Good evening all,
Today has been another quiet day here. I headed out early to pick up prescription from yesterday. I had a FedEx delivery notice saying I’d get a delivery between 9:30 and 13:30, and I wanted to go to the pharmacy in the morning in case there was a problem that I needed to speak to my doctor about. As it happened - no problem at all. Obviously I am recorded somewhere in the system as actually being diabetic (which my insurance knows about as they pay for my management program) so I only had to pay €10. A bit of grocery shopping on the way home, and back in time for package delivery at just after 9:30! I don’t think I can ever remember getting a delivery so early in the stated window before. Since lunch I’ve been knitting and soon I’ll start on dinner. I’m making a ricotta and spinach pie, because DH will be late home but will need to eat, and the pie can be eaten warm or cold, or reheated. There will also be leftovers for weekend lunches.
We don’t have much planned for the weekend. I will try to watch at least a part of Pope Francis’ funeral tomorrow morning, there’ll be football in the afternoon, then Sunday - church and then DH is off again, this time to Copenhagen and Gothenburg.

Happy Friday! Happy birthday leannec! We're just waiting to see if mom will be released today. Her blood sugar and blood pressure were both pretty high this morning. They hadn't checked her blood sugar since 9pm for some reason and she was already high by then. I'm sure she's ready to get out of the hospital. My routine is in the morning. I usually get up between 6:30-7 and make a cup of coffee. I scan my FB memories and feed and then do the Wordle. I watch the first 15 minutes of the Today show to see what's going on in the world. My job is from 9-6 but I usually start working about 7:30 and sometimes have my work done by the time my day officially starts. Makes for some long days because I have to be online and available between 9-6. No idea what dinner will be tonight. I've got lots of TJs options in the freezer so I'll probably just check there. Hope you all have a good day!

Hi friends! Checking in early today as I am going out tonight with a former coworker, a friend from college, and a friend of my friend. We're getting Italian for dinner and then going to see Matilda in concert. Danny DeVito is hosting and we are all SO excited. We also got tickets for a post-show Q&A, so I'm hoping for a photo opportunity. I love Danny. I messaged my cardiologist about my primary care physician's concerns, and they didn't seem too worried, so PCP and I are thinking I should get a second opinion to be safe. Ah, the joys of being 35. DH and I don't really have a set schedule. We both work from home most days, but he goes in 2-3 days a week. It keeps him out of trouble. He also likes to run his mouth. Hahahah. Our only routine is that we have the same thing for dinner Monday-as long as it lasts because we're both far too lazy to make something new each night. Happy weekend to all and birthday to leannec!

Good morning! Happy birthday leannec!! Yep, no word yet from the dealership. I am guessing I probably won't get it back this weekend. If that is the case, I'll just be home trying to figure out what to start on first. I have towels in the washer and I'll move those over once I get home. I try and do my sheets on the weekend but why not a day early? And I noticed yesterday walking in to the house, that it smells...musty. I know DH would open the windows a lot and air it out. I don't really like to leave windows open during the day when I am not home. I have candles, Febreeze, air fresheners, etc. Even when used, there is just something still there. Give me some ideas, please. I will, most likely, steam clean the bedroom carpet at some point this weekend. But what else to keep the house smelling fresh? Routine, hmmmm, other than the day to day, not really. I get up, go to work, home at lunch to let the dogs out, back to work. Home, cook dinner, clean up, feed the dogs, plop on a chair or the couch and watch TV, play my Switch or read. Dinner, I just don't know. Maybe tacos. I think I have all the makings for that. AT the moment, I am just not feeling like eating. I talked about eating that burger and fries last night. It was the only thing I ate yesterday. All evening, there were bathroom visits. Still a rumbly tumbly this morning. So I am just a bit apprehensive of putting much of anything in there. I would love to figure out a good mac and cheese without the cheese. Does a number on me. And with already existing problems, do we really need more?

Happy birthday, leannec! I forgot to say the other day, how fun for sueg and quiltz to have a get-together. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. My routine is too boring to bother recounting. Basically, I'm always busy and never really get anything done. Dinner will likely be burgers or the nice bar & grill downtown, since we had Mexican last night.

