Thinking of you leannec and hoping you can check in soon. After we walk this morning, DS will head home. He'll be back for over a week at Christmas. He (and we) are so lucky his company has a very good vacation policy. He's also going on a cruise in late January for a week. Dinner will be whatever I pull from the freezer as LSU plays at 4PM this afternoon. This took me a few seconds:

Happy Saturday! leannec sending you lots of hugs. Hope you are home soon! It is going to be a quiet day around here. Going to watch some football, scrap, work on cards and that's about it. This will be my last weekend with absolutely nothing going on so I plan on enjoying it! I do need to figure something out for dinner...

Having company for supper is a really good reason to clean the house! I especially needed to wash the floors to remove the muddy paw prints from the last couple weeks. The house smells clean and fresh! I’m making lasagna, Caesar salad and garlic bread for supper. My bestie is bringing dessert - sweet potato brownies! Never had them but definitely willing to try! We went to grandboy #2’s hockey game this morning and he got a goal - his second of the season. Thinking of leannec and hoping she’s well.

Oh my clinical diagnosed OCD self saw it right away. This morning I had to rewrite my grocery list because it didn't tear out of the paper pad nicely and then it got a little wet from my cup and the ink smudged. I tried so hard to let it go but couldn't. 🤦🏻♀️
Went to the grocery store with dd. Ds wanted to stay home with dh and relax. We got home late last night from the Cabazon Dinosaurs. The traffic going was insane but the outlets are that way, the casino, and then people go to the desert to play with their buggies and ATVs.
Dinner is potato soup and mixed greens salad. My tummy needs easy after all the rich foods from Thanksgiving and the too much lactose I had with dessert. 😳
Dh is decorating outside ❤️

We could either do a third round of Thanksgiving dinner or I could pick up Shawarma after I stop at the store after my massage.
The meal we had was a meal for 6- so far, it has been 8 meals and we have enough for 2-3 more. Im not gonna feel bad if we dont finish it.

Somebody is going to have to explain that meme to me. I see no difference. With that said, I am not a very observant person. Things go on around me without me noticing a damn thing. I however am married to Eagle Eye. So he tells me all that I miss. I'm going to show him the meme when I'm done typing and see what he says. Safe travels to the DSes and warm hugs to the moms who will miss them cadoodlebug and scrapmaven We just got home from cutting down our Christmas tree. It was lightly snowing this morning while we were out there. So much fun. Now we are going to have a little hot chocolate while we watch the football game. My new refrigerator was delivered this morning. I love it. We are planning on some frozen fried rice for dinner tonight. Shrimp for me and chicken for him. Easy peasy. Im going to hunt for the Christmas lights. But we will probably just let the tree rest until tomorrow. Some of my ornaments are still drying. I don't know if you remember but this year I was planning on an all crochet Christmas tree. So some of the ornaments and the angel needed to be stiffened. They are still drying.

leannec I hope you are home and feeling 100% very soon. I have Ally here for a couple of days. Yesterday we crafted for hours and baked cookies after dinner. Today has been more crafts and we will decorate the Christmas tree soon. I’ve been fighting a headache for hours but I think it’s on the way out. Dinner will be shake and bake pork chops in the air fryer, pierogies and carrots. The child who professes to not like most vegetables will have strawberries with her dinner.

I have had a lovely day today. I went to Munich Knits, a yarn fest here that is just in its second year. I missed last year as it was the day we had 35cm of unexpected snow overnight, which caused all sorts of problems with buses and trains. I had a couple of hours to wander the stands before I took a class on Roosimine - an old Estonian knitting technique. I knew the teacher, as she lived in Munich for a few years back before COVID, so it was nice to catch up. I’ll add a photo of my sample in a bit. Picture added: I also bought some yarn( jeremysgirl - stop laughing!) - a skein for an assigned pooling cowl that will be my travel project for Australia, a kit to make a pair of Latvian mittens which will be a gift for my friend who is from Latvia, and another kit for a shawl by one of my favourite designers. We’ve just finished dinner - lamb steaks, with ratatouille and potatoes. It was delicious, and really good as I hadn’t eaten much today. leannec - I hope you are beginning to feel better and are back home soon.

