Good morning.
Ok. Enough is enough. I'm waiting for the neurology advice nurse to call. The headache picked up steam last night. My day is going to be based around this stupid owie.
What's your plan today?
Dh has tons of rechauffe for dinner?
What's on your menu?
Wishing everyone a happy day w/ease and contentment.

Oh no scrapmaven! Enough already! DS is heading back home today so we're going out to lunch and spending time with the parents before I take him to the airport. I took some hamburger out of the fridge so I may make spaghetti tonight. Hope you all have a great day!

I can't believe how long your migraines last scrapmaven! I hope you get some relief today! My sciatica is still giving me grief so I booked a massage for tomorrow ... 90 minutes of heaven! I'm not working today ... my cleaning person should be here in a few minutes ... I always feel so uncomfortable being here when she is here doing all the housework I should be doing but oh well! No big plans for the rest of the day ... my mum will be coming over later this afternoon ... they are serving something she doesn't like for dinner at her place so she's eating here ... no idea what we will have ... she can decide when she gets here!

This migraine needs to gooooooooooo! You poor thing. I'm so sorry. DS is heading back home today so we're going out to lunch and spending time with the parents before I take him to the airport. I hope you had a nice time with him. My sciatica is still giving me grief so I booked a massage for tomorrow ... 90 minutes of heaven! Good plan. I hope it brings you some relief. I am getting ready to leave for allergy testing. We will finally have some idea of what caused those terrible reactions. The test doesn't sound pleasant, but I can't wait to have some answers. I'm off tomorrow and will just let the day flow however it does. We ended up having tacos last night. Takeout. So tonight I will make some black eyed peas, with greens and sweet potatoes. Sounds good to me. Have a great day and I will check in after my appointment.

Danggit scrapmaven!! I am so sorry. Tearisci spaghetti sounds good. I have an open jar of sauce from Saturday night's meatball toast. Since I don't have anything really planned I may make up a pot of sauce and meatballs and serve over the half a bag of pasta. I just looked at the pasta this morning figuring out how I could make it at lunch today at the office. So we will have either that or chicken lettuce wraps. I went to a new Walmart the other day and found some PF Chang chicken wrap sauce. And I picked up some ground chicken. Probably need to use that first and do the spaghetti on Thursday. sigh...decisions decisions. Other than that, just a quiet day in the office. Oh and DH is on pupper watch. Our oldest just didn't seem to be acting himself yesterday. Really all weekend. I figured it was because DH was sick and I was being the tired helper and Scout just thought mom needed him. Well, this morning I woke up to a pile of diarrhea in the spot where he will sometimes go inside. I couldn't tell but it looked bloody. I know, too early in the morning for this kind of talk. But I am not sure, could just be the color of. Anyway, he didn't eat his nighttime cookie last night, nor his mintie this morning or his absolute go bananas act for the morning snausage. So I told DH since he was upright today, Scout was his priority and to call me if anything should come up. Other than that quiet.

It’s a quiet day for me today. No pressing errands or household chores, so I am just chilling, watching Netflix and knitting. DH is out for dinner as his previous boss is in Munich with his new work and called DH to catch up, so I don’t even have to worry much about dinner. Dinner will be boring - I have a lot of vegetables left from last night, so I’m adding a few more and then I’ll melt some cheese over the top and call it good. scrapmaven and leannec - sending healing vibes your way and hoping you both find some relief. jeremysgirl - though the allergy tests will be no fun at all, I am hoping you get some answers from them.

jeremysgirl also if they don't ask them to wipe you off with medicated wipes and then lather on Rx cream once your welts have been measured, documents, and photographed for your file. Both those items immediate takes away the itch. I did have to follow up with a Benadryl for the foods as my nut reactions were severe.

