Can anyone recommend a resume coach/writer?
One Wednesday last week my husband was let go after 24 years with the same company in a corporate reorganization. So he is looking for a resume coach/writer.
Any help would be appreciated as well as good job hunting vibes. Needless to say it's been a stressful week.

Oh man, I’m so sorry. I feel your pain…I was let go 6 years ago due to a reorganization after being with the company for 20 years. As part of the reorganization the company provided us with a service that helped us network and provided coaching. Are you in WA state?

He gets severance pay & that is it. No other help. We feel lucky he got what he did. |

Wishing your DH is his job search. Wow and you just moved, hope all is well!! Thank you. We are ok and will be. We didn't move for the job, thankfully, as it was remote for a company in Alaska. It just was a huge shock. Nobody saw the layoffs coming, especially not the people that they let go. Thank you again. |

I was laid off in May as corporate was combining several smaller offices into a big one in another state. I’m in WA and corporate hired Right Management to help us for 2 months. They were a lot of help to get my resume updated and knew what words to use to get a resume noticed. The lady I worked with said most companies use AI to scan resumes. Since there are so many fake job posting, the lady I worked with suggested I go on the company’s actual website to apply instead of applying through Indeed for example. She also said you should never have to pay upfront for anything.

I also used a career counselor which I found to be tremendously helpful in understanding what I was looking for and how much toxicity I had been putting up with for years. I would not have the job I have today (I'm on day 2 of training we're on break which is why I'm peaing lol) if not for the work I did with her.

I am so sorry. Job hunting is so stressful. The one I have been using is specific for teachers trying to get jobs outside of education so would more than likely not be helpful, but I will say that since getting on LinkedIn there are MANY people offering this service. I would help him create an account on LinkedIn and then start searching for the job markets he would be hoping for. You will be able to find several people that offer the service and maybe find someone that he likes.

What does he do?
I'd suggest he look for corporate placement firms who place in his field in your area. Often they partner with resume coaches, interview coaches, etc. and can best recommend the right people.
