Good morning to you all.
I finally got a somewhat good night's sleep last night. The stuffiness is subsiding bit by bit. I might feel human again by the end of the week.
Wasn't February long? Usually I complain about the 45 days of January but February felt like 120...
I'm happy for a new month and warmer weather!
I think I'm going to start cleaning up my scrapbook room today. But I also need to fit in meal planning, grocery ordering and getting my tax documents ready for the accountant.
How's this coming week shaping up for you? Any plans? Anything fun you're hoping to do?

February seemed a billion days long. And what a roller coaster ride it felt like. I am one of those people who loves a new month and setting goals. This month I am going to try to start scrapbooking more with a focus on using my stash. I’m attempting to use something from my stash every single day.

Saturday: For me, February went by fast. Didn't do much scrapbooking this past week. It's been a busy week....had a lot on this weeks schedule and to-do list. My reward to myself, for getting through this past week.....is an ebay order of older scrapbook products. I love when someone cleans out their product stash and lists it for sale. One persons proverbial trash-junk-unwanted stuff, is another persons treasure.
These next couple weeks should be much slower. I much prefer slower, quiet, staying home more rather than less, and a minimal to-do list.

My perfect day would include playing with paper at least once!
I need to put together dh's March calendar, and don't have a lot of detail to add yet. The end of February kinda snuck up on me. A bunch of if's and maybe's this coming week. Will know better by Monday.

I just canceled my March Spellbinders subscription.
I joined back in November when I really liked the November BetterPress kit. Got December's, then January I didn't like so switched to the Stencil kit. Now, in March, I don't like either the BetterPress or the Stencil kit, so canceled again.
I'm getting picky about what I buy.

I am currently printing photos. Next up is planning out my layouts to meet the 28-4-28 challenge. I've already updated my planner for this next week and added some monthly stuff, including financial stuff. I've noticed lots of irritating little tasks are adding up, so it's time to try to knock them out--things like making medical appointments for routine stuff, health insurance stuff, and renewing my driver's license and car tags for one of our vehicles. Yuck! But part of life so I need to attend to it. I did my taxes a few weeks ago and that was depressing since I need to write a check. At least I know how much it is, I guess. I think I'll wait until the deadline or shortly before. No sense in sending money until I have to.
It was a super busy work week, so I am very happy to get a couple days of downtime. I also had a dental procedure this past week, not bad really but sheesh it bled unexpectedly when I got back to work and that was horrifying looking. All fixed up now and it really wasn't that bad but there's no way to make a mouth full of blood look good, as we all know from gruesome deaths in the movies.
Every weekend these days I work on retirement plans. I like to play around with contingencies and work out options. My ideal is that I will retire and not need a part-time job at all, but I'm thinking about branching out into cool little side gigs here and there. My husband works for the federal government and I don't think our initial plan is a sure thing anymore, so I like to make alternate ones. I think it's a self-soothing anxiety response, maybe. At least we are luckier than a lot of federal employees--he should definitely get to retire with a pension--it's just that it may be a lot sooner and a lot less than we planned for. We'll see, I guess. Strange times we are living in. Hope for the best, plan for the worst? Not the worst mantra.

I just came in from weeding. I'm tired and glad we're going out for dinner and I don't have to cook. March will be very busy for us and I'm hoping to do photo a day for a month in review layout rather than scrapping each event. I bought some cut files while they were on sale last month and I'm excited to use them. I also signed up for Allison Davis' Pattern Play class that starts on Monday. I am one of those people who loves a new month and setting goals. This month I am going to try to start scrapbooking more with a focus on using my stash. I’m attempting to use something from my stash every single day. Great goal. Let us know how you do with that.

Besides my husband's post-nasal drip scratchy throat, we seem to all be in the clear illness-wise after 3 1/2 weeks. Hallelujah!
Good thing, too, because we have all the things this week: instrument selection night for my youngest, eye exams for my oldest & me, Lenten Bible study for my husband, a double date with friends of ours, and a small road trip with girlfriends of mine to a bookstore opening + lunch at a tea house. I believe the weather will be warmer, too, so I'm looking forward to crawling out of the hole of January+February.

I'm looking forward to my son and grandson going to a hockey game this afternoon. It's about an hour away, so I should have the entire afternoon home alone. I'll be playing in my craft area.

