DH and I don’t travel but we went to Belize back in 2008 for my sisters destination wedding so we needed passports. We renewed them since it’s cheaper than starting over.
I’m currently in the process of getting my Italian citizenship and will her an Italian passport when that happens. I need to get passports for my kids (13 and 8) in order for them to get Italian passports. I’m kinda dragging my feet on theirs since they have a shorter expiration date and I’m cheap 😂

My mom did not get her passport until she was almost 80. She had been to Mexico and Canada before, but that was back when you only needed a driver’s license. My dad never had a regular passport, but he did travel internationally thanks to the Army. 😆 I got mine in my early 20’s.

I live in a country I wasn't born in, I always have an up to date passport!
My kid has two passports, two different nationalities, the first one issued at three months old.

I've had one continuously since I was a child. All of my kids have had them since under 6 months. They have now all had to renew them as well. Most years we do at least one international trip, other years more than one. Next year we will do Mexico, Spain/Portugal/Moracco, and Australia.

as a child, I was on my mum's US and dad's UK passports. I got my own as a teen (both US and UK). At some point years ago they were stolen and I couldn't afford to replace them. I replaced the US in 2017 so I could go to Canada (I went to Mexico in 1998 but didn't need a passport) and I'm in the process of replacing my UK - running into some name change documentation issues as when I married I dropped my middle names in favour of my maiden name.
I think DH got his first passport when he was in the army and he renewed it in 2017. The girls got theirs then too - although DD18's needs renewing. DS got his shortly after he enlisted. (all US passports - the kids are eligible for a UK one but none of them has one yet)

I got my first passport at 17 to go to Spain with my bff to visit her bf's family (he would go there summers to work at his uncle's restaurant). the grandma died, whole country goes into mourning so it never happened.
got my next passport for my honeymoon in Jamaica at 29 and then went to Paris/amsterdam for 5 days with my gay friend at 33. didn't travel again til 2014 when we went to Disney, that was a 10 year passport which I just renewed recently to visit my DD who is studying in Denmark. I got another 10 year.
I will never be without a passport. In the past two years I have traveled to Arizona for work twice, got an incentive trip this spring to Mexico for 3 days and visited my daughter twice in Denmark (with a weekend jaunt last year to Edinburgh and this year to Berlin while visiting her). There is a whole big world out there - Covid taught me that we don't know what is coming down the pipe next - I am not waiting, when opportunity presents itself - I am outta here!!

I first got one in the 1990s. I took several trips to places I had dreamed of visiting. My friend teased me that I was going to wear it out. Now that our son lives in Canada it is a necessity.
I would love to see some of the UK before I quit traveling.
DH won't travel so he is cramping my plans now.

I traveled internationally (well, I went to Canada for a long weekend in college but I didn't need a passport) for the first time this year in my mid-40s. My sister is a few years younger than me and does not have one & I imagine she and her husband never will; they'd rather stay at home than travel.