Yesterday afternoon I had massive drama.
I couldn’t find my blue pearl earrings. I looked everywhere for them. I tore apart the bedroom up here and they weren’t here. It turns out they were downstairs where they should have been🙄 in a really safe obvious place. I didn’t think maybe I should look down there? You know where my real bedroom is? The good news is I found the earring backing for my lost one that had been missing for 5 years. That was great news.

jeremysgirl, love your photos! We cut down our tree the first few years we were married but finally started going to a lot, then artificial. The bugs, sap and falling needles drove me crazy! I do love the smell though. I'm glad the meme stumped a few people besides me. When I got it, it looked so obvious!

jeremysgirl and Delta Dawn, look at the screws! Things like that set my teeth on edge. 😁 I have been known to "fix" that problem in airbnb and vrbo type places. We are hitting up our favorite brewery today. They are having a little Christmas market and food trucks. Then we will head to mil for tonight. I had hoped to go home today to avoid Sunday traffic, but we can't bear to drive past mil house. She is at the age where we can't not drop in when near. Ds24 resigned from his job today. I hurt for him. Back in August, when he started he was so freaking happy to start his career. It pretty quickly went south when he realized they had lied to him about the job. He graduated from Construction Project Management and stood out for his scheduling ability. He was very aggressively recruited by many companies for scheduling. He really liked what this company was doing and telling him. He gets there and finds out that their scheduling is a third party company, so he won't be doing scheduling. He had also up front told every recruiter that he couldn't do long term night shifts, as it massively messes with him. Low and behold he was put on night shift on his 3rd day. He pushed back and got to days to only have to push back again and again. He had been given the 3 days before Thanksgiving plus Thanksgiving and Friday. On Monday when he got to us, his boss sent a letter telling him that the nightshift guy wasn't doing a very good job, so ds had to switch to nights for 3 months and the schedule would be 13 12 hour shifts with day 14 off. These shifts are on a barge out on Lake Michigan. And while the shift is 12 hours, it also is an hour each way to get to the site on the barge. He immediately contacted his immediate boss and his boss. He was told too bad. He talked with some of the guys that had taken him under their wing, and they told him to get the f*ck out now! Apparently ds is the 9 person they have done this to, and ds had actually lasted longer than anyone else. I feel so badly for him, but on the plus side, he has already been contacted by two other construction companies. He thinks the barge supervisors put out the word. Thank you for letting me get this out.

sueg I am not laughing. Pooling yarn is such a fun thing no way I'm shaming you for buying it. One of my most favorite shawls is a pooling yarn. And I have three more skeins on a different color way that needs my attention.

Aww... malibou his first job out of college? What a bummer. That's got to really have messed with his head too. Kids often just get in there and they feel so committed and want to do their very best. They haven't got years of experience and disillusionment that us oldsters do. How disappointing.

Good afternoon ladies! Today is my 39th anniversary but I'm still with kids. I had initially planned on being home but DH misunderstood plans and made suit shopping/game watching with best friend out of town. So I stayed here. DD and I did an Aldi run with a couple of quick in and out trips at TJMaxx and Home Goods. Home for a cold dressing and homemade cranberry relish lunch. Another outing to Dollar Tree to look for the wooden Mason jar lids that some are getting. None here. So now I'm home under a warm throw with a hot cuppa and my new Sourdough cookbook. DS is going to play a new game. He's promised me a good dinner of whatever tonight, so who knows. I jokingly asked where I could get a nice vegetarian steak and he said they would look at me like I had 3 heads around here. jeremysgirl love the photos. We used to cut our tree when the kids were young but DH rediscovered the joy of plug and immediate lights again. Ahhhhhh... malibou so disheartened for your son. cadoodlebug saw it almost immediately. Because I made mine look that way. Speaking of brownies, I made pecan pie brownies for Thanksgiving. Lawdy, I need to forget those ever existed!

