stormsts I'm sorry about your grandson. Good thing Grandma was there with milkshakes to make it all better. Oh he doesn't want me to make them, it has to be Pa. Reid and his Pa are inseparable. I was the one waiting in the ER last night and his first words to me were "where's Pa"? Luckily, he was in the truck waiting on us. This is cute. Your DH must be a good grandpa.

That's such awful news about the attack in New Orleans. I only just this minute heard about it while watching the morning news. I sorry that one of the people killed is someone with a connection to you cadoodlebug . I did make it to midnight on NYE, and surprisingly so did DSO. We left the city when we finished dinner, to avoid the crowds. After dropping our friends home, we were home just before midnight, and DSO watched the first minute of fireworks on TV, then went to bed. We had planned to stay at our friends' apartment (their second home) for the night, but we were dog sitting DD's new puppy. I was worried about him (1) destroying our house and (2) freaking out about fireworks, so we decided to come home. DS and his girlfriend are house sitting for DD while she and her partner are overseas. He texted me the other day asking me to make a lasagne for them. I did that last night - I made one for them and one for us.

cadoodlebug oh I'm sorry. This is just a senseless act. I texted DD as soon as I woke up. Her best friend and his husband live in NOLA. She said they don't go down to Bourbon St and they were good. I'm sorry for the families of all those involved. Y'all, my greens were frozen! My outside fridge is on the fritz and sometimes will freeze everything in there. Just the greens were frozen. I ran them under water and tossed them in a pot. Tell me they will be ok. I really look forward to greens.

Happy New Year Dinner Tribe!
Last night was wonderful. We had a lovely evening together.
Tonight the kids are coming and I am serving filet, lobster (we have leftovers and I am so happy!), salad, tomatoes, and corn muffins.

I'm another that slept through midnight last night. We usually go for dim sum on New Year's day, but DD couldn't commit to meeting us today, so we pushed it to Sunday. DH has been making noise about doing a polar bear swim but didn't mention it this morning. He, DS, the pup and I drove up the coast to Laguna Beach to wander around and get some fresh air. It is such a pretty little community and is full of great art inspiration. Next up for me is unraveling the bit of knitting I did last night while watching The Six Triple Eight. It was really good, but paying attention to it meant I wasn't paying attention to my needles. Dinner is going to be the Korean tacos I've mentioned and shelved a few times in the last week or so.

Made it to midnight(I always do) Dh did for the 1st time in years. We rented Gladiator 2 and it was 2.5 hours so that helped. Then I watched Anderson & Andy. I love those 2.
I admit I’ve never had black eyed peas. But I like greens and hame so to me it sounds good. I also love beets- the other dirt food according to my family.
We’re having kielbasa with cabbage steaks and cauliflower. Rechauffe scalloped potatoes too.
The OSU game will be on tv here but I’ll just be in & out. Terrible what happened in NOLA

I just found out the brother of one of my favorite LSU football players from a few years ago, was killed in that horrific crash in the French Quarter in NOLA. So senseless. The Sugar Bowl football game between Notre Dame and Georgia has been postponed until tomorrow. So terrible!

I know I haven't checked in for a while but had to wish you all a happy new year!! bc2ca I love Laguna Beach. We have family nearby and love to visit. scrapmaven enjoy your trip jeremysgirl I'm glad you are starting the new year with a new job! We stayed up till past midnight. DS was invited to a party an hour or more away and after finishing work late decided it would be too tiring to go. We were going to watch a movie and asked if he wanted to facetime and watch together. He said sure and we had fun watching "When Harry Met Sally". We haven't done that since covid days. Tonight we are making filet mignon with a balsamic wine reduction, baked potatoes and asparagus.

It is super good to see you Marina! Hopefully you'll be with us again in 2025. ❤️ Seriously I'm just going to say that my dinner was delicious. Jeremy was so skeptical he took the smallest little bit he possibly could to be polite. And then he tasted it. And he went back and filled his bowl right up. Chloe loved it so much that she asked me for the recipe. It was a super tasty way to ring in 2025 with a bit of good luck. naby64 if you want to try this recipe, let me know. I swear nothing tasted like dirt. 🤣😉

Here is the recipe I used. I could not find vegan andouille so I subbed vegan chorizo. I also used a full onion and a full green pepper. Jeremy was like I'll definitely eat that again.

There is a bakery/restaurant, C'est la Vie, on the main street, right by the park. They have a balcony that overlooks the ocean. The lobster bisque that is delicious. This is my happy place. Dinner was leftover Chinese food from NYE.

Happy New Year! I hope everyone is having a great start to 2025!
2024 was very chaotic and challenging but now that I’m retired (yay!) I hope to have more of a presence here. I check in weekly and catch up on the first page of the NSBR but don’t post often. I used to join in on the scrapping board as well but haven’t scrapped in a year and a half so hope to get back into paper crafting too.
We had a few friends over last night and we all made it to midnight. I ate lots of cheese! DSO and I cleaned up and were in bed by 1:30 so slept in this morning and then enjoyed a mimosa with plans of going out for breakfast which turned into brunch at 2pm lol.
Took most of the decorations down today but as they were sparse this year anyway it wasn’t too big of an effort. Watched a movie tonight (Speak No Evil, disturbing and suspenseful!) didn’t accomplish much today but after the busyness of the holidays and prepping for NYE it was nice to have a chill day.
I retired on Dec 20 but my workplace closes for 2 weeks for the holidays so I won’t really feel retired until Jan 6 when everyone else goes back to work.
