Hi everyone! I had a friend over last night and made another round of jarred sauce Butter Chicken! So yummy! I don't have a lot planned today ... I will deposit a cheque at the bank and, if the line isn't insane, I'll wash the Jeep ... I have been giving out little yellow ducks to any Jeep Wrangler/Rubicon/Willys etc. I see in parking lots! So fun! I've almost run out so I ordered more from Amazon and they will be here today! This is what I posted on FB today ... I'm total 80's girl but instead of having the BIG hair I had short hair and a "tail"! Which one of these styles best represented you? Oh, and I fly my "Cougar" flag high! If I'm home alone tonight, dinner will be rechauffe Butter Chicken ... if I go out then who knows! How are you feeling scrapmaven, cadoodlebug and naby64? How is your Dad Tearisci? Are you having a good mental day today jeremysgirl and quiltz? I know that I have missed someone ... sorry! What are your plans today? What is on your menu? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Good evening all It has been another beautiful day here - sunny and warm; we hit 18C which is amazing for early April. As usual, we were out fairly early to do our grocery shopping. Not a big shop this week as we will be out for both lunch and dinner tomorrow, then DH flies to Barcelona Monday morning until Wednesday. After lunch I took advantage of the e lovely weather and went to walk in the woods. Since then, I’ve been knitting on the vest I started yesterday. I’m about 25 rows in now and I’m really liking how it’s looking. The designer and her construction are new to me, so the next section will be a bit of a challenge.
Dinner tonight is steak, which DH will grill. He will add vegetables - so far all I know is that eggplant will be there, as we discovered two on the fridge when we did the stocktake before heading out to shop.
I hope everyone has a great day.

I did not have big hair. I also pretty much hated 80s fashion and music too. I listened to mostly alternative back then. I'm trying to get in the shower. Push me please. My goal for today is to cut my fabric. I will also make beef bourguingnon for dinner. But other than those two things which right now feel huge to me I don't have any plans. My damn cat ate some of my tomato seedlings. 🙄 I love that cat but she's kind of a b#$&@. She has several behaviors that are questionable. Like she always waits to use the litter box until after I've cleaned it. I am much less emotional than I have been the past few days which is good. I feel more stable. How you feeling cadoodlebug?

My mom and I along with my brother and sister-in-law are headed to my other brother’s home today. His son is headed out on a deployment with the army National Guard. He is a captain or major, I cannot remember which and is in charge of a whole unit. I don’t really want to say where he is headed, but he’s going to be gone for nine months. He has two children under the age of three and this is going to be really hard on his wife and kids. it’s one of the reason why they built a home here in Western New York, instead of where they were living in Alexandria, Virginia
So there’s a surprise birthday/deployment party for him today. he will not be on the front line of where he’s going, because he is in cyber security, but it’s still scary.

And it’s another day of rain… not much else to say about that.
I’m still binge watching Heartland. I’m on Season 17 and last night the family dog, Remi, died. I loved that dog because he looked so much like Walker, long haired and part Shepherd. Geez, I was a mess.
DH is making crock pot chili for his supper. I don’t like chili so I will have pulled pork and perogies. I will cook the perogies in the deep fryer which will be a first.
Off to do some laundry in order to be productive before I sit down to read. Thinking of everyone who needs positive thoughts today.

christine58 are you close enough to them geographically to help her and the kids while he's gone? I hope so. It seems like from your posts your family is close knit and jumps in when there's a need. It's going to be so hard on his wife with the two little ones.

It's going to be so hard on his wife with the two little ones. Yes. They are actually five minutes from my brother and about 45 from us. Her mom is also there, but we will absolutely help out however we can. Being retired helps that I can go whenever needed. We’re crossing our fingers that he’s gonna be able to FaceTime because his daughter is going to be absolutely devastated. She’s used to him being gone 4 to 6 weeks at a time, but this is a really long time

