Hi everyone! Well, I braved the hated mall yesterday and bought some Christmas gifts for my girls ... things were uneven and I needed to fix that ... got Molly a couple of gorgeous dresses! Hit Bath & BodyWorks too of course! Ordered some stuff online and now I just need to hit the drugstore for stocking stuffers like deodorant! Did I tell you that Emma's grade 7's classes made Christmas cards for the residents at my mum's place? They loved doing it! The three of us are going to a Christmas party there on Wednesday so we will deliver them then ... so exciting! Today will be spent doing my recycling and laundry that I didn't get done yesterday ... then my mum is coming over for dinner ... no idea what we are having ... maybe we will get takeout ... This is what I posted on Facebook today ... so freaking cute! How is your husband naby64 ? How is everyone else feeling today? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

We had horrific rain/wind all night. I'm sure there is major flooding somewhere. And lots of snow at Tahoe. We're lucky that we sit on a hill so are never in danger. Luckily it is supposed to stop raining by the time we go to a Christmas party tonight. Good friends who moved to Florida a few years ago are going to be there so we're excited to see them. Today will be more decorating and finishing up my cards at last! We'll eat a light snack instead of dinner because the food is always amazing at this party. leannec , I love that your DD's class made cards. Cute meme too.

Happy Saturday! The cleaners are here to do a deep clean and my dog is going nuts. He's like why are these people in my house?! I feel somewhat guilty being on the couch while they are cleaning but they are making good money so there's that. Hope your husband is doing well naby64! Tonight is my company office party and it's at a place that serves wings and has pickleball called "Chicken N Pickle" so it should be fun. My sister likes pickleball so I'm taking her as my plus one. I'll cheer her on from the sidelines. Hope you all have a good day!

Just sitting down to drink some coffee and thought I'd check in. All seems better this morning. BP is back to normal range, other things seem to finally be moving along. Slowly. 😆 There was no cause found for what happened. However, not taking his meds for the last 36 hours affected his balance and mobility a bit. He just asked if he should take his normal meds and I said with the BP being back down, yes. We will just monitor this weekend. So thank you all for the prayers and positive thoughts. I'm tired and my body is sore. It sat for 7.5 with almost no movement. I'm not used to that.
I was supposed to go to the Rock today and do shopping and errands but I woke up to rain. I don't like going from store to store in the rain. Add horrible drivers to wet streets? Nope. So I've started laundry and will vacuum in just a bit. Floors need steaming, the front area of the house readied for the boy. Bathrooms to be done. So errands may wait until Monday.
Lunch? No idea. Supper? Same. I did make a white bean dip with a lemon garlic topping for my dinner last night. That will most likely be my lunch. I'll see what DH is hungry for. Maybe salsa verde chicken soup.

Good morning. leannec, Emma is very thoughtful. What a sweet thing to do for the residents. One time my son's 1st grade teacher had the entire class make me cards when I was released from the hospital. It just made my day. What a special treat. I wanna be Emma and Molly on Christmas morning. cadoodlebug, enjoy seeing your friends and have fun at the party. naby64, perhaps you can get out tmw and do your shopping. I'm sure you have an overfull to-do list, but take it easy, too. Don't let your stress level become overwhelming. I'm glad that your husband is home and doing better. This is bad timing w/the upcoming wedding, but there's never a good time for a medical crisis. ((((HUGS)))). We're getting ready to head home. We had an intense storm last night. It was so loud that we were up for a while. I reached out to my doctor in Houston for help w/the headache. He gave me directions and it suddenly calmed way down yesterday. Today it's only very slight. I should have called him 53 days ago. What a relief to not be in such pain. Now I can focus on Christmas prep, if this thing has truly calmed down. I have to get my baking done and finish shopping. Today I have a feeling I'm in for a small nap due to last night's storm. Dh has bbq pork chow mein for dinner. Enjoy the day, my lovelies.

scrapmaven tomorrow is completely off the table. I help in the nursery at church in the morning, sing in choir, ditch the service to get checks ready to run. There are a couple of extra steps involved now that the lady who helps me isn't comfortable with. So I'll need to do those. Then our choir concert is tomorrow afternoon at 5. However, the handbells have to be there at 3 for practice, then choir arrives at 4. Concert. Then I get to hug on baby boy that arrives at 4 tomorrow. I'll go up on Monday and all will be good. My ODS just called me and told me I need to let go of stuff that is not in my control. He understands me and that I and my DD are the same. He said you both want to control the narrative and there are some things here you just don't need to be worrying about. The boy is wise on occasion. So my ear buds are going in and I'm going to do what I do for stress relief and that is clean. I do some of my best cleaning when I'm mad or stressed. I've thought more on dinner. DH has some potato soup he didn't eat the other night, so I'll heat that up for him. I've got some honey nut squash I may bake up to serve alongside the bean dip with some sourdough toast.

