I am sure there is a way to get the streaming apps on your tv. I use a firestick or Roku and can add the apps in them so I am sure there is a way for you to do so. Britbox and Acorn are great options 😃

Almost all of Trumps advisors and cabinet are incompetent. That’s what happens when theiir only credentials are working on Fox and loyalty to Trump. It’s pretty clear none of them understand economics, the tariffs or the stock market. Or, if they do, they are looking out for the financial interests of their billionaire buddies and not the American people. bsky.app/profile/techconnectify.bsky.social/post/3ljpuy4nu5k2h Technology Connections @techconnectify.bsky.social I've been thinking a lot about that bumper sticker which says "everything looks like a conspiracy theory when you don't understand how anything works" and folks it's pretty obvious to me that the people in power right now have absolutely no desire to understand how anything works.

I saw a post on Threads yesterday? I think? Totally paraphrasing as I can't find it or remember exact wording. But the jist of it was this: Announce tariffs happening, tank the stock market Big money friends buy all the cheap stock Redact tariffs, billionaires make even more money as stocks rise. Then somebody commented: Stock fraud investigation All go to jail LOL I admit to not following all this disgusting crap that SG ( stable genius) has been doing because it makes me sick with panic. But I agree with this explanation. I think a lot of his actions are despicably calculated.

He is a freaking idiot. While I know that tariffs from other countries hurt us, I kinda hope that Canada continues theirs until FF (and I mean eff-face when I say that) completely drops this madness. The tariffs shall continue until this madness ends, but possibly more importantly, the boycott is not going to. It's really, really, really hard to piss off Canadians en masse. There's three things that'll do it - threaten our hockey, our sovereignty, or our French. Old Mac Donald has done the last two, and we're not going to forget it. It won't matter if the tariffs end tomorrow and he pinkie-promises (hah!) there'll never be another. Consumer tastes are utterly soured on anything marked USA and that's incredibly hard to reverse. Strawberries, fruit and other USA products are rotting on our shelves - stores can't even give them away. We'll buy from anyone else at this point even if it's more expensive. I don't foresee this tariff baiting ending anytime soon. FF is a narcissist and a bully, and he's having too much "fun" making the rest of the world squirm. The only person he cares about is himself.

Very stable genius has no idea what he's doing. Yeah, true and not true at the same time. They told people to not panic & buy the dips. Meaning they intended to manipulate the stock market. So what he’s doing had a strategy ( for billionaires ) but he is so shitty at it that it’s still fully tanking the economy and the stock market. It’s also still tanking their WLFi portfolio is still in the red despite all their manipulations. Certain billionaires have taken their money & gone home. Just enough to send destable vibes to the masses. In addition Canada ain’t playing they just took everything US off shelves & said f it. Which has a huge affect on our economy. Which a president should have known. Add to that many Americans are uneasy because everything is a shit storm every gif damn day we just aren’t buying like we were either. He should have played his manipulation game first while either planning the rest of the shit show for later or going about it more slowly as to not create the panic he is creating. He had a strategy but his lack of knowledge and skill at enacting his strategies has not played out like he would like. “Surprise, surprise” who would have thought that a man with 6 bankruptcies would be crappy at running the country like a business.

I know this is all true in the big picture. However, IMO there are some people on both sides that are continuing to try and support each others’ economies, businesses, and people because they are so intertwined in their daily lives. It is not the Government that they are screwing…it is their friend and or person they have done business with for years (no matter what side of the border it was done on). Both sides are being hurt, especially the little business in the small towns all along the border. Our state’s Governor is continuing to try and work with our Canadian friends, as they are with us. My niece’s class is on their way to Montreal for the day as we speak. Our relation with Canada right now feels like that of kids’ that are secretly best friends, but because their parents are feuding they have to keep their continued friendship under wraps. This is so so sad to me. ETA - To all the Canadians, I do get it. believe me. And I do not condem the actions that you are taking, it just makes me sad. I am 60 years old and this is the first time I have really seen any divisiveness between our borders. Again it just brings sadness.

I agree with you as I switched to French's ketchup a few years ago and never bought another bottle of heinz since. It will be similar to this but on a much larger scale. I bought a 5 dollar head of Canadian broccoli at the grocery store yesterday and it was the best broccoli I have eaten in years....