christine58, my prayers are w/your nephew and his company. You have a very courageous and good nephew. Thank him for me. jeremysgirl, go take your shower and then start quiliting. Act "as-if" and maybe you'll be mid-quilt before you know it. Sometimes we have to push ourselves just a bit. Just a nudge. You can do this. leannec, thank you for asking about me. I'm much better. I just practiced my latest piece and didn't break any windows. That's a win. As for 80's I was into showtunes, opera and classical music, but when I was w/dh I did like alternative rock. My hair was usually in a bob and one time my stylist went to a hair show and cut one side short and the other was bob length. It was trendy and stupid. I was not into the Madonna look. My outfits were business suits which I thought was boring. I like bright colors and fun accessories and didn't wear them in the 80's. Dh and I are trying to plan a cruise for a big annivesary. We have the opportunity to go on a very high end cruise. It's so tempting. The only thing I know is that this time I will participate in the talent show. Warn the passengers. leannec, how are you feeling? How's your foot? cadoodlebug, how are you today? I'm thinking of you. Tearisci, did your dad pass the stone, yet? leannec, it's hard to picture you as a cougar, but I laughed when I read it. quiltz, my heart is w/you. ((((HUGS)))). Now I have to get my tuchus up and go to the store. Dinner is chicken picatta, rice pilaf and green beans. Enjoy a restorative, fun Saturday, my lovelies.

Sitting here and listening to it storm. We were supposed to have bad weather yesterday and got lucky. Just awful awful mugginess. I have already swept and steam cleaned the floors. That may be it. I might go in the office and box up books I have no desire to keep or read. Start moving some of my collections in there. Or I could end up on the couch all day.
I'm feeling a bit better today. I made up a batch of hibiscus tea to drink all weekend. It's full of antioxidants and all those good things.
At the moment, I've got one of my cookbooks in my lap and going through trying to find recipes for ingredients I already have. I'm also watching a series of "use up all the food in the pantry" videos on Tiktok. Making a menu and very small grocery list for next week.
I might get a wild hair and hang up some plates I grabbed from my mom. Those delft type but these are in a green. Should work nicely in my den. There is also a picture that has never been centered over the couch due to other things hanging next to it. Well, those things are not there and I have some wireless sconces sooo....maybe, I'll take care of that. Again, read my first paragraph.
When I finally move and grab my tablet, I'll see what everyone else is up to and converse.

leannec , scrapmaven jeremysgirl Thanks for asking how I'm doing! My throat feels better this morning and it's sunny so I went on a walk with DH. I'm sneezing up a storm and still have a cough. I'll test again tomorrow but I'm probably still positive. In the 80's I was an Asst VP in the Trust Department of a bank so no wild hair for me. Like scrapmaven , it was business suits and heels. I've always favored music from the 50's and 60's. I’m still binge watching Heartland. I’m on Season 17 We have only watched through season 15 as they haven't released any other seasons to us so please post spoilers in the spoiler box. Dinner tonight will be our favorite strawberry grilled chicken salad that I was supposed to take to the crop. Best dog leash ever:

I was in the woods or in a uniform during the 80's or over in Hong Kong. never big hair, never did anything with hair but wash and wear. got a haircut yesterday. another cool sunny day, so went out for 4 runs, 11,000 vertical feet and dh is taking me to the airport in about 15 min.
so I will be on airplane and in airports and I don't know if there will be anything for dinner. I have snacks. I arrive at 11 pm.. and will get shuttle to hotel, then pick up rental car in morning--waste most the day and then go to memorial gathering at dinner time. then back to hotel.
home on monday. take care you all!! feel better those who need it. prayers for your relative christine58.
I'll report back on monday.

What is the destination you are looking at scrapmaven? I did just shower. Finally. Thank you for the encouragement. I'm changing my dinner tonight. Jeremy wants pizza. Homemade pizza. I bought some spinach and artichoke pizza white pizza sauce at Williams and Sonoma yesterday. I'll be having mine with chicken and shallots and spinach maybe a tomato or two.

We are thinking about what to do for our big anniversary next year. We might go back to St Lucia, but are open to other suggestions. Our requirements are: tropical, smaller all-inclusive resort, and a full sized plane.
Dh and ds are going to an indoor golf range and then I will meet them for dinner. I will probably have chicken tenders and mashed potatoes. Other than a possible snack later, I wont eat again for over 36 hours, due to colonoscopy prep tomorrow and colonoscopy Monday. I have high hopes for this new prep I was prescribed. I'll update if I like it (nothing people on a dinner thread want to hear about more than colonoscopy talk! 😂)

Happy Saturday!
I sprung my mom from rehab today and took her to breakfast and got her started on her new hearing aids at Costco. First time she's been out in a month and she was so happy! I think this trip solidified for me that she is in the right place. Going out was a lot for her and I don't think she could run a household and take care of herself. She was very tired and was going to take a long nap when we got back.
Dad went back into the ER this morning and still hasn't passed his stone. He's feeling pretty good though so we're happy about that.
Not sure what dinner will be tonight. Might be going out.
Hope you all have a great day!