Woohoo!! The car saga may be coming to an end. I just got a text that said they found a loose connection and it has now been secured and verified that it is blowing cold air. I can drive another hour and back to pick it up this afternoon. And it is near Sam's so I might do a drop in there to pick up canned tomatoes and parchment paper. Then possibly pick up sushi. Did y'all know that Sam's has sushi? Made fresh every day and it's not bad at all.

I think tonight will be pizza with enough leftover for tomorrow. (With cheese bread of course and prob a salad).
Today is the day I get to post my favorite movie line:
"Please describe your idea of the perfect date." "That's a tough one. I'd have to say April 25th because it's not too hot and not too cold. All you need is a light jacket."
Cracks me up every time.

do you have a routine in your life? Yes, I do. I get up at 5 and drink coffee. I look at what I missed on peas from the evening before. At 6, if I'm feeling it and the weather is decent, I'll go for a short walk with my dog. Then I'll come back and shower. If I'm not feeling the walk, I will log into work and go through my emails. After early emails, I break to shower. Then I work until 2:30-3:30 somewhere in there. When I get done working, I play. I crochet or sew or read. I go in the kitchen and make dinner around 6. We eat around 7 and then I usually read until I can't hold my eyes open any more. Which is normally around 8pm. Jeremy is ready for bed at that time so we go into the bedroom and talk and cuddle. And then he rolls over and I put on a podcast. Sleep by 9. Her blood sugar and blood pressure were both pretty high this morning. They hadn't checked her blood sugar since 9pm for some reason and she was already high by then. I'm sure she's ready to get out of the hospital. I hope they can get her under control so she can be discharged. I will, most likely, steam clean the bedroom carpet at some point this weekend. But what else to keep the house smelling fresh? I don't have any carpet and not many rugs either. But I generally have my windows open when I can. Even if it's too cold to have all the windows open, I will often crack my kitchen window when I'm cooking. Now it's spring and my windows are open a lot and my poor cat is really suffering. This seems to be the worst allergy season I've seen for her in the 8 years I've had her. I'm going to talk to the vet about it. I just got a text that said they found a loose connection and it has now been secured and verified that it is blowing cold air. I can drive another hour and back to pick it up this afternoon. And it is near Sam's so I might do a drop in there to pick up canned tomatoes and parchment paper. I really hope you get your car back soon. I was up very early this morning and I did not sleep well last night. It was just too hot. I was supposed to go to some Alice In Wonderland outdoor light show tonight with girlfriends. It's an hour and a half drive and I'd be making it alone as they don't live near me. (They all get to ride together). It's also supposed to rain. And I neither want to drive in the rain, nor be out in the rain for the light show. So I'm thinking I'm going to pass. I hate letting people down but I just can't get excited about it at this point. We will have rechauffe. I did not end up going to Mom's last night and so I made Jeremy a pasta dish with some leftover chicken we had, tomatoes, asparagus, corn, and spinach. He loved it so much. I was stunned actually because I haven't gotten that good a reception on a dinner in quite a while. Have a great birthday leannec!

Then we watch our favorite show, read for an hour before going to sleep. I think we’ve turned into my parents! yes and no - it's not a schedule per se but... I wake at 7 to wake up dd, get up again at 730 to make sure she's up and take my pill, up for the day at 8 (pill has a 30minute - don't eat or drink anything afterwards). Coffee and breakfast while leisurely checking email, FB, and here. Then get dressed, dishes, laundry, run the robot vac, tidy up, do whatever the daily chores are... I join most if not all of the daytime scrapbook crops - they are usually either 11-1 (and I'll eat lunch afterwards) followed by 3-6 OR they're 1-6 and I'll grab lunch before hand. More chores afterwards - if there isn't a crop, I usually use that time to read or do genealogy or an organising project. We eat dinner at 730ish occasionally 8 if DD is late home. I really need to get a reading and an exercise slot into the regular routine so it happens more, lol. Dinner tonight is chicken pot pies and sauteed zucchini and honeybell orange segments naby64 - yay for the car. Mustiness - I do try and open windows when weather permits. Here, running the a/c helps also because it lowers the humidity (which is good because windows open weather is NOT year-round here by a long shot). Happy Birthday leannecI hope your mum is doing better Tearisci

In the ongoing saga of will she be released today or not, my mom sometimes has this problem of trying to stay awake and is unable to be roused. She's on medication for it but it still happens sometimes. Well, it happened at the hospital and the neurologist is involved to make sure she's not having a stroke. I doubt she is because we're seen it before and it's never been a stroke.
I guess the good news is that it happened while she was in the hospital and not back at the nursing home where we'd probably end up taking her back to the ER. I'm glad that they are seeing it and can hopefully increase her meds or find a cause other than dementia.
I'm guessing she won't be released today.
Edited to add- my sister talked to her at 7:30 and she was fine.

