Oops... If January 6th defendant Daniel Ball believed his legal woes were over after his case got dismissed in the wake of President Donald Trump's mass pardon, he would have been mistaken. Politico's Kyle Cheney reports on BlueSky that Ball was arrested on Wednesday for pending federal gun charges, which Cheney notes is "the first arrest initiated by the Trump-led Washington Field Office." According to the warrant issued for his arrest, Ball "is a two-time convicted felon with prior convictions for domestic violence battery by strangulation and resisting law enforcement with violence." Ball was arrested in May of 2023 and charged with multiple felony offenses of "assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers with a deadly or dangerous weapon; using fire or an explosive to commit any felony; obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder; entering or remaining on restricted grounds without lawful authority to do so while carrying or using a deadly or dangerous weapon; knowingly engaging in any act of physical violence while carrying or using a deadly or dangerous weapon; disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds while carrying or using a deadly or dangerous weapon; and misdemeanor offenses of disorderly conduct in a Capitol building; acts of physical violence in the Capitol grounds or buildings; and stealing government property." www.rawstory.com/capitol-riot-arrest-2670913716/

Eggs price will continue to rise!! During his 2024 campaign, President-elect Donald Trump repeatedly made the promise that "prices will come down," BBC reports, but according to two experts, that won't be happening any time soon — at least when it comes to the price of eggs. While eggs are already "40% more expensive now than they were a year ago," KTLA notes, according to the Department of Labor, the raging avian flu epidemic means "it's about to get even worse."The epidemic — which "has already led to the death of more than 100 million egg-laying hens" — according to the report, is expected to spike egg prices "as much as 20% more in 2025." www.rawstory.com/eggs-trump/

They were up to 12.99 a dozen at Albertsons a few weeks ago. Aldi was up to 8.49 a week or two ago but now down to 3.99 and have been for a week. Eggs are still hard to come by though but it is better. I am keeping stocked up when costco has them in case they go back up.

Pay attention people!!! Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the White House website used to be full of information about our government that citizens might be able to use? Because now it's just a Trump campaign ad. www.whitehouse.gov/This is the official White House website, paid for by our tax dollars. jayfab

So instead of only going after the really bad guys criminals it looks like they are targeting farm workers. So now how is this supposed to work. Who is going to pick the fields tomorrow? It’s not like you can just let them sit on the vines for months while this gets figured out. No one is there to milk all the cows? Process our meat. This is going to lead to insane price hikes and loses for farmers. Last time tariffs cost billions in loses this will be more. Does not one of them have a brains. I guess they are all sharing one. Seriously. Raise meds, kick people off insurance, stop infrastructure that was in progress, this craziness. We knew it would be bad but this is sure much worse what many of us expected. What are we going to eat? Get our meds. I know there will be so much more that comes out in the following days. Someone has to have something more than a concept of a plan because we can’t just wait another few months or years while more systems are destroyed.

And of course the Trumpers are like oh, he’s just awkward, he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Please. He has frequently retweeted content from white supremacist sites. He knows exactly what he’s doing. Or he was just waving at people. SMH Then they post stills of others with their hands in similar positions but it’s the video not the stills that tell the story. Yes a person can wave or raise their hand and ut could look like this. If it was just the still there would be questions but seeing the video multiple times and knowing that those who actually do make that gesture acknowledging that that’s what it was then yeah no doubt snd I am willing to bet we will be seeing it more and more from different people. I love the meme that says if you think that’s ok then do it at work and see what happens. My kid even noted that anyone doing that in her high school would definitely get in trouble.

So just scrolling through Bluesky and Musk just did the Nazi salute hand to heart then pointed fingers and damn. It was fast and I’m sure it will be dismissed. Jojo from Jerz mentioned it then I scrolled down and there was the video. So no swearing in on a bible or book but hands at his side and then musk doing this. Yeah, I posted about this on the inauguration thread. Here it is for anyone who hasn’t seen it. www.instagram.com/reel/DFD8nwDPcnD/?igsh=MWhseHYzZWI5dmd4aw==When people show you who they are, believe them. www.instagram.com/reel/DFIAqdBuhlM/?igsh=MWh3bnlyd2hkdHo1YQ==When people show you who they are, believe them.

All the metro schools here were closed yesterday due to the excessive cold, and so many down south got snow that usually never do. My sister in TN and a friend in St. Louis both got way more snow than we have here in MN. It’s really bizarre.