My vertigo which was gone for 2 weeks returned on thursday with vengeance....I was flat on my back in bed for the day. Yesterday was somewhat better. DH has been doing the epley maneuver once a day for me...seems to help somewhat.
I am cooking dinner tonight for the first time since wednesday, pork medallions, with orzo, spinach and mushrooms. An Ina Garten recipe...hoping it is good!!

littlemama , I would like to hear more about the prep. I wish you a normal, healthy scan and an easy prep. Bottoms Up!
St. Lucia is my favorite island in the Caribbean. It's so pretty and the people are so friendly. I hope you get to go.
karenlou , I'm really sorry that your vertigo is back. It's horrible. I truly hope that it resolves once and for all. ntsf , how nice that you got your mom out for some fun time. I hope you two will do this stuff more often, as you both can tolerate. May your dad pass his stone w/ease.
jeremysgirl , we're still debating. There are a couple of itineraries that I like, but I think we're leaning twd going back to Alaska, because I can't travel internationally. Otherwise I'd want to just travel and see the museums. Wtg, you. I hope that as I'm typing you're quilting.

he will not be on the front line of where he’s going, because he is in cyber security, but it’s still scary. It is a scary time for any deployment. It will provide him so much comfort to know extended family is there to support his wife and kids. Safe travels, ntsf. I did have permed hair through the first half of the 80s but never teased it for more volume. For me the music was an eclectic mix of Springsteen, Phil Collins, Huey Lewis, Hall & Oates, Little River Band, Elton John, ACDC, Aretha Franklin, Louis Armstrong, BB King and others that were played heavily at the student pub and in aerobics classes of the day. One of the companies DH consults for is having an event that includes the Kings/Oilers game this afternoon, so DS took my spot and they've headed up to LA. The owner of the company has a pretty unique last name and is Canadian, but they never really talked about their common background until a year or so ago. Turns out my dad(96) worked with his dad in the late 50s. It was pretty cool for dad to make the connection, reminisce and pass on a few stories. I'm puttering around, slowly putting the office back together and enjoying a quiet house. The guys will stop at our favorite Persian grocery store on their way home but I'm not sure I'll wait that late to eat because I don't think they'll be home before 7 and probably closed to 8. But I'm tempted as they have the best falafels and not much beats fresh sangak bread.

cadoodlebug: My apologies to you. I guess I assumed that I was late to the Heartland party and everyone had seen it but me. Oh, no worries, I didn't want it to look like a hand slap but if one of the major characters dies, I don't want to be spoiled. That happened with you-know-who and he didn't die for 5 more seasons but I kept waiting for it! So sad over that one! My vertigo which was gone for 2 weeks returned on thursday with vengeance....I was flat on my back in bed for the day. I am so, so sorry. Not fun at all!

I guess dinner is a repeat of lunch…pizza.
Today I redeemed my Christmas present from my kids. At my request, they gifted me time and we cleaned out the basement and storage area. Three car loads went into the dumpster, one car load went home with dd, several items got listed on Facebook marketplace for free and two have already been picked up and what remained got organized and put any in an orderly fashion. It looks so much better and I’m very pleased! I’m also very achy and tired!

karenlou I hate that your vertigo came back. christine58 DD’s friend left for deployment on Monday and the airlines lost his luggage. It’s been a whole ordeal for him. It’s so nice everyone can step in and help your family while he’s gone. Started the day at the fossil & gem show. Surprisingly it was mostly cash or checks for payment. I only had $20 cash. It was $15 to park & get in so I got some rocks 😂 Then dd2 called she was having some symptoms and her dh is still very sick. Her dr is closed on Saturday so he said go to the hospital for a check. A couple hours later we were home. All good. Still no baby. Since her dh is sick she’s decided to sleep here. Luke slept all night without waking and so did his mother for the first time in months. Making grilled cheese, tomato soup and veggies. Dd is watching Love on the Spectrum and now I’m hooked. It really makes me miss working as the school nurse. I love their joy & honesty.

Aww... karenlou I'm so sorry that your vertigo is back. I cannot imagine trying to function with it. scrapmaven Alaska sounds wonderful. And I have one more fabric to cut and I have my third load of laundry in the dryer. So I did kick myself in the pants. You guys I bought this sauce at Williams Sonoma yesterday so we made pizza tonight. I made mine with chicken, caramelized shallots, spinach and tomatoes and this sauce was terrible. I ate it because I wasn't about to waste it. But it totally has that over processed taste. I was so bummed. Because it was a phenomenal idea. Had imthe sauce been scratch it would have been wonderful. Don't waste your $16.95! 😳
