My blood pressure has been creeping up. I bought a cuff and it's alarming me that it is steady high (it's been 3 days tho, LOL). My Dr recommended I follow the DASH diet, and except for eating eggs almost every single day, I feel like I pretty much follow it already.
Just wondering if any peas have successfully lowered their BP and any tips that might help? I go back to the dr in Jan.
I am on Wegovy for weight loss, and am hoping that will help. I am also currenting on the birth control pill, which could also be playing into this. I am not on BP meds tho. I take fish oil and Vitamin D every day. I try to walk 30-45 min a day, or swim for 60 min. I fell last year and hurt my knees, so gained weight and couldnt really exercise, so I have been working on that, and am at this time, actually pretty pain free since adding fish oil.
Thanks!

My doctor recommended the Dash diet and also walking for 30 minutes a day. I'm on Metoprolol for HBP and have been for years.
I don't check my BP every day, because when it's high, that makes it go up more. LOL

I recently read that the "exercise" named sitting on the wall lowers BP. I have tried it a few times and I think it does. theworkoutdigest.com/wall-sit-benefits/I don't do any of the variations. I just slide down into the sitting position. I make sure the small of my back is up against the wall.

I would start by tracking your salt. Start looking at labels and salt content. And eating more fresh fruits and vegetables with each meal.

How long have you been on the Wegovy? I've been on 2 types of blood pressure meds for the past 10-15 years. Started Ozempic/Wegovy a year ago and within a month or 2 had lowered one of my BP meds, actually cut it in half.

I would start by tracking your salt. Start looking at labels and salt content. And eating more fresh fruits and vegetables with each meal. This. Sodium hides in places you might not expect. Two specific items in my own home that surprised me were plain bagels and plain flour tortillas because they didn't "seem" salty to me. The bagel, in particular seemed very bland. Now I know to avoid them completely, or if I really do wish to have one, have only half of one, or make sure to be extra vigilant about my salt intake aside from those items. And any time we plan to eat out or order in, I have to be extra careful the rest of the day.

My MIL was so stressed out taking the blood pressure it was throwing her off. It was actually worse than white coat syndrome. Make sure you're actually relaxed. I give blood regularly, so they check me every 8 weeks. I was shocked at just how high it was after my mammogram - like 30 points higher. Don't underestimate the impact of stress.

Look for hidden salt in your diet. The birth control pills could be a factor too. And, some of it could just be hereditary.

Started Ozempic/Wegovy a year ago and within a month or 2 had lowered one of my BP meds, actually cut it in half. I’ve been on it since mid June? End of June? I’ve lost about 20 lbs but still have a way to go. I have been stressed/anxious lately too so I’m hoping things will calm down and with more exercise and fruits and veggies I can get it down. The bagel comment is interesting. I had no idea and often I eat a hard boiled egg and half a bagel. According to the dash diet it says not to eat more than 4 yolks a week. I probably eat an egg a day. And then a carb too. ☹️

Anti-inflammatory diet (increase produce/decrease sodium, animal products & processed foods), exercise (a 30 minute daily walk is enough) and meditation/breathing exercise.

You are doing well. Keep in mind you may never be able to get you BP down naturally. As katlady posted above heredity counts too.
