Yeah, Trump ran with the now-retracted Fox narrative that the suspect crossed the border at Eagle Pass, so that’s what his followers will believe. He’ll never retract that statement now that we’ve learned the guy was a US citizen, born and radicalized (and armed) right here in Texas. And served in the US military!! *** BTW: That was a rude group not answering questions. The press was quite polite! Kennedy was the rudest of the bunch! Threw killing Christmas in there too! They even zapped the FBI special agent and were rude to her. |

Sadly, one of the people killed was Tiger Bech, the brother of one of my favorite LSU football players from several year ago. It brings back horrible memories of Kate Steinle who was shot and killed on a Pier in SF on 7/1/2015.

Sadly, one of the people killed was Tiger Bech, the brother of one of my favorite LSU football players from several year ago. It brings back horrible memories of Kate Steinle who was shot and killed on a Pier in SF on 7/1/2015. So sorry. Just senseless all the way around! |

What we're covering
• At least 10 people were killed and 35 injured when a driver rammed a pickup truck into a crowd during New Year’s celebrations on Bourbon Street in New Orleans early on Wednesday morning. The FBI is investigating it as an “act of terrorism.”
• The FBI has identified the suspect as a 42-year-old Texas man and Army veteran. The FBI said the suspect, who was killed in a firefight with officers, had an ISIS flag in the vehicle at the time of the attack. The FBI also said it is investigating potential associations with terrorist organizations.
• The FBI said it doesn’t think the driver was “solely responsible.” Weapons, as well as “potential improvised explosive devices,” otherwise known as IEDs, were found in the vehicle, the FBI said. Officials also located IEDs in the area.
• The attack in the popular French Quarter happened less than a mile from where The Sugar Bowl was to be hosted Wednesday. The annual college football game was postponed for 24 hours for public safety reasons, the bowl’s CEO said.

Consensus is that he was working alone, that there was no one else involved. MSNBC said the people who appeared that they had been planted or doing something with the IEDs were not and not involved.
However, the FBI is not presently stating that info yet...

At least one other IED was found in the French Quarter, and was detonated by law enforcement, a person familiar with the investigation said. The number of IEDs left behind is a large part of why the FBI believes the man may have had an accomplice, sources tell CBS News. Investigators are combing through video to see if there were accomplices involved in placing the devices, sources told CBS News.

The property they raided is 3.5 miles from my house and my kids' school. We also spend quite a bit of time in New Orleans each year. These situations are devastating every single time they happen, but it gets that much more more real when you really think that you could have literally been there. |
