I never watch any channels that are 24 hour news related. I will watch a half hour of local news before Wheel of Fortune comes on and I typically listen to the Nightly News on NBC while I make dinner.

I should probably stop looking at it... it's not doing much for my mental health.
I am trying to get DH and DD to fill out and mail their ballots so the pile of political ads in our mailbox gets smaller. The political fliers have overtaken the catalogs and letters from colleges DD has no interest in that were previously annoying me.

I'm trying to cut back but am not doing a very good job of that.

I’m definitely watching less political content and have become more discerning about written content. I don’t really need any more articles about “what more does Kamala need to do?” and T’s latest repugnant words/acts.
But if I hadn’t watched some news content yesterday, I would’ve missed that voting boxes with ballots were set on fire in Washington and Oregon. For some reason, this didn’t cross my desk.

That is my part of the country. The Oregon one only lost 3 ballots, the one closer to me (not the one I use) lost 100s

I'm staying away from social media for at least the next week. We don't really watch the news much anyway so that's not a big deal.

Speaking of phone calls, I got a text from trump's campaign, wanting me to donate or whatever. I replied fuck off and the reply text was we have removed you from our list, and will get no further texts. I did that the other day as well (with a few other words about why I was not voting for him). No response but also no new texts yet.

I have tuned as much out as possible. There was never any question as to my vote, and so I have helped my blood pressure by not watching any of it.

I haven't watched news since last year. I get most of my political news from here or FB. I see something posted...a meme or whatever, then I search for it to see if it's legit. I have watched some of the rallies on YouTube, but not all the way through. Even though I voted for Harris/Walz, I really cannot sit through a whole rally with them speaking. I definitely cannot sit through a minute of trump speaking.
Up to last week, I used to read comments under posts of Pro-Harris sites on FB. I do not follow or read anything that is Pro-trump. I literally cannot stand to see that mouth in movement. It makes me want to vomit. Anyway, I cannot read any more comments. The good comments of course are okay. But then you get the troll who really knows how to get under my skin. Cannot do it anymore. My BP is too high already without adding that into the mix.
At this point, everything has been discussed. I don't need to hear it rehashed over and over. I just want this whole thing to be done with. I want to wake up on Wednesday, November 6th and see nothing but Harris/Walz WINS! plastered all over every news channel/FB post and here. If that is not the case, I need to see if I can work remotely from Canada. I have dual citizenship. Probably can't but it's worth a try.

I wish I could stop but I just can't even though I have already voted.

I am trying to cut down. I normally DVR a few shows but have been deleting and not watching. I am still here and go see a bit on FB snd do go on Twitter a bit. I have been on less this past week snd plan to keep that trend for a while. I don’t always open the political threads - probably still more than I should but way less

We just had an election in my province and I am worn out from worrying here. The government funds programs I am in so I needed them to stay in power. They also won with a clear but small majority. I am safe for 5 years.
I feel for the American Peas. I am sure you are done with election anything.

I find it interesting that candidates pay upwards of $60,000 to put out mailers and continue to stuff your mailbox with them when we could start to vote beginning of the month and many have. What a waste of money. And supposedly it's supposed to stop once you vote. But I still get them as well as phone calls. Enough. I hate it. Research shows most are not persuaded by calls or mailers. I really wish some of these things were illegal yet here we are. Also I check ABC first thing in the morning and that is it. I don't before bed. I have also silenced a ton of friends who only post political stuff. I think the amount of money spent on mailings and commercials is such a waste of money. The commercials play back to back-same exact one sometimes. I watch my local news first thing in the AM for weather & traffic. Later in the day I avoid it.

You want to impress me as a candidate? I think there should be a limit on the money spent on election crap, the signs, the mass mailings. Anyway, say any person running for president only gets a million dollars. A mayor only gets say a thousand. Show me how well you make that money stretch.
I'm going back to my dream world now.

I’m trying hard to avoid it. My mind is made up. I just have to find a spare minute to go vote early. I guess I can go 1st thing Election Day before my first ride but I want to be done.

I don't get news other than the 3 networks and PBS on my digital antenna. If I am home I do turn on the local and national evening news. I multi-task while it's on though. That is manageable for me. I could never be a glued to CNN/FOX/whatever person. I also have a subscription to the NYT but TBH I use it mostly for theatre info and recipes.

I never watch network news. I’m still listening/reading NPR. Dh listens to his favorite political podcasts in the morning at the gym. But, we both prefer to avoid tv news.
The exception would be when there are major events and we will watch during election night.

So over it. I work from home on election day and thought about watching the coverage while working. I have totally changed my mind and watching fluff shows or movies. (Background noise really).. then I might watch a little in the evening just to see how it is going. I don't know how long I will last especially if Dump is leading.

I watch the first 15 minutes of the Today show in the morning and then get most of my news from here. I tend not to seek out election news but I'm not actively avoiding it either.
