I think this is a variation of the question being discussed, but if I'm wrong and actually completely off-topic, I apologize. So, trying to get back into doing more scrapping after my success (in 2023) with 6x8 albums for a specific trip. I took a class at S&CT making a 6x8 Christmas flip book. We did very little Christmassing (iykwim) here this year and took NO PHOTOS, so I won't be making the actual project in the class. But it was interesting seeing a professional put together a 6x8 album. The ones I did last year were all full-sheet layouts (like a "regular" scrapbook only smaller) but she used a combination of full-size pockets/layouts, smaller pocket pages (some with the embellishments attached outside the pocket), and "insert pages" made of cardstock punched to fit it, some with pockets, some shaped, all kinds of gizmos. It was interested seeing the "state of the art" for scrapbooks this size, but I'm not sure how much appeals to me. I keep up with the sharing thread and feel like I mostly see traditional large-page layouts, some digital. But Pea-ple here talk about Project Life and 3x4 cards and things, which I think are pocket scrapping systems. Not seeing those things shared much (at all?), I'm wondering how many here folks use pocket/cards styles? Embellishments on the outside? Combinations of full-page, pockets, and "inserts" in the same album? Was this just sort of an element of this particular instructor's style or an actual trend? I made a 6x8 album that was a mix of full 6x8 layouts, pocket cards, other types of inserts, flip flaps, and embellishments on the outside. There’s pictures of my pages probably back in my Flickr from 2023. However, it’s harder to photograph pages such as these and the subject of my mini-album was more personal in nature so I didn’t share all the pages.

I scrapbook 8.5 x 11. I use 3 ring binders, that have a cover insert on the front. I make a page layout for the cover. Every layout goes in a sheet protector. I scrapbook in chronological order, January - December. Do you purchase these binders at places like Office Depot ? I was thinking of getting one, but not sure about how it will hold up. I usually get mine at HL, the regular scrapbooks, but they have cut way back on their stock. Thanks. I get them at office depot, same exact ones. The Office Depot brand.... 2 inch binder, circle ring. They have held up very well through the years-decades.

I do mainly 12x12.....for our pets, I do 8.5x11.....prefer the smaller size for their books. I need to try some different sizes, maybe someday.

ScrapbookMyLife - thank you for that information. I thought I had already replied. Do you use their page protectors too ? Thanks so much. Awhile ago I was looking at these and even had some in my cart ( in the actual store ) but couldn’t make up my mind if it would work or not. So good to know that is an option.

I scrapbook in 8.5x11 and 12x12. If my journaling and pictures fit in 8,5x11, that's my preferred size.

12x12 for our trips, a ticket scrapbook, and our wedding and wedding cards scrapbooks.
Going to do a 9x12 Project Life this year.
And maybe a 6x8 if we buy a house this year to document all of that fun.

For me it depends on what I’m scrapping. If I have vacation or any event where I have a lot photos I go with 12x12. I like to get more pix on the page so I don’t end up with a load of pages. If there are only a few pictures I use 6x8.

8.5x11 is my favorite size for scrap by far, but I do occasionally do a 6x8 or traveler’s notebook.
On a related note, I’m just getting back to scrapping after a hiatus and I went to scrapbook.com to purchase a couple black D-ring 8.5x11 albums, and it looks like they no longer carry those in their own brand or We R Makers. Does anyone know the best place to purchase them currently, or which brand manufacturers them?

I do 12x12 project life and I buy those from scrapbook.com.
For other projects like week in the life, December daily, and one little word I do a variety of sizes: 6x8, 3x8, 8x10 and I buy those from Ali Edwards.

I've tried a lot of different sized, but come back to 12x12. It my preference for traditional layouts. I tried 9x12 in 2024 for PL, but ran out of room at the end of the year. Plus, I had to really edit my layouts to make it fit. Going back to 12x12 for 2025

I scrap 12x12. I take so many photos I need to fit many on one page.
I have MANY CTMH albums that I now try to find on Ebay. I was 'going' to try WRMK and recently I looked at them and they are peeling. I now have 25 WRMK albums that are worthless. I have also bought CM albums for projects. They are just too costly, even though they seem to be the best!

9x12 for PL. “Project” albums are typically 6x8 but I’ve also done 10x8 and a travelers notebook here and there.

I do like to include smaller pages in those albums. I use 8.5x11, 8x8, and 6x8 inserts. I thinks it's fun and interesting. My DD hates it, LOL. She likes things all the same. I also cut down the pocket pages occasionally and include those. I don't use the PL cards, although I will use the cut apart cards in collections. I just don't buy packages of cards.