Married to an electrician who teaches all his guys to line up the screws, and heaven help them if he was on site and saw anything that looked like the first photo, I saw the difference immediately. malibou , I'm so sorry about your DS and glad he is walking away because the company is never going to get better. Is he going to stay out there or look at CA opportunities? DH gave a rookie mechanical engineer a 4 hour ride home from a remote military project who was struggling over whether to quit after being talked into a "great opportunity" with perks and benefits. Reality was the company needed someone on site, it was long hours with zero to do in your off time and if you didn't plan your food right, a two hour round trip to shop or eat at the local FF offerings. Which only works if you actually take your own car and don't get convinced to drive up with the project superintendent who didn't want to drive alone and didn't think about how you were getting home when he left a day early. My tree is up and I'm going to drive DH crazy because I want twinkling lights added. FTR, I've wanted twinkling lights added for years. It is my only regret about buying this tree and DH said something when he brought it in about maybe adding more lights so I'm holding out decorating until we get it done. He's also promised to put up the outdoor lights tomorrow. We only run them along the garage and around the entrance and big living room window so it isn't a huge job. I've figured out our family and friends Christmas cards and just need to tweak the dimensions and get everyone to sign before the copying and folding begins. Hoping to have everything ready to go in the mail Monday. I should finish the back of my sweater today, so I'm on track to have it done well before our January trip north which makes me very happy. Dinner will be Italian sausages and roast vegetables (zucchini, peppers, onions and butternut squash). Hope we get an update from you soon, leannec.

we are glad today it is not raining. hugs to all those who need them.
we are riding in a small train in old gold mining area this afternoon.. weather not good enough for the beach. eating dinner at the same hotel tonight. only a two minute walk from campground.
I did have a thanksgiving win.. I brought to new zealand a can of pumpkin (TJ's) and spices. and I made a pumpkin pie without the crust for dinner. our american friend said he always hated pumpkin pie and wouldn't have any. no problem. but his kiwi wife talked him into trying a bite of mine and he loved it!!! mine is more like a custard very light, and he had only had very dense pies in the past. none was left in the end. grandma's recipe never fails.

Happy Saturday!
We had the most amazing meal last night. It was Malaysian which I love and our server kept bringing out dishes. We ordered 3 and ended up with 12 plus extra wine and shots. We’re having leftovers tonight for dinner!
Hope you all have a great day!

(( hugs )) to anyone who needs 'em!Hoping leannec is okay! @jeremysgiri....LOVE the snow, trees, and wow---beautiful horses! Such a Christmas-ee scene! malibou ....So sorry about your son's job, and hoping a much better one replaces it. You asked about my hip yesterday---both are replaced, but the left has given me a LOT of trouble, no matter what I've tried--- Physical Therapy, Stretches, Swimming, Heat/ Cold. Had fun cooking our T'giving dinner the other day, until my thumb, other fingers, one heel, one knee, and one hip started throbbbbing... We LOL over rubber-banding tiny ice packs to different appendages. The three separate headaches I had through the afternoon/ evening added more fun! Even with allll the pain, we had fun watching the Dog Show ( did y'all see that a PUG won"Best-in-Show?" ) and then, our fave movie of all time: "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" We are obsessed with that movie and analyze it, discover new things, pause to discuss things, etc. every year. Tonight we'll have pizza and salad

There was dense fog for DS's drive home. He figured it would burn off but, nope, it took him an hour extra for a usually 1 hour 45 minute drive. But, thankfully, he made it safely. It will be nuts tomorrow with everyone heading home after Thanksgiving. scrapmaven, I hope your YDS made it safely back to his home.
