Is this a new trend? I’ve notice mushrooms in stamp/ die sets, ephemera. I’ve seen them on notebooks and Christmas cards. Usually the mushrooms are red or blus and often they’re polka dotted. Im always late to the trends party so just curious. Is anyone using these on cards or layouts?

Haha! If I am noticing them, this has prob been a trend for awhile. I had seen them until recently only as cute little houses and habitats for my favourite creatures--the gnomes. And fall or hiking collections always had a few. But now they seem to be everywhere! We got a huge box of 49&Market as our freebie at our crop, and our table mates were commenting on all the mushrooms, especially in the diecut packs. And I had to work really hard not to have some Spellbinders 3-D mushroom embossing folders in one of the store bins from following me home...

I noticed them too. I figured it was the newest thing of the moment, season, etc... like owls, bicycles, flowers on everything, gnomes, etc.. I hope that all the other companies, designers, etc.... do NOT follow this trend. I suppose everyone could take a walk through some woods, forest, by the river, wherever mushrooms grow, etc.... and have a photo shoot with mushrooms. Just think of all the photo shoot possibilities (sarcasm intended!)......kissy face an inch from the mushrooms, laying on one's belly with hand propped under your chin-by the mushrooms, pointer finger pointing at the mushrooms, holding a "I love mushrooms sign" by the mushrooms, etc...

Yes a new trend but I think they can be a useful addition to generic embellishments like stars or arrows or flowers

I'd rather have mushrooms than llamas. At least I can tuck them in with flowers and leaves.
I'm noticing them in general decor, too.

I just went on an outdoor fieldtrip, and actually have mushroom photos. Of course, in my brain, mushroom photos with mushroom embellishments would be too much and I probably would not use them... but that's a me problem.

artisticscrapper, isn't it funny the way new trends/icons are chosen? Someone somewhere probably gets big bucks coming up with the new "thing". I remember mushrooms being a popular icon when I was young (1960s-70s) so I guess what is old becomes new again. Except for me - I'm still old.

Mushroom foraging and spotting is having a moment! And yes, they are everywhere in design too and I love it. They can be botanical, or witchy, or adorable homes for gnomes and fairies. They can be cute or realistic or poisonous-looking. An artist I love draws meow-shrooms (fungi with cat faces) which I have as a washi tape. Mushrooms are great when you’re sick of flowers everywhere - a card or page with leaves and mushrooms is much more gender neutral than bunches of flowers. Natural elements are always in style. Maybe it helps that I live in the damp - they feel very seasonally appropriate to me. And I know tons of people who go mushrooming and have fungi/fun guy 🍄 bumper stickers. I just got served a mushroom identifier app banner ad as I was typing this

The 49 and Market nature line has mushrooms and I used it on my outdoor layouts I created this weekend. They fit in the colour palette of greens and browns of my photos. grammadee I also nearly bought some mushroom stamps, dies, embossing folders.

grammadee I also nearly bought some mushroom stamps, dies, embossing folders. There were a couple of SETS--dies and embossing folders--that REALLY wanted to follow me home... One was shaped like an arch I think. Good thing my gnomes were safe upstairs in my room--if THEY had seen that set, I would have had no choice but to grab it up!

I'd rather have mushrooms than llamas. At least I can tuck them in with flowers and leaves. Yes! I did not understand that one. At least with the other animals they are a little more common. I think owls, foxes, and most forest creatures are in most of the world. I heard yesterday squirrels are in every country. Not sure if that's true but aren't llamas like only in zoos and South America? And they were always in outfits. The llamas I've seen (there are two that live off the rail trail we ride often -- or they're alpacas I have no idea) just hang out in their regular fur and hooves. No blankets. Sometimes the horses they're with have shoes on but I don't know why. Maybe an injury.

I feel like it was about a year ago where it was in fashion/textiles, so probably makes sense that it has come to paper now. My one designer friend was very into the mushrooms last year and is in the know of these types of trends. But I have seen them popping up in more lines and embellished with some on a masculine ancestry page.

I have loved mushroom motifs since I was a child due to my mother's 4 peg knitting spool being in the shape of one. It is now part of the decor in my craft room. I have bought mushroom washi and 49 & Market Cut Elements. I live in a place where autumns are beautiful so I always have pictures that'll go with them.

This is one trend that I like. I like mushroom hunting in winter. But I can see how they wouldn’t be everyone’s favorite.

They've been around in decor more often the past few years, I've noticed, because one of my kids really loves them and they have a mushroom throw and some fake mushrooms in their room. But I agree I remember when they were popular back in the 60s/70s too. Back then they were more earth tones, and these days they seem more brightly colored---at least from what I've seen.

Mushrooms are having a moment everywhere. Decor stores are full of mushroom lamps, pillows, footstools, trinket boxes, etc. They are on mugs and aprons and wall art.
The red spotty ones remind me of the Smurfs. ☺️

I actually hate mushrooms so I’ve noticed them. I won’t buy anything with mushrooms. I skipped Ali Edwards nature story kit because it had mushrooms. lol

Mushrooms are currently trending in fashion, home decor, papercrafting, etc. It's a natural extension of the popular gnomes, florals, & insects. Personally, the only gnomes & mushrooms I like are The Smurfs characters & homes!

I don't get the llama icons unless you've visited a petting zoo or actually have a farm with llamas. I have nothing against them; it just seems odd that they would pop up randomly in a sb lo. I feel the same way about the water buffalo ? that seems to be popular right now. I very rarely run across a water buffalo in real life.

I love foraging and have tons of mushroom decor in my house, so I'm all for this trend...I just wished there were more edible mushrooms in the designs 😅

That was my favorite cartoon when I was a kid. LOVED watching Saturday morning cartoons, and during the years when the Smurfs were on TV, for me, that show was the highlight! (But I confess that I don't get the gnome trend at all. It's totally puzzling to me.)

I remember mushrooms being a popular icon when I was young (1960s-70s) so I guess what is old becomes new again. Except for me - I'm still old. My mom had embroidered mushrooms on the bottom of her bell bottoms in the 70s, that's what I always think of when I see the mushrooms in scrapbooking and cardmaking supplies. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy, so I'm a fan. I was so fascinated by that embroidery.

When I see what’s trending (insert llamas) I am glad I don’t follow trends.
