cadoodlebug , did your DH's accident happen on the road or in a parking lot? It was in the parking lot as he was driving the cart from his car to the cart barn. There was a blind corner where the car came out. The teen and his dad are getting to look at the cameras to see if it shows anything. If it proves that DH is at fault, he wants to pay them directly instead of through insurance since our deductible is so high. If it doesn't show anything definitive, he will be willing to split the repair cost. The dent was so small that I told DH I would want pictures of the before (with the dent) and after it is fixed. With a teen, the parents could decide not to get it repaired and pocket the money. They’d be totally within their rights to pocket the money and not repair the car. That’s a different matter from whether your DH is at fault or not, but it sure sounds like the bratty teenager’s fault, not his. But when it IS your fault, you don’t get any say in what the other person does with the money you pay him/her.

She was coming out of the car wash and a car came flying down from the connecting parking lot above, in the wrong lane and hit her. There was a camera but the gas station/car wash wouldn't share unless there was a police investigation. Their landscaping was part of the problem and created a blind spot for both drivers. Insurance said 50/50 because normal rules of the road (like the other driver driving on the wrong side) didn't apply in a parking lot.