Today I have chemo and usually we get a late lunch afterwards, but my appointment is later than usual. So probably I’ll just come home afterwards and order pizza. In case anyone is interested: my sister and I have a Pampered Chef party open, mostly just so we can order things for ourselves. But in case anyone else is looking for something, here is the link. Deadline to order is midnight Eastern on Thursday 10/31. We are absolutely NOT asking, encouraging, or urging anyone to order anything. table.pamperedchef.com/party/1441869qww?inviteSource=direct&t=1730219303322scrapmaven, dammit, feel better!! naby64, hope your pup is okay.

scrapmaven I'm sorry to reading about this ongoing migraine. I used to get them like that, too - day after day, usually five days, and barely functional. Botox did help me, and eventually I stopped the botox and they rarely recur. I can only imagine how you must be feeling. We got so much done yesterday - voted, joined a gym, ate brunch out, and got Covid boosters. We had Jersey Mikes subs for dinner. Today we are going to take pics of my son and his family at a Christmas staging home. I guess this must be a new thing as I've never heard of it before, but who knows. I might just be out of the loop. You pay $50 for 30 minutes to use holiday scenes in someone's home for your family Christmas card file. DH will be taking the pictures and I will help with staging. My DIL's goal is to have the 5-year-old look informal and not his usual fake posing-for-pictures smile. Not sure how to accomplish that, but I'll try. Hopefully the new baby will cooperate as well.

Ohhhhh, something I just remembered I was going to ask everyone about. LEEKS. I have 2 very large ones in my fridge. I was supposed to make a savory leek bread pudding for a potluck on Sunday. Well, after tending to sick DH, I didn't have the energy so I thought I will just do something later. I don't want to have to make the bread pudding just for me. I don't need to consume that much bread over a few days. What else can I do with leeks. I don't think I have ever used them before in anything. If I did, it is so far back in history I can't remember it. So give me all your ideas please!

I don’t have any recipes right at hand, but I’ve seen plenty of them (usually potato-leek soup) and they look delish. ETA or maybe sauté them and add to a quiche?

naby64: Sending special thoughts for your sick fur baby. I hate it that they can’t tell you what’s wrong. I’m sitting in the car in the parking lot of the eye dr. I just had my mom to get her shot in the eye last week but this is another appt for a new peripheral vision check. They don’t let anyone else wait in the office (new policy since Covid) so here I wait in the car with my book. My youngest son dropped off my belated birthday present last night. It’s an awesome sweatshirt with Walkers head embroidered on the front and his name and paw print on the sleeve. Son said his girlfriend ordered it, he was just the “wallet”. I love it and am wearing it today. Supper will be grilled steak.

I might just be out of the loop. You pay $50 for 30 minutes to use holiday scenes in someone's home for your family Christmas card file. I've never heard of this, but not surprised it exists in our social media driven world. Not meant as a diss, I really admire someone seeing an opportunity and filling it. Especially if people want to send out a holiday themed photo. I'm usually sending out holiday cards before we've put up our decor so am limited to whatever photos I have from the last year with the whole family in it. So for this year it is when we shaved my head. Hope you both get answers scrapmaven and jeremysgirl. Will be thinking of you tomorrow, too. I just got my blood work results ahead of tomorrow's infusion and am so disappointed to see my protein level below normal again. I swear, I'm eating way more protein than usual, and taking a supplement, and don't understand these numbers. I'm stuck on dinner. There is a family pack of chicken breasts that need to be used and I can't remember what I make when grilling season is done.

If I did, it is so far back in history I can't remember it. So give me all your ideas please! Potato leek soup and braised leeks. I also use them in a Italian bacon leek pasta (BLT) by Food Network. ETA: make sure to clean them well. I cut the end off where the roots were and then the dark green leaves (save those if you have a stock bag in the freezer if left over scraps). I cut mine down the middle then again opposite way to get half moons. Place in water (I use a large bowl) and swish around. Separate each part and rub to loosen sand and dirt. Pull out by hand fulls and place into a small colander then rinse 1 more time. Lay on towel and dry. Others keep the bottom on and make slits down (2) to make 4 sections and then run under water as they rub. I tried that and still had dirt.