I took my mom to her yearly eye doctor appointment this morning and they have a table of books to buy through donation. All the money goes to our Community Refrigerator to help feed those who need help. I had a blast digging through all the books while waiting for mom to get her eyes dilated. I ended up bringing home 5 books that I really didn’t need.
This afternoon I’m interviewing youth for scholarships. This is a Y annual event and when I was working, I was the chair of the event committee. I was asked to be a part of the committee for next years event but they also needed help with selecting winners for this year.
Being retired, I love not having a set routine every day. However, I do tend to do most of the household stuff like laundry, vacuuming, etc during the mornings. In the afternoon, I walk, read, walk the dog and DH and I play ping pong and darts usually every day.
I will be interviewing over the supper hour so will probably grab something on the way home. DH and Walker are planning to have Hamburger Helper.

So now it’s just nice to sleep in if the dog lets me and do whatever I need to do. But first on the agenda after I have my iced coffee is Alphaguess, Wordle, mini Crossword, connections, and then strands.

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! It really means a lot! So far today I have worked. My mum gave me cash for my birthday and I bought a big planter for my patio ... it's sitting in the back of the Jeep right now ... must bring it in and put it in place ... I have no skill when it comes to keeping plants alive so we'll see if I can keep a basket of flowers going this summer! My mum and my dd's are coming over for dinner tonight to celebrate ... we are ordering Chinese food ... mmmm, pork dumplings!

We're getting Italian for dinner and then going to see Matilda in concert. Danny DeVito is hosting and we are all SO excited. We also got tickets for a post-show Q&A, so I'm hoping for a photo opportunity. I love Danny. This sounds like so much fun! leannecMy schedule in life-before-treatment started with coffee & puzzles (Worldle, followed by NYT Wordle, Spelling Bee, Mini, Strands, Connections, then Alphaguess and Clickword). Then exercise (yoga and/or a walk), errands, lunch and the afternoon to do whatever I wanted (read, garden, craft). Make dinner and hang out with my peeps. No chemo this week, so looking forward to normal routine. Except probably no errands. Just found out my dad(96) is going to be a great-grandfather!! He has been complaining for years that his sister had 8 great-grandchildren before she died and he still has none. We joke that he can't die this year with 2 of his granddaughters getting married, but I know this is the event that he will actual want to be around for. I'm not sure want DH plans for dinner, but a quick cruise through the veggie bins has me planning to make a slaw to go with it.

Oh, my daily routine ... There is none. I have chronic insomnia and I teach sometimes and sometimes not. Some days are structured and others are sleep two hours, get up for two hours, sleep for two hours, repeat until the afternoon ... I usually work at least three days per week so I'm home by 4pm and eat dinner by 6pm ... sometimes my mum comes over ... On my free days I graze ... I spend way too much time on my laptop! Normal people couldn't get by with the amount of sleep I do!

Just the simple California Roll with crunchies on top and a spicy drizzle. Along with the items I meant to get, I grabbed a pre-made kale and sundried tomato salad and a package of baby broccoli. I didn't know they had that so was happy to snatch that up. Oh and some Millie's Sipping Broth.

Wishing leannec , a very Happy Birthday! May your year be filled w/great fun, special moments and if you wish, Mr. Right. Happy Birthday!!!!! cadoodlebug , thank you so much for hosting the thread so beauitfully this week. It was nice to be able to just focus on the present moment, which is something I am learning to do. I'm very grateful. We had such a good time away. We took a 4 hour photo class and tour and saw some gorgeous sites, like waterfalls and lots of snow. We came back this afternoon and I am so completely sleepy, but glad that I went. As for a routine, I get up make coffee, feed the kitties and then I post the thread, followed by Wordle, et al. Lunchtime in the warmer months is w/DH in the living room. At dinner we watch a show while dh has dinner and I eat my boring stuff. We're not super exciting people, but we manage to laugh quite a bit and we're learning to make the most of our days. I have a long way to go. Being retired is good stuff. I highly recommend it for anyone who is able to do so.
