home care tomorrow. We are not set up for that and are not interested in it. Insurance is telling them to request an extension, but they seem reluctant to do so. There is a meeting with the care team at 1 pm in DH's room today. The other option is to see if another inpatient rehab would take him, or move him to skilled nursing facility where he would just get half the PT/OT he currently gets. Both of those will take time to accomplish. Would appreciate any good thoughts and prayers as we deal with this issue today. No idea what dinner will be, but will try to post this evening with an update on the situation. Usually it is the insurance that wants to discharge "too soon". When that happens, the patient has 24 (maybe 48) hours to call and appeal. The rehab would have provided the number to the patient or the family. If the rehab is wanting to discharge, they may be at the limit of their scope of practice. If he is in inpatient rehab at the hospital, that usually has a finite time limit. The goal of inpatient rehab is to get them out of the hospital. If you can have him moved to a SNF, I would do that. My MIL received services 5 times per week between OT and PT when she was at the one we sent her to after back surgery. You can talk to the therapists there about the fact that you dont feel he is ready to come home, let them know your limitations in caring for him (if he needs help transferring and you are physically unable to do so, etc). They will do everything in their power to keep him as long as they can get insurance to cover. And again, you can buy a little more time when insurance tries to push him out by appealing. Whatever Medicare my MIL had would have allowed them to keep her longer. Im not familiar enough with medicare to know what that was. My son is an OT at a SNF, so if you have any questions, I can ask.

Update on the meeting yesterday: The meeting went well, especially when the case manager started off with the fact they had requested an extension until Oct 31 that morning. I also spoke at length with our BCBS case manager and while she cannot guarantee they will pay the extension, she feels we have a good shot based on DH's stay of 104 days in hospital. If insurance does not cover the extra days we have agreed to pay the cost. However, I have faith that the cost will be approved. They are still pushing home care as the next step but after much discussion with DH and DD, we are probably going to have him transferred to a skilled nursing facility. The PT/OT times will be less with either option, but we will look into paying out of pocket for additional sessions. Has anyone ever done that successfully? I have talked to two that are both much closer to our home and come highly recommended. Fingers crossed that one of them has space for him next week! Thanks to everyone for all their messages of support, and the thoughts and prayers. It has meant the world to me. Usually it is the insurance that wants to discharge "too soon". Thank you for responding! Helpful information for sure! We are currently talking to a couple of SNF facilities. The team at rehab is encouraging home care over SNF but while we would love to have DH back home, it's just not going to work for us right now. Once he is able to at least walk with a walker, then we will bring him home. I am glad to hear you were happy with SNF care for your MIL. If we come up with more questions I'll be sure to ask. We aren't using Medicare as DH is still fully employed and we are fortunate to have excellent medical coverage.

Omg I had a Hail Mary black dress with sequins. Kinda fancy but will do and my size. I'm a huge believer in having a few very forgiving outfits in the closet. Glad you found something, but next time you're shopping keep an eye out for something you love and feel fabulous in!
