Overall I'm not a head-in-the-sand person when it comes to news events. But I cannot stand it at this point. I have banned my dh from watching the news in the living room where I sit with my books and my laptop. Don't worry, he has other comfortable options if he feels like he must watch. I've also banned him from listening to his incessant talk-show radio programs in my presence. He either has to go away with it, or put his ear buds in. I don't even want to hear the stuff like "if Harris can take xyz states, and if... blah blah blah." ugh. None of them are saying anything new and I can't stand to hear them rehash it over and over and over and over and over and... I still haven't decided what I'll do on election night, except maybe drink some wine. And yes, of course I voted. And I mailed out postcards. I even helped man a voter registration table at my subway station a few months ago with a local group. But now I'm done torturing myself with all the "ifs" and possibilities and scenarios and whatevers.

Me! I can't take anymore. Every day, Trump and his minions do and say crazier and crazier shit, and I can't take hearing it all and knowing that the race is close. HOW can it be close?? I'm already seeing some of the Trumpers I am friends with writing things like "Vance 2028!" on their social media. I know who I'm voting for. At this point, I will gain nothing from watching any political stuff except more anxiety.

I know who I'm voting for Don't most people? I'm tired of all the signs littering the roads. Just cause you have 25 signs in your yard doesn't mean I'm gonna vote for your candidate. And every other ad on TV! You can't even watch a normal TV show without being blasted.

Me! I stay as far away from political anything as I can. I've researched, know what I believe, I voted, and now I don't want to hear anything from anybody. The non-stop talking, speculating, and arguing is just too much.

I find it interesting that candidates pay upwards of $60,000 to put out mailers and continue to stuff your mailbox with them when we could start to vote beginning of the month and many have. What a waste of money.
And supposedly it's supposed to stop once you vote. But I still get them as well as phone calls.
Enough. I hate it.
Research shows most are not persuaded by calls or mailers.
I really wish some of these things were illegal yet here we are.
Also I check ABC first thing in the morning and that is it. I don't before bed.
I have also silenced a ton of friends who only post political stuff.

I am not going to change who I am voting for because so and so has a sign in their yard. Likewise I am not changing my mind based off a celebrity endorsement. In fact all it does is make me dislike that celebrity regardless of their political affiliation.

I am doing my best to stay away from it all. It's hard though. Especially in my house. When I hear a certain news station on in the morning when I am getting ready, then I either turn on my Rage playlist on Spotify or CNN. This morning I had War Pigs done in a very haunting way, Labour - the cacophony, and Chappell Roan. There are a few others on the list and I am trying to build it. Not Ready to Make Nice gets loud play.
It just ramps up my anxiety in such a way it is not healthy. I know who I am voting for and I am waiting until Election Day to do it. Wearing my chucks and pearls.

I have also silenced a ton of friends who only post political stuff. I have hid a lot of friends lately. However, I hide not only those that I don't agree with but also that I agree with. They are spewing political crap multiple times per day and really need to stfu, even those that I agree with. My feed is a bit boring now so I am seeing a lot of groups/pages that may be of interest to you. Apparently FB really thinks I need to get one of those 6' nutcrackers from Walmart that you can paint yourself. I don't even have a single nutcracker in my Christmas decoration plus I am the least creative person that I know. It must be working though because last night I looked to see if any Walmart's near me have them in stock and told dh that I might have him pick one up for me.

I never, ever watch or listen to news of any kind these days. Really for years. I only read.
I can't stand to hear certain people's voices. I don't like to listen to anyone being contentious with another person - makes me feel edgy and unsettled. Can't watch reality TV for the same reason. I don't watch debates, rallies, or speeches, other than a few clips.
Reading news, even stuff I disagree with, doesn't set me on edge like hearing the same news argued over or presented as a sound bite by live media. So I'm still doing that on a limited basis.