I read the same article. It was specifically about Bakersfield, CA for citrus harvest. So no, not a weather related issue. ICE is apparently hanging out everywhere, harassing anyone that looks like they may be an immigrant. calmatters.org/economy/2025/01/kern-county-immigration-sweep/(I've changed the linked article, to the original reporting source. Apparently, the one I read poached their content)

They just reopened a border check that I haven’t seen open in over ten years. I feel so bad for all the tens of thousands of commuters that are getting stuck in it. Our son has a really long day on Tuesday and Thursday leaves at 7 am gets home after 8 pm and will get stuck in it tonight. They closed it because they weren’t really catching enough people or drugs. Border patrol switched and were getting tips and just pulling over certain cars and have done this for at least a decade now. This is north of San Diego just south of Temecula. I assume other similar checkpoints are also reopening. Im all for stopping drugs but this probably won’t make much of a difference. Word is already out so … BP catch drugs all the time but I bet they will claim anything they get as part of this. My MIL said they just had a huge bust a few days ago in San Diego which I’m sure took months of prep but FF will take credit for it. Obviously I’m happy they caught it but …
Ironically the same people complaining about their freedom and DUI stops think this is great. Time will tell but I’m hoping this doesn’t add another hour or two to my son’s day. Tuesday it took 2:15 to get to school normally a little over an hour because of the Lilac fire. He is tired and hungry at the end of the day snd just wants to get home like everyone else.

Interesting... The people talking to FF are mostly explaining while it was actually flooding. Why is FF not ask about the existing infrastructure at the time. That surely is NOT a FEMA issue....
One guy talked about how his flood insurance is not paying.. and FEMA is not helping. He HAS insurance...
Another lady said when she went out the road and bridge were gone ... Eventually she said FEMA told her that they, the woman, had to build the road and bridge about $300,000 .. told her to fix it and send lin the receipts.. she claims FEMA won't help her until she fixes the bridge..

They just reopened a border check that I haven’t seen open in over ten years. That checkpoint has been open within the last 10 years. I've gone through a few times in recent years when it has been open. Do you mean it is open 24/7 now? They usually just open it (and the one on the I-5) intermittently, without any announced times. And I know they do get tips. One year, a British guy who overstayed his VISA, was caught at the checkpoint off the I-5. He managed to start up 3 restaurants in San Diego in the years he was here. Someone had to snitch on him because we know the border people are not normally looking for white guys. Whenever I drive up the I-5, and if the checkpoint is open, I try not to get in the line behind a van. Most cars are just waved through, but the border patrol will also stop vans and inspect them.

Many inspector generals who were appointed by FF in his first term were fired by email... A decision by Donald Trump's incoming administration to make a late-night firing of at least 12 inspectors general –– including some the president personally approved of in his first term –– is creating alarm among observers, according to a report from the Washington Post. Increasing those concerns is the fact that abrupt "purge" is likely illegal under federal law. According to the report, "The inspectors general were notified by emails from the White House personnel director that they had been terminated immediately, according to people familiar with the actions, who like others in this report spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the private messages," adding federal law states Congress must be given 30 days’ notice of intent to terminate a Senate-confirmed inspector general.Of note, is the surprising decision to banish multiple former Trump appointees. "Most of those dismissed were Trump appointees from his first term, which stunned the watchdog community," the report notes with one of those fired telling the Post, "It’s a widespread massacre," and then warning, "Whoever Trump puts in now will be viewed as loyalists, and that undermines the entire system.” “IGs have done exactly what the president says he wants: to fight fraud waste and abuse and make the government more effective,” they explained before wondering. “Firing this many of us makes no sense. It is counter to those goals.” www.rawstory.com/trump-massacre/

[ This is the one on the 15 and I can’t remember the last time it was open. It apparently isn’t always open but it has been a few times this week. My son didn’t get stuck in it but others did earlier in the day. No idea if there are set hours but a couple of people are now afraid to go south for fear of getting stopped. She has mixed children and was afraid they may not believe are hers. Several people have said they would be worried too. California has a lot of Hispanics that are here legally here, born here for many generations. The fact that they have to be afraid of being pulled over and not believing that they are citizens is horrible. People are really on edge and I don’t blame them at all.

Interesting that FF is cancelling security for former employees, including Pompeo, Bolton, Fauci and about 50 more... FF just cannot do what is right!!
Remember, we taxpayers, paid for the trump family, including his adult kids and extended time after their first year of security coverage...

How does FF do this? Win law suits? Meta, the parent company of Facebook, will pay $25 million to settle a lawsuit filed against them by President Donald Trump in 2021, according to the Wall Street Journal. The suit argued that Meta violated Trump's rights by suspending his Facebook account in the immediate aftermath of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. That account was already restored before the 2024 election. The settlement, which allows Meta to continue denying any legal wrongdoing, will see $22 million go to fund the Trump presidential library, with most of the rest covering legal fees. *** In recent months, a number of significant companies facing lawsuits against Trump have moved to settle, most notably ABC News, which paid out in Trump's defamation claim over George Stephanopoulos saying Trump was “found liable for rape” in the E. Jean Carroll case. Rather, the jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation. The end of that case, which experts believe ABC was likely to win, prompted outrage from many people working at the network. www.rawstory.com/meta-settlement/
