Good morning.
Today we have an appt w/our contractor down here for some work that needs to be done. Then I'll be at my puzzle. Dh is going to see his cousin, but I'm not up to a lengthy visit.
What are you up to today?
Dinner will be pho for dh.
What's on your menu?
sueg, you're in my thoughts and prayers. I'm hoping that you're settled in w/your family.
lucyg, how do you feel today? Did you see your doctor?
Wishing everyone a relaxing, restorative and good weekend.

Happy Friday! I decided on the spur of the moment to take the day off. I have some extra days that will carry over but I wasn't busy so I'm like, why work? So today I will go pick up my wine, get ramen for lunch and run a few errands. I plan on starting on my Christmas cookies today as I don't really want to mess up the kitchen after the cleaners will be here tomorrow. I'm so excited for my house to be all sparkly clean! For dinner tonight, I'm doing a sheetpan meal with kielbasa, potatoes and onions. I may have my parents over if they feel up to it. We just found out my dad has a UTI so he hasn't been feeling the best. At least it didn't make him loopy and crazy like the last one did. We really thought he was getting dementia but he was fine once the UTI cleared up. Hope you're feeling better lucyg. Hope you all have a great day!

Your day sounds nice, Tearisci. Have fun today. UTI's wreak havoc in elderly people. Glad that your dad is present and it's not a bad one. Enjoy a fun and clean 3 day weekend.

It's nasty out so no AquaFit for me. I do need to run a few errands ~ my cards are almost done and I need to mail a package. I also need to make pralines for a party tomorrow and they don't do well in this weather. And it will be raining tomorrow for the party. When I got my haircut yesterday, we decided to let it grow a little longer and do a short bob. In the spring I might try a pixie cut with some spikes. But no purple! Dinner is undecided at the moment. TGIF dear friends!!

I did an inventory of gifts and discovered that there is not an even number for my girls ... they must be even! Looks like I will be heading to the dreaded mall on Monday to shop for Molly! Today I will be cleaning the kitchen and doing laundry ... fun times! Dinner is up in the air! I hope you are well today lucyg! Best of luck with the job interview Mr. rymeswithpurple!

It will be whatever i can easily put my hands on.
My vacation started today and I'm supposed to be on the road to run errands, buy groceries, pick up a gift or 2. But I sit here in the ER with DH who has a very high BP. 220/119, nausea, pale and sweaty. I'll update when I can. And he's freezing.

Happy Friday dinner friends! It's another dreary gray day here, it isn't cool outside, but the house feels chilly. scrapmaven enjoy your rest and puzzle. rymeswithpurple Sending great interview vibes to your DH. I like what his former director said, "it's his to get!! He's got this! cadoodlebug send a few pralines my way please. :-) The new Haircut sounds nice! Tearisci enjoy your day off! I try to keep my house clean after the cleaner comes too, I've been know to scold DH for using the stove the first few days after. leannec one of the main cause of holiday stress for me is trying to keep gifts even and of equal value. Today is a quiet day work wise so far, I hope it remains this way, I've mixed one batch of Cranberry Orange Shortbread cookies that I'll bake sometime tomorrow. I'm going to make time to do a bit of sewing this afternoon/evening. The cookie bake is Sunday so I'm in prep mode, I've made the fudge, pecan pie bars, baked the cut out cookies and one batch of my " grandma's cookies" the house is a disaster, my son will come over tomorrow morning to bring a couple of folding tables down for upstairs and stow a few totes away in the storage shed that DH was supposed to do, but stayed at the ranch all week, I also want him to lift my back up kitchen aid mixer down from the top of the pantry. When he leaves I'll set up the folding tables to tidy up the house. This is such a fun tradition but exhausting too, a Good kind of exhausting. Dinner? I have no idea, probably a turkey sandwich or carry out from somewhere. Wishing everyone a great day and weekend ahead!

leannec, austnscrapaddict Thank you both! He called me earlier (I'm actually in the office today since we're going to lunch for my coworker's birthday), and asked me to pick him up some new dress shirts. The last thing he needs is an annoying collar during an interview, so I'm happy to do anything I can for him. naby64 Eeek! Sending you both all of the good wishes! cadoodlebug I think the last time I had a "real" hair cut from a salon was 2019. DH cuts my hair for me. It's not perfect, but it works. If it's a little wonky, I don't care. I just put it in a ponytail and tell him where to chop. XD

naby64 , my thoughts are w/your husband and you. Have a very low tolerance for going to the ER. His blood pressure warrants that trip. Please let us know how things are going when you are able to update. cadoodlebug , can I vote for a mohawk. Is hunter green your color? hehe. rymeswithpurple , sending all of the get-the-new-job vibes to your husband.

