It’s horrifying. The article isn’t accessible to me though without a subscription.

It's odd. I can't access it through your link but I was able to simply Google it and read it. That's the link I copied and posted and it takes me to the article but it's still pops up the email box wanting you to subscribe but if I hit back it goes away and I'm able to read the article? 🤷🏼♀️

I am able to access the gift article now- thank you. That list is so long. It is hard to wrap my mind around, honestly, that any part of that feels ok to anyone.

For a minute I thought that it might be “their,” “they’re,” and “there.” But seriously, to be so afraid of words that you ban them on govt. websites; well, it says a lot about 47 and his administration.

Do you believe everything you read? Project 2025 explicitly calls for this. It's what you voted for. Why wouldn't it be true?

How are science researchers going to get a grant for breast cancer for women? I suggest putting in a grant for melanoma for old white men golfers. No seriously, it has a better chance of getting funding if written this way. Our drug does destroy melanoma cancer and tnbc and ovarian cancer.

Do you believe everything you read? Think for a moment that it is true - are you okay with it? Are you okay with some words being removed, but not others? Which ones do you agree have no place in governmental bodies and communications?

Do you believe everything you read? Still think this is not really happening or "fake news"? It's not a coincidence that these words are disappearing from multiple departments, websites etc. The administration in actively trying to silence the voices of the media and critics. There are plenty of examples of this administration trying to whitewash history, censor books and remove words. Even in his first term, Trump removed words he didn't like. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/03/14/us/trump-government-shutdown-news#arlington-cemetery-website-deiMaterials on the Arlington National Cemetery website highlighting the graves of Black and female service members have vanished as the Trump administration purges government websites of references to diversity and inclusion.
Among the obscured pages are cemetery guides focused on Black soldiers, women’s military service and Civil War veterans. Some of the materials were still online Friday, but they were no longer easily accessible through the cemetery’s website.
A part of the site devoted to segregation and civil rights was largely scrubbed. That section once included a walking tour focused on Black soldiers and a lesson plan on reconstruction.
Kevin M. Levin, a Civil War historian in Boston who helped identify the website changes, said they would deprive educators of valuable tools for connecting students with history.
“This is an incredibly rich historical landscape,” he said of the cemetery. “And to see any of its history either distorted or erased entirely — as an educator, and as a historian — it’s incredibly troubling.”

the government is scrubbing the words diversity, equity and inclusion from websites after Trump declared DEI programs, quote, "immoral and illegal."

Good lord. I signed up for a subscription to The New York Times to read this. I'm terrified. I freaking LOVE the New York Times. Their journalism is beyond incredible. That said, I don't have a subscription right now. In your opinion, was this article worth the cost? (Full disclosure: I used to freelance for the NYTCo.)

The NYT does an excellent job with investigative journaling. However, I think they did a terrible job covering the 2024 election. They made a big deal about every mistake Biden made but normalized Trump's errors, slurred speech, made up words etc.

In trying to appear balanced, they’ve contributed a lot to the sanewashing of the Trump admin and it’s not a good thing.

So far, I kept my subscription, but I'm really tempted to drop it. I'm not happy with them, but if they go under, what papers will be left? It's a conundrum but I ditched my NYT and Washington Posts subscriptions. The NYT headline writing alone has been disqualifying, and the Post under Bezos has tanked the reputation of the paper. Personally, I spent the money I previously spent on those subscriptions and donate instead to ProPublica, The Guardian, The Texas Observor and a couple independent journalists. Journalism is so important but those papers, NYT and The Post, are part of why we are where we are.