What else can I do with leeks. I don't think I have ever used them before in anything. If I did, it is so far back in history I can't remember it. So give me all your ideas please! We had potato leek soup last night. So delicious. I don't have a recipe but all you need are leeks, onion, garlic, potato, thyme, bay leaves, broth, salt & pepper. I chop the onions & leeks and put them in a Dutch oven over medium heat with a little oil to saute. Add the garlic, salt and pepper and let them soften for about 5 minutes. Chop and add potatoes and mix together for a couple minutes. Add broth to cover, fresh thyme sprigs and bay leaves and bring to a rolling boil. Cover, turn down the heat for about 20 minutes. When potatoes are cooked, turn off the heat, remove thyme sticks and bay leaves and puree with an immersion blender. If too thick, add more broth. IIRC, I used one medium onion, 4 small leeks and 3 ginormous Yukon potatoes If you want something more precise, there are plenty on Pinterest.

Not sure if they went over it but if they question any they may do the ramp up series in your arm. I had a few questionable foods so I got shots in my upper arm. Only a few had to be upped in side to see if I had a reaction. Sometimes the welts form weird and it's hard to tell if it's a true reaction. Insects (if they do that testing) is done on your forearms. Yellow jacket and another sting like really bad and make your nerves act funny. 😬

Happy Tuesday! I just got home. Decided, since I was teaching tonight, I would leave work at noon and come home and enjoy this weather. It is 80 degrees! We will most likely hit a record high for today. The wind is something fierce though. All the beautiful leaves will be gone after today. Nothing exciting going on here. Been a couple of busy days. scrapmaven sorry that stupid migraine is hanging around. jeremysgirl hopefully you will get the results quickly. leannec hoping the massage gives you some relief. peasapie I thought I would vote on my way home but when I saw the line outside the door I figured I will go tomorrow when I have more time. DH is on his own for dinner. I will grab something after class.

Hi all! Sending my love and best wishes to everyone!
I am compiling comments for a review process, and may lose what little is left of my mind if I see the word "relevant" one more time from one of the reviewers. UGH. I was hoping this would take my mind off of these horrendous bug bites, but both of just annoying me more than anything now. It sounds silly and petty, and I try not to get easily annoyed, but it's happening pretty easily today.
Still waiting on one last lab from last week (it took 8 days to get results back last time, so I should have them by Thursday), and then my doctor said the ones that were off may have just been something that needs to work its way out and since I'm not experiencing any other symptoms, I'll do a recheck tomorrow and we'll see how those look.

All that allergy testing and you know what I'm allergic to? Cats. My back lit up on fire. Over cats. Nothing else reacted. No food. No environmental. Nothing. He's sending me for blood testing for auto immune disorders. He told me if it isn't that then we need to start looking at my medication as the culprit.

I'm doing homemade chicken noodle soup tonight too! My head feels like it's in a vice today...we have insane winds and a severe weather front moving this way so I'm not surprised. We always have a short second severe/tornado season this time of year, it hits tomorrow. We need the rain badly! lucyg I'm glad you have an appetite after treatment, and I'm totally looking at your pampered chef link. I still use so much pampered chef stuff!

Please let me share something. It's been a tough 3-4 weeks for me. I work at a church and we try to help with benevolence when we can. 3 weeks ago I was called evil because the person calling didn't fit our criteria and I told them we couldn't help. Last week, I was called an evil bitch for the same thing. Today someone called and again was asking for something we don't help with. She called me a snob before hanging up. Now, it's been a week and it's only Tuesday. This morning has been frazzleling. Is that a word? Anyway, the MoM knows my favorite cookie is a frosted gingerbread cookie from our local bakery. He brought one to me after lunch. He said you need this. I posted it on FB and said you know who you are, thank you. My DD just sent me MY photo with a text. "You know that's a vagina". Oh my lawd, I can't unsee it now. Share the much needed laugh with me here. Do you see a pumpkin or.. ya know...