Not much going on here today. The temps over the last few days have been below 0 and it’s been nice having the ground frozen and no mud. I’m preparing for above freezing temps for the next few days which will mean lots of mud and wiping paws. Good thing he’s cute!
We are still sharing a vehicle until YDS buys himself a new car. It hasn’t been too bad actually and a good trial run for downsizing to one car in the future.
Supper will be something with the leftover chicken from my lunch yesterday - probably chicken salad.

I am not sure how this happens. It’s very nice outside. It’s 8°C and not raining yet. There is a storm happening in the Salish Sea side between us and Vancouver and they had to cancel ferries so if you want to leave the island you can’t until hopefully 7 pm. That is something normal for us. I am glad it doesn’t affect me but it’s holiday season and people are trapped.

Hey all - trying to get some stuff done today! Lots of shopping/baking on the todo list. Does anyone have any recipes that use pears? My husband received a Harry & David gift - and we really don't like pears.
I think it's hamburgers for dinner. Take care all!

I reached out to my doctor in Houston for help w/the headache. He gave me directions and it suddenly calmed way down yesterday. I'm so glad this miracle worker is on your team. DH added a few names to the Christmas card lists, so I'll be crafting in a bit but right now I'm knitting while sucked into watching Below Deck with DD. We are both late to the game and she was up to about season 3 before I finally was sucked in. We are out for DS's birthday dinner tonight. It's a new to us Italian restaurant and I'm 99% sure I'll have the cioppino.

A dollop of mayo and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese. Sounds absolutely gross but strangely satisfying. We got our minister of music a box for his bday this past Wednesday. He was so happy and excited. He loves them. A pear tart maybe?

Put half of a canned pear on a leaf of lettuce with shredded Velveeta on top. Yum!

I woke up early in new zealand to an alert for a tornado in our neighborhood in san francisco. first tornado alert ever in our city!!! winds clock just south of us at the airport at 82 mph!!! fortunately the storm cell passes and our house did not lose power.
we had fish and chips takeaway last night.. lots of things on the menu that were not usual to me.. like pineapple fritters, deep fried mars bars... extensive malaysian and chinese dishes,--I had the fish and scrapped off the breading. and some of the french fries.
1 more day.. so we are packing today. going over to our daughter's to watch a movie or do a walk or both. then go out for dinner one last time. I won't see her tomorrow as she will be at work. then back to winter!!

My mom used to make a salad with half of a banana sliced lengthwise then some mayo and broken walnuts. The other one was a pineapple ring with some cream cheese in the middle. I wonder how cream cheese and pear would taste.

ntsf , that is not the way to wake up,especially on a vacation to see your newly graduated dd. Thank goodness all was fine. Rest well and safe journeys tomorrow. Baked pears are delicious, bc2ca . Delta Dawn , that has to really suck for people who need to do Christmas prep on the mainland. Yikes. Though I did enjoy shopping in Victoria. I enjoy everything about Victoria. It's so pretty. Stay inside and be warm and cozy. naby64 , your son is very wise. He's also very right! You can't take on the universe. That never works. You can only do so much and then it's time to breathe and find something comforting for yourself. You are a busy lady, but you still need to take those moments where you can. Weddings are fun and romantic and very stressful to organize. I hope that your dh is resting comfortably. I would love to hear you sing.
karenlou, it's a very busy time, but I hope that you're taking time for yourself to rest and regroup. This is such a sad time and I'm grateful that both you and KelleeM have eachother to hug and support one another. You're both in my thoughts and my heart.

Since none of my regular shows are on right now, I’ve been watching Heartland. There is a whack of seasons and I’m currently on season 3. In one of last nights episodes, the horse died and I was a blubbering idiot. I don’t even really like horses!

Remember during the pandemic, when everyone was watching Tiger King? We found Kings of Tupelo (prob not the exact name) on Netflix last night and watched all 3 episodes. Very similar vein to Tiger King in that no one in it has any redeeming qualities. Not recommending it, just using it as a segue to what we found next on PBS: The Violent Femmes performing with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. It was a strange night. 😂😂
Anyway, dh and I went out for Chinese food last might nad had TONS of leftovers for tonight.

Warm the cream until the butter melts. Add chopped garlic to your taste. At least 2-3 cloves. Then grated parmesan. Maybe 1-1.5 cups. Stir until the parm is melted.
