Happy Friday Eve!

Of course, I woke up today thinking it was Friday so that was a bummer.

Nothing exciting going on with me which is actually very nice. My dad and my sister are out of quarantine today but still have to mask up for 5 days.

I ordered in Indian last night and for the second time, I didn't really like it. It's been my favorite food but the Mounjaro really seems to be affecting my taste buds. I was going to have the rest for lunch but it doesn't really sound good. It's very strange.

Tonight I'm making chicken tetrazzini with some leftover chicken that I froze. So far, it sounds good to me but who knows how it will taste when the time comes.

Dad and sister are both doing well and they got together for dinner last night. They are masking for 5 days but will start to see other people. 

Yeah, the taste thing is weird and some of my favorite foods just don't taste good to me now. In one way, it's good because food just isn't that important but it's always kind of weird when it happens. I guess the medicine works on the brain and blood sugar. 

Well, the car is loaded up with all my *stuff*. Sadly, when I tested a little while ago it was positive for Covid. I am so bummed! DH will be surprised when he gets home from golf and sees my car in the garage.

Thank goodness I canceled on the Hand and Foot game yesterday as one of the gals had lymphoma and is still being cautious. Off to cancel my room reservation. They'll ding me for one night.

Dinner will be the gumbo I was taking to the crop.

OH Nuts! I'm so sorry about this. Overall, how are you feeling? Is it confined to the sore throat?

Oh no! It does seem to be going around again. I hope it's a mild case for you. My dad didn't even know he had it until he tested positive at the hospital. 

I really thought it was one of those sore throats I get because of allergies. Good thing I kept testing after the 2 negatives!

My plans for today were changed yesterday evening. We were meant to have a meeting for afterschool care - all carers and the parent committee that is in charge - but I found out around 4pm it was cancelled. So instead, I decided to head into the city as it was such a lovely day when I woke up. I picked up some draft things I need for our Easter vacation program, some chicken and fish from the food market, then had lunch at a favourite Thai place that has outdoor seating, which was lovely.
Dinner tonight is grilled chicken, asparagus - I have some green and d add one white, so I’ll mix them - and potatoes. Nice and simple but delicious.

cadoodlebug - bummer about missing your crop. I hope your Covid doesn’t turn out too bad otherwise.
Tearisci - the taste thing is weird. I haven’t really noticed it since I started on Mounjaro, just the not needing to eat. My DS had really bad nausea for the first month, so it seems like it hits people differently.

I probably have that exact one and color. I just know it is a Lodge and it a very pretty blue. I kept it in a cabinet and kept forgetting about it. I had been asking for a straight edge large pan to cook some of Nisha's yummy stuff. I only had saute pans and they really weren't that big. My mom gave me one for Christmas and it is so big, it doesn't sit well on the stove top and doesn't seem to heat correctly. In my cabinet switchover, it came into sight again. So I have been using it in the last couple of weeks and I am a very happy camper. Just click buy. Oh and none of my stuff matches. I have a white 7 qt dutch over, a forest green 4 qt dutch oven, the blue brazier. It doesn't bother my brain. It does bother my DD's brain. She is making sure all her things are the correct blue. LC mermaid or lagoon. She knows, I don't and have to ask every time I find a casserole or ramekin at Home Goods.

Oh, that's too bad. I love the spices used in Indian food. I have not had a real love of cumin for years with my Mexican. With the combo of other things in Indian, I am really liking it more.

Maybe you could still go. Depending on your symptoms, you could mask up and somewhat isolate yourself away from the group. My minister of music's wife was the infectious person on record to go to during Covid and she keeps with present protocol. I think what I posted is the most recent. Oh and I saw the meme this week on FB and immediately was able to word it out.

Welp, I got bad news this morning from my Doctor's visit. In October of 2024, after following a very heavy plant based diet and being on cholesterol meds, my total number was 183. They told me to stop taking the med and continue on. From the wedding month in December to present, I have really sort of thrown any way of eating out the window. Just eating what I craved and wanted. I knew my hands and body were hurting more. My DD had thrown out "looks like more plants coming your way". I told the nurse that called today when asked if I needed the meds called in, to hold off. I didn't want to take a "magic" pill when I know I can do better. I just have to get my mind back in the game. So back in the game we go. Should help with my grocery bill, eating out and the scales. My number this week jumped to 259! 

We are also in weather central. Last night was 1 round of tornado sirens, 3 strong lines of thunderstorms and just lots of rain. I checked my rain total about 30 minutes ago and it was 2.93" and it didn't start raining until around 7:30 last night. We are in an expected range of 8-10 inches total and under flood warnings. Fun times, I tell ya.

The pup did seem better this morning. Meaning no accidents during the night. His chicken/veggie topper has been made and he ate it up last night. We will see what greets me when I head home for lunch.

No, not really me either. I have a riot of Fiesta all over my kitchen. I just really love that lagoon color.



I'm sorry to hear this. Don't be so hard on yourself. It's a total mindset issue for many of us and truthfully, you've been through a lot lately. Grace. I'll sit on this bench with you, though. I have managed to gain 9 lbs in the past 3 months. Depression will do that to you. I need to go for bloodwork but I'm truthfully putting it off because I know it's not going to be good and I need to do better, make better choices. However, it is clear to me that eating totally plant based is probably not in the cards for me because of my husband. And yeah, I know he can fend for himself, but this is part of our rythym and routine. I like cooking and I need to ensure that I am meeting his needs too. He ate terribly the whole time I was eating plant based. Now we have settled into a routine of about 3 PB/4 Omnivore meals a week.

The weather did a huge turn around from yesterday. The sun is shining and it’s 18 degrees C. There is so much water everywhere, it’s going to take some rain free days to dry up. Walker slept under the bed all night until 6 am this morning. He normally sleeps on the couch. He’s quite happy to be outside today without all the rumbling that frightens him.

I finished YDS’s income tax today and he will be happy to learn that he gets a refund. Apparently his fridge is on the fritz and is coming over after work to grab our small fridge that DH uses in the garage.

I need to grab a small snack and get outside for a walk.
Supper will be take out panzerotti.

Thanks everyone, I've been watching the finale of Deal or No Deal Island which wasn't as nerve wracking as it would have been if DH hadn't spoiled me! And he doesn't even watch the show, just saw it when he was flipping channels that night and assumed I had watched it.

When he gets home from golf he gets to carry everything upstairs from my car. I feel badly that I had promised 3 people gumbo for lunch today, my favorite strawberry salad as one of the dinner options for Saturday night and my pralines for snacks during the weekend. I had signed up for paper towels, boxes of gallon sized zip locked baggies and paper napkins but had the sense to drop those items off at someone's house yesterday *just in case*. This is the 39th crop and only the 2nd one I've missed.

As someone who depends on other people to stay isolated when they are infectious, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm so sorry you are having to miss the crop.

I was going to post a very long whine, but will give you the short version. Thought my prescriptions issues were resolved and the special pharmacy my insurance sent me to was processing the Rx. They called me with the copay amount and set delivery for tomorrow. Woohoo! Messages from both them and a different specialty pharmacy waiting after yoga. The other pharmacy had already processed the claim with insurance.   Did I mention the monthly copay is $1700? I have no idea what will happen next month. 

I thought I'd done all my running around and just remembered getting a pedi is on my list before I head into isolation again, so I'm heading out for that now and have no idea what will be for dinner.
