Good morning! It's April! I know I say it every month but honestly where does the time go? 2025 I felt like January lasted 4000 years and then February and March just zipped right on by. I've been dealing with a bit of depression. For the past couple of months. Every so often my head will clear and I'll have a good day and then I'll be dragged right back into it again. It's been tough on my crafting mojo. Depression seems to be most compatible with crochet for me. And after putting my Canalboat blanket down for a while I've picked it back up and and making progress again. I am way behind on my mystery quilt. I'm still cutting. Saturday they released the second clue and I still have not been able to sew. I went to the quilt store on Saturday to pick up my clues. I said I was not going to shop. Jeremy was incredulous when I said that. And then of course I saw the new Tim Holtz line of fabrics and I was like, I've got to have that. I think it was a bit of scrapbook nostalgia that got me there too. I'll post a pic. What's on everyone else's agenda for April?

Oooh - love all the pretty fabrics!
And now I'm really mad - I saw a tiktok (or maybe just a fb post) about a cool quilt place that immediately made me think of you all here (some kind of ongoing "look what you can do with these blocks" type thing. A new/different block plus all you can do with the technique. But do you think I saved it? UGH
I'm making great progress with my Whatcha - I'm midway through repeat #5, with only 6 repeats to do, then the border. LOVE it so far!!

Happy April jeremysgirl and all. I’m sorry you’ve been bad jeremysgirl. We are moving into spring here and the blue sky and warm sun is just glorious. I hope you will have something similar to lift you a little. Are those red fabrics the Tim Holtz? They remind me of Graphic 45’s Curiouser and Curiouser range which I love - and own and will eventually do something with it. My crafting was pretty much non-existent in March. I’ve been so tired in the evenings I just couldn’t be bothered doing anything. I’m still plodding on with this blanket which doesn’t need any thinking. I’ve probably done about 4 rows in March. It’s pretty much straight irl. 😀

gillyp all 13 of the fabrics shown in the OP are Tim Holtz. Your blanket looks nice. It's good to have at least one mindless project going on.

I've done zero crafting, I have one shorty sock finished and I've attempted 3 times to start the second one with no success. I think I'm just too tired atm. I've been tackling the gardens of our new house, they haven't been touched for years so you can imagine how much work they need. I've completely cleared the front garden and I'm working on the wall now, its covered in layers of paint which all needs to come off before I can do anything else with it. I'm planning some woodworking projects with my friend so maybe they can count as my crafting (once I overcome my fear of power tools!)?

Absolutely they are crafts lainey! I've been seeing fab gazebos, summer houses and the like built from pallets. If it wasn't so windy here I'd love to have a go.

I took a little break from my Canalboat blanket in March, but I’ve picked it up again and am determined to finish. Just getting to the end of the 4th set of stripes. Those of us using the merino yarn do 5 sets of stripes and then the border, so I can see some light at the end of the tunnel. Now that baseball is back on, I should make faster progress.

Merge your Canalboat blanket is coming along so nicely. Seriously I don't know if it's that particular fiber or what but your colors look so rich.

Merge your Canalboat blanket is coming along so nicely. Seriously I don't know if it's that particular fiber or what but your colors look so rich. I haven't used the acrylic she uses so I can't say, but I have to say this merino is some of the nicest yarn I have ever worked with. Worth every penny! My girls are already fighting over who gets this blanket when I shuffle off. LOL.
BTW, when did we stop calling them afghans? My mom used to crochet afghans, but now all the patterns are for blankets. Is afghan not an OK term to use or did it just fall out of favor?

i was trying to upload a photo but it says we are full help? You have to either post photos via the Tapatalk app, or use a website like Post Images.com. I prefer the second method, which allows me to choose the size of the photo and is quick and easy.

If you need inspiration, Richelle Christensen on Insta does really fun things like this patchwork heart quilt. I’m still plodding on with this blanket which doesn’t need any thinking. Beautiful! I took a little break from my Canalboat blanket in March, but I’ve picked it up again and am determined to finish. Love these bright, happy colors! i don't know what i will do with the finished products but i enjoyed learning new stitches. What a fun way to play with stitches and patterns.

Yes, we got the keys sometime in January, it took a few weeks to find contractors and agree on the work that needed doing. We ripped off skirting boards, doorframes, pulled the walls back to the studs, took up laminate flooring and old carpets ourselves to save some money. It's pretty much a building site downstairs but the upstairs is being put back together slowly. It'll be a while before it's ready to move into.

I've been fighting off some blah feelings the last couple of months too. We've had a lot of rain, some sick animals, and just a lot of monotony. Now that April is here and there's some sunshine and warmer weather I am noticing that I have more energy. So, I decided to tackle a new craft I've wanted to try for a while and I made my first two batches of soap.
I did a bar soap and a liquid. The bar soap seems to have come out well but it has to cure for a couple more weeks before I can use it. The liquid soap did not act like the recipe says it should have so I'm not sure about it. I am trying to save it but it may end up in the trash and I'll start over. I think I mismeasured an ingredient. I'm having fun making up labels for them now. I might take them to my town's spring craft fair next month. My family grows olives and we sell olive oil so I have used olive oil for the soap. The labels tie the products together and I just love the idea of it.

Selling at the craft fair sounds fun plus learning a new skill. It’s also nice that it’s an offshoot from your olive oil business. I hope you figure out the liquid soap and that you do well at the craft fair.

chaosisapony I'm sorry you've been fighting off some blahs. This dreary time of year doesn't help here in Michigan either. I was fighting through it so badly yesterday I didn't even respond on this thread and I wanted to say that your soaps with olive oil sound so moisturizing. A friend gifted me and olive oil (and orange scent) soap once and it made my skin so soft. Once everything is ready to go, I'd love to see pics. Or maybe even from your craft booth. Yesterday I pushed through. I got my pieces cut. I couldn't believe I actually did it. I really did want to put it off. Today I'm thinking I hope to be able to sew. Here's my quilt pieces.

It's the initial cutting but I assume there will be more pieces to cut as we go because I still have leftover fabric. I mapped all of clue 1 out this morning. I'm just having a second pot of coffee and then I'll eat breakfast and get my sewing machine out.
