I’m surprised at how many of you never go to malls. Where do you or your kids shop? At our mall the busiest side has two of those kiosks/popups. I haven't been in a mall in 5 years, maybe longer. I think the last one I was in was Jordan Creek Mall in W.DSM, and it had declined so much that I just said, "blah - this is awful". I don't know about my kids, but they were never into going to a mall. Mostly because of distance, but it just wasn't something that really interested them that much. My girls would sometimes go at back to school time, but mostly they were after running shoes or something like that, where the specialty store wasn't even in the mall. The closest one to me is 90 miles away, and it isn't much. Des Moines has a few malls, but that is 2 hours away and I avoid DSM if I can, and actively choose to not spend money there if I can help it. |

The malls that I now shop at are the kind where all the stores are outside. Not the big enclosed ones. There are lots of little crossing streets. The shops are situated like a little town. I much prefer that.

The one time I tried to go to the T-mobile kiosk in the mall, the person working ignored me and continued to talk on the phone and I ended up driving to an actual T-mobile store to get help. Otherwise, I will go out of my way to walk as far from the kiosks and their aggressive sales people as possible.

I've only bought from the Christmas ornaments kiosk at Christmas time-the ones that will personalize the ornament while you wait.

What's a "mall"?  Maybe once or twice a year we are in one, usually to make a return. I haven't bought kiosk krap since the '90s. |

I have been known to be on a very important phone call as I walk past them. But if I go to our local mall, it's usually only to go to a particular store.

I set my eyes straight ahead and totally ignore them. I hate doing that, but its the only way to keep them from squirting some smelly something on me.
I went to a mall about a month ago after we ate in a mall restaurant and I had extra time before a flight. Here locally, I would only go to the mall for something specific. Almost all of the nicer shopping areas here are large strip malls. I think that's a harder way to shop if you want to hit multiple stores, but it seems cheaper for them to build that way. The shopping area close to me has 4 large strip malls with busy streets running between them, so you have to get in your car to go from one to another - much less convenient than an actual mall, unless you are just going to one store.

I have a funny story.
My DH is NOT much of a shopper but once when I had dragged him out for a spot of festive retail therapy he was bailed up by a guy selling nail treatments or something.
The interaction went …
Sales guy “ hi sir,can I ask you a question ?“
DH “ yes”
Sales guy “ how are you today ?
DH “ fine “ and he walked off !!!
Sales guy wasted his one question !🤣

I have not been to the Mall in...oh 5 years? Ever since Macy's and Sears both closed I have no real reason to go.

Hell to the no. I am a nonconfrontational introvert, so it always freaks me out to have people approach me randomly, or try to sell me stuff, or touch me randomly, and mall kiosk people always do 2 or 3 of those.