I have papers and photos chosen for a layout, letter stickers also. I probably need to round up a few little embellishments and get started. Photos are printed. I have not created a 12x12 layout in....almost 18 months? I can't remember. I've done other, smaller stuff, but not a 12x12. I have four on the docket for today, possibly 5, to complete the 28-4-28 challenge over on the challenge board. It was so helpful in getting me jumpstarted again. I really needed this, I think.

quinmm14 - hope you are feeling better! I arrived home from a trip Tuesday night, and came down with the flu Wednesday. No other bug is possible. I haven't been this sick since 1998 (it's that memorable). I've had covid 3 times and this was so much worse. My 103 degree fever broke last night, and now I can start recovering if I ever stop coughing. God is telling me not to travel Can I ask you guys about your egg prices? It's all over the news...but they never exactly say how MUCH you US peas are paying! Ours are $3.49-3.99/dozen large right now which is double what I paid before covid! I can drive out to a farm and get free range eggs for $4-$5/dozen, but since my household apparently runs on eggs, I usually just get them in bulk at costco... mikklynn - enjoy your empty house! Are they playing hockey or watching? I'm getting picky about what I buy. I think this is great! I struggle sometimes because it's easy to justify a purchase to support our industry and the smaller companies, but at the same time I need to remember just how much stuff I already own...and use it instead of buying new.

I paid almost $6 for a dozen extra large from the cage-free (but indoor) egg farm in the next town over. Because of the indoors (rather than free range/pasture raised thing) they are not experiencing bird flu outbreaks. Organic free-range at the grocery store are upwards of $7/dozen.

Well, I have to be honest, I joined the Let's Stamp Together club (when I dropped the Spellbinders club). AND... I did purchase the SCT fall event and the Halloween 1-day event. Are you participating in those? FOMO is hard for me to resist. I didn't sign up for the spring card event and am pouting at all the nice peeks being posted for THAT. Hope you're feeling better!

kitbop, store brand $8 a dozen in NJ. I did buy 24 Egglands best for $12 today. I’m just buying in bulk now. It’s wild. Our prices are usually similar to yours. Last time I don’t remember this going in too long and then they dropped back down.

kitbop Feel better soon, that flu is nasty. Egg prices here are insane, it's almost $10 for the pack of 18. A dozen is over $7. I'd been buying the liquid eggs as we're just not big egg eaters here, but the price on those has gone up as well. I'm up way too early this a.m. for me. Another restless night, I think I need to look into some mindful sleeping habits. Maybe I get too stimulated right before sleep? At any rate, I'm gonna need way more coffee than usual to get me through today...

Aldi is almost $6/dozen (for basic eggs - not organic or cage raised or anything). Publix was closer to $8. We are fortunate to occasionally get a dozen from one of DH's coworkers for free (or actually as a thank you for saving our egg cartons for them) DD18 cooks eggs when dinner doesn't work out for her (she has sensory and texture issues with food) so they aren't optional here. Our rule is that if she's not eating dinner then she at least needs protein and a veg as a sub and she typically makes eggs with sauteed onions and peppers. Today is a housework day but I'm hoping to at least scrap a page for my veterans album - DH has a strong interest in the military people I find while doing genealogy and always asks about them, what they, and how they are related so I've started writing that up and scrapping a simple page for each and putting in an album. I'm planning to organise by war. I've done the journalling and printed the photos for this one so it should be quick and easy

Hey everyone! Checking in! It's been a few days since I popped in on this thread. Life is good. Scouty is better but he is going to have surgery on Thursday. His vet checked on some of his growths and one came back that needs to come off. It's on his eyelid, so its a little touchy if they will be able to get it or not. Otherwise, the weather is warming up (thank you, Jesus!) but now its high wind season. Last year we had the biggest wildfire in Texas history that burned less than 3 miles from my house...so we take high wind days very, very seriously around here. This AM I had a funeral to go to, and wow. I hate going to funerals, but I am so glad I went. There were very few people there (the lady who passed was in her late 90s. Im guessing all her friends already died?). This PM I am cleaning house. Last week was a complete wash on getting anything other than vet appts done, so I am behind on laundry + cleaning. Tomorrow is my hair cut day, so I need to buckle down and get it all done today. I swear, my life will be boring, boring, boring and then bam. Appts and things to get done all pile up and demand attention at the same time. kitbop sorry you are sick. I've missed you & had to ask some of the other Peas where you were. I had missed that you went on vacation!