Almost exclusively 12x12, but I do occasionally create a mini album. I recently bought some 8x8 albums for scrapbooking special events.

I started scrapbooking with 12"x12" albums in 2006. I still have two Artbin organizers filled with scrapbooking layouts in progress from that time period. They are like little time capsules filled with things like metal embellishments and sheets of BasicGrey letter stickers. My plan is to finish all those pages-in-progress to put in 12x12 albums.
Otherwise, all my recent pages are 6"x8".
re "Where do you get them?" I have no idea where I'm going to get more when I run out because the ones I've been using aren't being made any more.
I'm thinking maybe from here on out, I'll make my own mini books using bookbinding techniques instead of buying expensive albums and page protectors.

I was an 8.5 Scrapbooker for 20+ years and last year started 9x12. I also get my albums from scrapbook.com. Occasionally I scrap 6x8 or 8x8 in that size album but not often. Same. Started 8.5x11 in the mid-90s. I used baseball card page protectors to store my collection of Mrs. Grossman stickers 😂 I also switched to scrapbook.com 9x12 and love the size so much! 6x8 for DD, OD, and short trips. Usually SB.com brand albums, but I’m loving the AC Christmas album from Vicki B. The spine is huge. I wish all 6x8 album spines were this wide. I’m toying with the idea of using an 8x8 or 8x10 for DD next year.

I'd actually thought of trying 8x8 first, but couldn't find albums or page protectors that were 8x8, so I opted for 6x8 instead. Do you have older 8x8 albums stashed, or is there a newer source of them I should know about? Just curious.

I scrapbooked 12x12 exclusively since 1997 (started with CM) until SC came out with their handbooks (their original 6x8 albums), and now except my daughter’s wedding album from 2018 that I am still completing (I get bored with projects and take a break to start on another 😕), I scrapbook 6x8 mainly and occasionally 10x8 for Christmas. I am going to do 10x8 project life album like AE is doing in her new class using her quarterly kit and stash, and will include layouts too. It will be monthly - not weekly.
I love 6x8 for layouts and vacations. The exception were our trips to Alaska and Hawaii which I felt deserved 9x12 lol I seriously love those two albums.
I tried 3x8 and never finished that. I have some 4x8 Citrus Twist albums but I think they are going to end up not being my style after all. They are so pretty though!

I do all sizes, 4x4, 4x6, 6x8, 8x8, 12x8, 9x12 & 12x12. I guess I haven't done 6x12, I don't have any albums that size but I do have all the others. I really depends on the project what size I use, like one of my Italy scrapbooks is a 12x12, then a Disneyland trip is 6x8. I did two 6x12 albums - one a Christmas DD one and the other I made and I love them both. I didn’t even know they made 12x8 albums - where do you find them?

Do you have older 8x8 albums stashed, or is there a newer source of them I should know about? I have some older CM 8x8 albums...circa first half of the aughts or so. I don't know of anyone making albums that size now (but as I mostly make cards these days, would I?).

For the past 7ish years, I've only scrapped 12x12 layouts, except for the 2023 December Daily I need to finish. I only have one more day left (the 25th!). I chose 8x10 for my 2024 December Daily album that I have yet to start.
In the past, I have added various scrapbook page sizes to my 12x12 album, but I run into the problem of not know what to put on the backside of the odd-sized pages. For example, if I create a single 8.5x11 page and insert it into my album, what do I put on the back? I don't necessarily have a story to tell for the other side. I think I might start adding a pretty piece of paper to the back and not worrying about it.
One of my goals this year is organize my pages chronologically.

I want to make some 6x6.I still have a few blank albums. I was looking at completed pages yesterday and the 6x6 wereso cute. I remembered how quick and fun they were to make. craftymom101 i do the blank paper thing. I have a lot of cute papers that I don't use, especially some fantastic October Afternoons I wanted to save... forever, apparently.

I still do 12x12. Once in a blue moon, I do a mini album but I find smaller space too restrictive. If I want to put a bunch of unrelated things together, I will do pocket page.

For layouts and project life, I scrap 12x12. I'm on the hunt for a new source for those albums. I won't be purchasing from We Are Makers as most of my albums are peeling. December Daily's tend to be 6x8 I've made a few mini albums in random custom made sizes or even using a file folder.

I pretty much only scrap 8.5x11 and have for many years. I recently completed my 12x12 wedding album redo that was started years ago. An occasional 12x12 might get done but rarely.
