Absolute unnecessary snark here, but in the promo picture I saw, Kristen is wearing yet another "bra" looking top with an open shirt over it. She seems to do that a LOT. Granted, she looks amazing, but it seems an odd look to utilize regularly.

Lots of actresses wearing the same thing.

What did you think?
Not surprised by who went home. What a hot mess of a dish that was.
I like seeing completely new food being created. It is fun to learn about new food trends.

My favorite show!!! I thought it was a good episode. I liked them using the native to the area foods. Sounds like that young male chef, with the dimples might be the one to beat so far. And who the hell makes carrot risotto the 1st challenge!! WTH

I loved seeing Nicole Gomez as a celebrity chef! She represented the West Coast even though she is from Calgary ... I thought all of the food, except for the one that got sent home, looked so good! Love that it's in Canada but wish it wasn't so Toronto-centric ... oh, well! I know they move around later!

I love Top Chef and can't wait to see where this season takes us! I laughed when the cocky chef, Massimo (from Montreal) landed in the "least favorite" dish group.

She represented the West Coast even though she is from Calgary ... Technically it was West region, not West Coast IIRC. As a born and bred BCer, I would have put AB in the Prairie group, but our AB family identifies as West over Prairie. The protein choices for the region were definitely more representative of the coast. I'm so happy it is back, although found this episode a bit chaotic to track who was doing what. My first impressions: - Vinny doesn't play well with others but sure can cook
- Carrot risotto and the dude on the team were so disrespectful to Anya in the quickfire
- Very happy Anya was the winner for their elimination round group
- Massimo is loud
- really enjoyed seeing the Canadian chefs
- liked that they just discussed 2 for elimination
FWIW, I LOVE risotto but would only consider making it if I had arborio rice and it was a RICE challenge! It takes time and is just so deliciously wonderful when done right, but it does not belong on a plate where something else is supposed to be the star. Put your time and effort in those ingredients!

It is also currently a style. Lots of actresses wearing the same thing. Which explains why I have no clue. Again, she looks fabulous, it's just nothing I have seen. Granted, I mostly hang out around athletic teens (so not super fashion conscious except in that manner) and homeless people. So...

I think there is something off about carrot risotto person. I thought she/he/they got a lot of air time over others, but could be my misinterpretation. I think it will be a good group. What is up with Gail S. showing off boobs?

What is up with Gail S. showing off boobs? I think editing gives a bit more air time to those that are either high drama or out early, so kind of expect her to be gone soon. I hadn't really noticed Gail's boobs but think the fashion game of Tom and Gail has been upped with Kristen hosting. Padma was always elegant, but I don't remember the other two as much.

Padma and Gail were totally out-boobing it and now it's just Gail. I don't care for a boob show on a food show, but of course it could get extra ratiings. And what is Tom's fashion? Showing something?

I loved the quickfire challenge. I would have loved to be a judge for that one.
I was surprised by the team that won the elimination challenge when you look at overall how they judged the dishes.
I was very happy to see who got sent home.

DH was half watching with me and thinking the quickfire was the elimination, said he couldn't believe 3 chefs in a row made poutine. They all made poutine, honey, that was the challenge! I was disappointed no one made Greek or Carne Asada fries, which are basically versions of poutine. I did enjoy Vinny getting called out being the one to make souffles, but had no doubt he could do it. Also loved when the judges asked what was in Bailey's tart and all exclaimed "honey!?". No wonder it lacked maple flavor. Very surprised that loud Massimo is a yogi. I think either team could have won this challenge and Corwin was lucky to be on the winning team. I died a little for him when they served Boulud the undercooked dish. Also hated the sabotage twist.

I was sad the Russian lady went home, she was doing some different things. I knew she was doomed as soon as she was talking about the texture of the cake, then hardness of the ice cream, then hardness of the cake.

It seemed like she was way too focussed on trying to force her unique ingredients into the challenge, rather than the challenge ingredient. This week fell flat for me all around.

I love Michael Cera.

I am very annoyed by the young Asian chef (I can't remember her name!) who is supposed to be cheering everyone from the sidelines.

Is anyone watching Last Chance Kitchen. I watched the episode where Anya competed. What the heck? Was kind of stunned the Canadian challenger walked away? So weird and can't believe it was a surprise.
Hated that Bailey won that round. I do not want to see her back.