mom - I missed that scouty was unwell! NO! Saying all the prayers that the tumour can be removed well. I am - finally - on the mend although I'm probably at about 25% so far - however, it feels so much better than the -1028% I was at that I'm happy about it I've call in sick again tomorrow to let myself recover one more day before a day full of activity and talking. I sat at my scrap desk last night for about 30 minutes, but apparently creativity takes brainpower and energy. I know we often talk about "what kills your mojo" but I think crafters SERIOUSLY underestimate the work we're doing because we see it as a "fun hobby". It also made me think of the you-tubers and class-makers I enjoy, and how we can be hard on them when they miss dates or deadlines because they've been ill. I'll be way more forgiving for the next while, and clap a little harder when I hear them croaking their way through a live-stream or voice over! I'm gonna need way more coffee than usual to get me through today... Hope your day went smoothly! Fitful/sleepless nights are bad. My brain often turns into an enemy in the wee hours - like it cannot find a positive thought anywhere. I'm another coffee devotee but I can't touch it after 4pm.

kitbop glad you’re on the mend. The flu really takes it out of you, very nasty bug. And you’re right, creativity takes more energy and stamina than we give credit for. I had to take several days off from cardmaking (and almost everything else) when I had the flu last month. And what you said about the 3am thoughts! Always such a spiral of negativity! I’ve started reading even if I’m not all the way awake, just to try and reset my brain. I really love my kindle with dark mode.

Hi All! I finally sat down and completed a LO last night. First since Jan 7th apparently, when I posted on the 50 LO thread. Today is work and over the lunch hour (so now) I'll try and get some groceries as we are supposed to get walloped by a storm tonight. Sigh...I thought maybe winter was going to go out quietly but I guess not.

I'm trying to go back to work tomorrow. Today was still very rough and I'm not sure work will go - I will be a burden on my team for sure - but I need to try! Getting over a bad flu/cold/etc definitely is harder at 50+ than it was 10 years ago. I feel entirely devoid of energy and my neck flared even worse - chronic injuries are going to make themselves known when one is ill!
OTOH, I'm pretty sure I lost 5 lbs this week... ("i'm just 1 stomach flu away from my goal weight"...name that movie!)
I got a layout done last night. I put on some old Shimelle videos and pretended I had someone there to keep me company. It worked!

I have been stuck on a layout for about 10 days. I have a sketch, but maybe just don't love the paper or maybe the embellishments. Eh, we also are finishing our two bathrooms. Complete gut and renovation. One bathroom had the toilet about 5 inches from the shower and about 2.5 feet from the vanity. Why? Why not center the toilet between the two? We also figured out that the previous owner finished the lower level in 2007 and must have had a friend do the work. The plumbing had to be redone, the tile work had all raw edges showing in the shower (plus used 2 inch checkerboard tile), and they failed to put in a fan (plumber called it a fart fan) in a room with no window. The upstairs bathroom had no insulation (or wall) when the tile was taken down. All of those pipes were exposed to the attic. So all of that got fixed. Shower doors get installed Thursday and we're calling it done.
I have Thursday and Friday off work due to conferences, so a nice four day weekend.

OK, guys, c'mere! Listen. Listen; here's what I think we gotta do: the next time Winter goes out for a smoke break, let's lock all the doors behind him! OK? We had temps up in the high 60's this past week and then half the school districts were closed or delayed today due to blizzards and high winds. The nice weather was glorious and I did get to spend time outside cleaning up several garden areas. And by garden I mean things that the deer don't eat. I have shoveled 15 times this winter and there have been a handful more times that I just let my husband do it by himself. I am done with snow. When I got home today, the turkeys were waiting for me and came running. I swear they are prehistoric chickens. When they see me they just coming running and gobbling. They are all wild, but man, I love them. There are over 50 when they are all together. This weekend I went to Garden of the Gods and took pictures of the Rocky Mountain sheep herd that lives there. They were posing. Once the snow goes, they head back up in elevation.

950nancy I love wild turkeys! I can just picture them running towards you. My former office was on a nature preserve. They would look at themselves in the reflection from the windows. It was funny, because it looked like they were looking in. We are getting some snow and high winds here this morning. I am so happy to be at home.