naby64, the numbers and description of your DH are scary. I hope he is seen quickly. I'm off to yoga in a few minutes and then will run over to the Business Costco and pick up more collagen protein powder. I think it was making a difference to my energy level but decided to wait until I saw my dermatologist next week before getting more. My local store only has chocolate flavor for some reason and, as much as I love chocolate, I really don't like chocolate flavored things. The business center has 100s of protein powder/bar options. It's frustrating when the things I want to eat, like peppermint chocolate bark, don't add protein to my diet. And are probably triggering inflammation which is not helping the fatigue issue. I hate being a grown up sometimes. The fridge is full, so I'm declaring another fend for yourself night here.

oh no naby64 ! I hope he's ok, should he go to the ER? we are at ER. He wanted to go to our GP, which I told him was stupid. So urgent care we go. He felt really bad and they don't take in priority order. I told him we had to go to ER. So here we sit. His BP has come down but they are doing all the tests now.

Geez naby64 I'm so sorry to hear this. Prayers that he is alright. Tearisci I want what you're having for dinner. Except I add green peppers too. But that sounds really good to me. Maybe I'll make Jeremy go to the store. I was joking with him that he should plan on eating nothing but grilled cheese and cookies this week. I hope lucyg will check in and let us know how she's feeling. bc2ca I'm just going to be honest with you and that is that I have never felt better in my entire life than on the plant based diet. Seriously. So after these holidays I'm going right back to it. It *does* suck being a grown up. 😉 I put my butter on the counter to soften this morning and then ran to the store for an hour. My dog ate almost an entire stick of butter while I was gone. 🙄 Damn dog. I've got two batters put together.

I hope that your dog doesn't get sick, jeremysgirl . Naughty doggie.
naby64, your dh is in the best place to get well, right now. ((((HUGS)))). It's good that his bp is down, too. I'm thinking healthy thoughts for you both.

I think the last time I had a "real" hair cut from a salon was 2019. DH cuts my hair for me. During Covid DH, DS and I cut each others hair. <shudder> The results were pretty bad but we weren't going anywhere anyway! I hate being a grown up sometimes. I've been saving this meme but this is the perfect occasion for it. I totally agree!

She still loves butter!

One of my dogs got into a package of brown sugar right before the holidays and was pretty sick. He was never one to get up on the counters but he did and paid the price!

naby64--hope they can help him and figure this out!!
we are gathering for brunch at 11.. before my son and his wife fly back to san francisco (in the middle of a raging storm there). they stay for one night, then back home to washington dc. my one daughter and dh and myself have another day and a half. I may go back to the museum again this afternoon.. my admission ticket was good for two days. maybe a quiet dinner. tomorrow I have a zoom to memorial service I want to attend.
dh, me and my two kids had a great italian dinner last night. it has been such a gift to have the whole family together.. first time in over 2 yrs. even my dh who was grouchy about the money we were spending on it is now super glad we did it.

Good morning from me. We landed last night (Friday) at about 11:35pm and it was the smoothest deplaning and airport clearance EVER. Straight out and to the passport e-gate, scanned, through the next checkpoint, scanned and off to baggage claim. I had priority baggage (Business Class perk) and I grabbed my bag from the carousel at 12:01. Customs was easy, straight through the green lane, and over the road to my hotel. Checked in and in my room by 12:30! I am awake early, so I thought I’d check in before going in search of coffee. The hotel has buffet breakfast, but I’m not paying $40 for a coffee, as I don’t eat breakfast these days. I saw a Hudson’s coffee in the terminal as I was coming out, so I’ll pop over there once I’ve showered and dressed. Then check out, pick up hire car and off to the other side of Melbourne to DH’s house.

Since we're telling naughty dog stories, our dachshund would sit by the refrigerator waiting for my mom to open the door. One day there was a pound of ground beef on the bottom shelf. He lunged for it and ate it so fast, waxed paper and all, before my mom could react. Another time we were visiting our relatives in PA and one day visited my mom's great aunt who was blind. She was amazing and lived by herself. We had said dog with us and my dad realized he had left the room so he went to check on him. He was standing on the kitchen table eating the butter. (What is it with dogs and butter?) He lived to be 13 and a half years old when my parents had to put him down (we got him when I was in 2nd grade and he lived until I was a sophomore in college.) My mom said it was the only time she saw my dad cry.

bc2ca I'm just going to be honest with you and that is that I have never felt better in my entire life than on the plant based diet. Seriously. So after these holidays I'm going right back to it. It *does* suck being a grown up. 😉 DH and I did a plant based diet for 6 months with the intent of seeing what it did for our blood work. We ended in Feb 2020, just in time for the pandemic so never got the answers. This was an easy diet for me as I'm not a big carnivore. Carbs are a big inflammation trigger for me, so I've actually felt best and had my psoriasis clear when following a Whole30 plan (essentially only lean proteins, fruits and vegetables - no grains, dairy, sugar)). I think I might go back on this for a month, maybe starting next week or maybe for the New Year. I was impressed/inspired by AussieMeg starting her eating plan in the middle of the holidays.