So DH and I had this discussion again last night as he put away groceries (yes DH does the groceries lol)
He is actively trying to buy Canadian wherever possible - but we've agreed if the company is located in Canada (even though it is US owned) and employs Canadian workers and uses Canadian ingredients to make said product, that works for us.

I sure hope the peas who thought the talk of Canada being the 51st state and calling Trudeau “governor” was just a joke are reading this thread and can see the consequences of their dear leader’s words and actions.

I feel for the neighbors of my brother's child.. they live in pt roberts.. one of the places in the us where you have to drive through canada or take a boat to get there. the town's economy has been built on canadians shopping in us stores for better prices.. just south of vancover bc.. but I think that might sink..

He doesn't have a clue how tariffs work. He's like the rest of the MAGA morons that think Canada and Mexico pay it, not ultimately consumers here. No, haven't you heard, higher prices, inflation and the like are now patriotic. It's all ok now that a republican is president.

We read all of the labels when grocery shopping to make sure we're buying anything but US.
We even switched our dog's food that he's eaten for 11 years to a Canadian brand. We did it slowly, but he's fully on a Canadian one now.
Canadians are serious.

But what does Trump’s statement even mean? According to the one posted by pinklady above, he said: “… I have agreed that Mexico will not be required to pay Tariffs on anything that falls under the USMCA Agreement …” Surely any tariffs that he imposes are paid by US companies, not Mexico. If Mexico is paying any tariffs, then it is as a result of them being imposed by Mexico - and Trump has no say in who pays what. Or am I missing something? He’s an idiot who doesn’t understand how tariffs work or does understand and continually lies about who’s paying them in an effort to keep his base from understanding the actual implications of what he’s doing. That’s not hard because a big chinck of his base is ignorant and absolutely do not understand how economic work

I won't refuse a free bag of dog food when my dog is 120 pounds LOL. Next brand will be Canadian.

The blatant disrespect from day one wasn’t funny to us in the least. I’ve been told Canadians don’t have a sense of humour, that we don’t understand Trump’s sense of humour (ha! As if that narcissistic POS has a sense of humour). And now the RWNJs are big mad because PM Trudeau has been calling the idiot Donald. It always only works one way for them. It’s too bad that no country will want to be friendly with the US anymore. Well except for Russia.

I'm saying HE thinks he's funny. And he's not.

It’s too bad that no country will want to be friendly with the US anymore. Well except for Russia. It was eye-rolling funny-adjacent the first time. "Oh look how dumb Donny's being, yet again." Second, third, fourth time? No, not even remotely amusing. USA's admin is actively trying to crush us, and Canada is taking the threat seriously. We can't ever go back to being so dependent economically on the US, and yeah this sudden shift is going to hurt a lot. But it needs to happen; bullies don't respect anything but being hit back (metaphorically or otherwise).
I'm not a Ford fan but at least he's fantastic at reading a room and knows leaning into the anti-USA sentiment is a slam-dunk winner right now. I hope fElon's products get a Canada-wide ban. Or a 1,000,000% tariff, that'd also be peachy keen. This tariff whack-a-mole business is getting old.

I saw a TV news clip about how Canadians are boycotting US goods at a grocery store. A Canadian shopper said that he wasn't buying the citrus because it was "from the US -- especially Florida". I'm glad he is conscientiously targeting a red state.

Brit Box is an app. I have FibeTV (Bell Media) and right now there is a opportunity to see the different shows on Brit Box. Acorn is also a good app. I have both BritBox and Acorn, but they're through our Prime account, so I have to figure out how to get rid of that 'middleman' and keep the channels I like! We don't have a tv provider anymore, but moved to Shaw for our internet. I know it's probably easy peasy but I've spent 30 years actively avoiding knowing anything about the cable/satellite/internet provider stuff so that I wouldn't be roped into dealing with it all, and I'm cranky I have to learn now I do use the CBC Gem app and Kanopy through the library, so maybe I'm not a total write off, tech-wise?! (unless you ask my kids! ) I pay for BritBox and Acorn directly from their websites. I pay annually to get a cheaper deal. My husband watches a lot of British shows and I'm watching Classic Doctor Who on BritBox. I use a FireTV Cube for my steaming apps. I don't have to be subscribed to Prime to use the cube and can download any of my apps. You just sign into your account you made on the apps websites. We don't have a current tv so it was the easiest and cheapest way to stream by buying the cube a few years ago instead of buying a new tv which we didn't need.