I get texts from a conservative group about local propositions, so that guides my research to question what these are really about. How some of these props are worded, is very confusing. I think I remember there was a bill to simplify the wording of bills...lol. I read vs. watching shit, which helps my mental state.

I am not watching or reading any political news right now. It is too upsetting. I am still reading other, non-political news stories, but I cannot handle the stress of politics right now.

Speaking of phone calls, I got a text from trump's campaign, wanting me to donate or whatever. I replied fuck off and the reply text was we have removed you from our list, and will get no further texts.

My anxiety is through the roof. I mostly read but sometimes I watch PBS. I watched the last episode of Washington Week which was a mistake. They played clips of Trump and it just made me furious and sent my anxiety skyrocketing. Even the newspapers online make me furious with their cowardly decisions to not endorse. Or the different standards for coverage of Harris and Trump. I might take a break for the next 8 days or at the least, limit the news that I read.

I wish I could tune out. My mental health would improve. I feel like so many of you. I'm terrified and I'm spending way too much time on Twitter.
The trauma this man and his followers have inflicted on the country might be as worthy of a future study as the willingness of so many millions of Americans to join in a racist cult.

Not watching or reading. Not even here. Way too much negative energy and angst. I swear this board is going to implode with a Trump win.
I’m another one who has “banned” my DH from Watching or listening to any news in my presence. I am virtually “stuck” on the main floor of our house because of our young puppies. In the past, I would’ve gone upstairs and shut myself in my bedroom. Since that’s not possible , I’m making him wear his headphones to watch TV and listen to his phone. I don’t have the mental band width to handle so much negativity in this country anymore. I have decided that none of this is my problem, there’s nothing I can do about any it and I am not to blame for who wins or loses. I have accepted the outcome, before it’s even happened. It has given me a sense of peace and I want to keep that way.

I agree about not watching the political stuff. I have made my choice, I voted early and I am done with it all. I also agree about the Nutcrackers. Nutcrackers don't mean Christmas to me (yes, I'm aware of the connection between the story/play but it doesn't interest me, probably because I've seen it too many times. Give me trees, stars, wreaths, angels, the Holy Family or other things before Nutcrackers! Pardon my vent, I just don't get it - especially 6 ft. tall Nutcrackers on people's porches). Just my opinion.

I've resigned myself to what will be, will be. I voted, did all I could.

We cut cable a few years ago and it broke a bad habit of having news on in the background. I watch the local evening and national news most days but cannot listen to pundits or what-if analysis. It has been awesome for my mental health.
Coming home about 6 weeks ago there was signage for the local congressional race in public spaces and I thought "oh yuck, here we go" before realizing it was way too early. Double checked the local bylaws (only allowed within 30 days of election), called the number listed and reported a three mile swath of signage. They laughed when I said I didn't care who the signage supported, I didn't want to see it until I had no choice. It was all gone in 24 hours and hasn't been replaced for this particular candidate. I also pointed out several were placed on a fire station wall.
All fliers go immediately into the recycling bin.
My brother (in Canada) has some how just become fascinated with the MAGA movement this year and is dying to get my take on it all. Even last night I had to gently remind him I have zero interest in psychoanalyzing the leader or the movement.
I know DH and DS will want to watch the election night coverage so I'll catch a bit of it but mostly plan to soak in the tub, read and avoid the endless punditry.

I'm not seeking it out, but if I come across a video, or a thread here and there I might open them/watch them.
I'm not bring up the topic at home myself very often, either.

I am trying to limit it. And by Sunday I will quit reading the news and really limit my social media use. No social media from Monday night to Wednesday morning and no news sites. I plan to take a Xanax around 6pm on Monday, read a bit and go to sleep early. Hoping I can resist looking at my phone when I wake up to pee.
I switched my in office days next week (for other reasons) but will be in the office Tuesday. Normally I prefer to WFH at all times but on Tuesday I need distraction. Plus all my coworkers are also liberal and mostly women. So we can support each other through the day.
