I told DH I was going to "do some retail therapy" and he started laughing and asked "how much are we talking?" I said "a house in Canada, but probably just some scrapbook supplies." What about you?
ETA: I also need clothes, I applied for a job yesterday. I probably don't want to wear jeans and a hoodie to an interview.

I placed a Stampin Up order in the wee hours. These were things already in my cart and I was going to buy soon. Still feeling numb. I don’t think any spending will help snd thinking it will be wiser to start saving money.

I will be window shopping only, but up and down Michigan Avenue in Chicago so it's pretty excellent window shopping.

I’m trying to be good to myself today (and in the weeks to come) and do things that are self-nurturing, but who knows what the day may bring.

I joked with SO that we better buy that new foreign brand car before the tariffs go into place. But, no, no retail therapy for me today.

Does buying wine count? Because I did that.

Probably not.
But if I did - it would be the Sephora sale. Or a skirt I’ve been eyeing from J Crew.

I’m scared to spend any money now. We’re probably definitely stuck in our current home. As we will pay it off in 3ish years, and taking on a new mortgage with what we’re facing seems unwise. It needs work, which I couldn’t even guesstimate the costs to do as I expected both the costs of materials and labor to skyrocket in construction / home improvement.
There are some essentials I want to replace before February now. But the era of retail therapy for me is over.

I booked several weekends at Cincinnati hotel for pride 25-does that count? Cause I’m really excited about that. I already have a shopping when I’m stressed problem and have really tried to curb it these last few weeks, months, years. It’s a problem. 💁♀️

I stopped at a little boutique in town and made a few little purchases.

Fat Quarter Shop has some good sales right now. I was very tempted, but fabric is one thing on my no-buy list right now. I guess it will be baking therapy instead.

I’m going on a spending freeze. I may need the money to flee the country and I also will not contribute any extra to trumps economy. No more shoes or scrapbooking supplies, no going out to eat. It’s my form of protest.

YUP. I already had some things in my Amazon cart, but more (crafty, sewing-related) things will be in it when I finally click the BUY button.

When I saw Bezos' message congratulating Trump, I told myself to cancel Prime and close my Amazon account. BUT then I thought where would I buy the stuff I buy from Amazon cause small-town Kansas does not offer a whole lot of options. Hmmm . . . this is going to require some further thought.

I am looking at stuff for tween bags for volunteer group. Have to buy 12 like items, times 3. (One for me, one each for parents since we are all in it). Got notebooks and pens, need something else to complete it. If anyone has any suggestions I am open.

NO!
I’m battening down the hatches and reading up on any strategies to prepare for the depression that tarriffs could bring.
Paying off debts Diversifying some things Etc.
Reaching out to reassure a few people in more tenuous situations than I
I might tighten up on the holidays as well.

Not yet, but I plan to. I told myself long ago that if it came to this I was buying myself something nice. Granted I really freaking didn't think it would come to this.
I haven't decided if it will be a very expensive purse or a chair I have been wanting. Probably the chair, the purse is a bit much.

I've done the opposite as in cancelled some online orders I had recently placed and deleted my CC info on some other shopping sites. If asshole implements his tariffs again it's going to decimate our farm economy which will decimate our family income.

I’m feeling so blah I don’t even want to shop. I tried to do a bit today and I realized that shopping wasn’t going to make me feel any better. I bought what I needed or had already planned on buying. I’m kind of holding off in a few other purchases. If I hadn’t been diagnosed with pre diabetes I am sure I would have been stress eating as chocolate has really been calling me the last few days. Not worth messing up my A1C I am determined to lower my numbers. Sleep, drinking water and exercising have been really hard because I have felt so blah lately. Trying hard to eat well though.

I went to Nordstrom Rack, but didn’t find anything. Even shopping made me unhappy today. 😫

No, because I am worried about incoming financial trouble under Trump. I did take myself to Shake Shack for fries and a delicious milkshake for lunch though.

I guess it depends on what the job is. Your comment reminded me of my dd's story from when she was in college, social work. She was starting her required internship. She and another girl were going to be working a a nearby residential wilderness camp for troubled teens. The other students were in placements like high schools, the county Human Services department, etc. The professor told them to come to the first internship seminar dressed as they would be dressed for their first day at their internships. So dd and the one girl came in jeans, boots, hoodies, etc. Everyone else was in dresses, nice slacks, suit coats... lol. Everyone was a bit jealous of dd and the other girl on how they had to dress. lolol
