do you think it will take no fresh crops on the shelves or abandoned construction projects or lack of meat before more americans rise up against this trump's govt?
I don't see how many jobs will get done in the atmosphere of fear. and the trauma we are imposing on the families.
and now the supreme court thinks its ok to drop off people in failing countries where torture is common. it all makes me sick.

Yes, right now, at lot of businesses that cater to the Hispanic population are hurting because their customers are staying away. This will eventually trickle down and hurt other businesses, like suppliers.

Our local news in Las Vegas reported a popular outdoor flea market will be temporarily closed. They’re concerned about ICE raids targeting vendors and perhaps attendees.
What a depressing state of affairs we’re in on so many fronts.

The ice cream cart just sitting there seemingly abandoned is so very sad for numerous reasons. ** A disappeared man **. Family waiting for him to come home **. ICE has destroyed what ever business he has that maybe the family could have used to earn some money. **. It will probably end up in the dump ALL hope gone. Is this really us? So sad!!

I don't see how many jobs will get done in the atmosphere of fear. and the trauma we are imposing on the families. i heard somewhere that 40% of produce shipped nationwide comes from California. lack of product and higher prices will be coming very soon if there is a worker shortage. do you hear that red states? California also provides 80 BILLION in taxes to the federal government. far more than we use in federal funds. lower spending means less tax collected and that means less money turned over to the federal government. for states like Arkansas and Alabama, who get more than they give, it's going to be tough times. if possible, i wish California would hold back that 80 billion and put it in a trust account until this ICE stuff gets resolved. hit the govt where it hurts.

It's all so heart-breaking. The US is in it's full villain era now. Immigrants give back way more than what they get. Working jobs that no American would take, paying taxes, the list goes on. But beside all of that, human lives should be valued and respected. Even if you think this doesn't impact you, you should still give a damn!

All of this is absolutely horrifying. What’s most disturbing is that these are, at their core, kidnappings. No one knows who these so-called “agents” are, or how to contact anyone in charge, not even local law enforcement. Then, that law enforcement is left to deal with the fallout, which is often, and understandably, tense and confrontational. Local governments are stuck footing the bill, whether it’s for property damage or simply the cost of cleaning up after one of these so-called “sweeps.”
The fact that anyone can’t, or won’t see the parallels to how Jews were rounded up in parts of Europe before and during World War II is beyond comprehension. The tactics are chillingly similar. There is no meaningful difference.

I’m absolutely disgusted about all of it. I also read in my local paper that the Marines are using “safety” as part of their recruiting pitch, especially to Latinos. How fucked up is that? Besides being blatantly FALSE!

heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/june-24-2025 It is a truism that, like other authoritarians, Trump tries only to appeal to his supporters, but I confess this video, from the president of the United States, left me aghast. It seems to me long past time to question the 79-year-old president’s mental health.
Tonight, Trump’s social media feed posted: “FAKE NEWS CNN, TOGETHER WITH THE FAILING NEW YORK TIMES, HAVE TEAMED UP IN AN ATTEMPT TO DEMEAN ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL MILITARY STRIKES IN HISTORY. THE NUCLEAR SITES IN IRAN ARE COMPLETELY DESTROYED! BOTH THE TIMES AND CNN ARE GETTING SLAMMED BY THE PUBLIC!”
Trump’s posts sound panicked, and even aside from the strikes against Iran, there is reason for his loyalists to be concerned about political events. On Saturday, masked agents from Customs and Border Patrol were caught on video chasing Narciso Barranco, a 48-year-old undocumented landscaper who has lived in the U.S. for decades, down a street with guns drawn, pinning him to the ground, and hitting him as they handcuffed him. Barranco’s oldest son, Alejandro, served in the Marines for four years and is a veteran. Barranco’s two younger sons are active-duty Marines. There has been a popular outcry over Barranco's arrest.
Barranco’s son Alejandro told Jacob Soboroff, Julia Ainsley, and Suzanne Gamboa of NBC News that his father is being held with at least 70 other people with one toilet and no privacy and that he has received very little water and even less food.
ICE's detentions continue to create a backlash. Isabela Dias of Mother Jones reported that the number of migrants detained in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities across the country has reached a record high of more than 56,000, leading to overcrowding and unsanitary conditions.
News broke today that White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, widely believed to be the individual responsible for the administration’s draconian immigration policies, owns between $100,000 and $250,000 worth of stock in Palantir, the data and intelligence software company owned by Peter Thiel. Palantir has a number of valuable contracts with ICE to track undocumented immigrants.
Ken Dilanian of NBC News reported today that concern about retaliation from Iranian sleeper cells has made the FBI return agents who had been pulled from their normal duties to focus on immigration issues back to their usual focus on counterterrorism, counterintelligence, and cybersecurity.
One source told Dilanian, “Guess they are realizing this whole national security thing is important, after all.”

The world is horrified by what is happening in the United States of America right now. International news sources are reporting awful stories of people being held in crowded conditions, not enough food and water, no privacy, no chance to call their loved ones. And being deported to a country that is not their own with nothing when they get there. A woman and her child were dumped in Mexico miles away from where their family is in Mexico. A woman delivered a still born baby in cells, agents refused to get her medical care, another woman had to make her baby formula with tap water. Diarrhea, vomiting and illness because of the conditions they are being held in. And MAGA defending this inhumane treatment because they are "illegals". No Due Process, no chance to prove they are not in the country illegally. It is not illegal to apply to immigrate to the U.S. It is not illegal to be in the U.S. while working through the process. There is a place in Hell for all of these horrible people. Keep protesting, Call out far-right dog-whistles. Contact your elected officials over and over again. And most of all find your joy. Don't let this break you. Americans are good people. They want you to be exhausted and afraid and to give up. The No Kings Day protest show that there are millions of people willing to fight and stand up for what is right.

do you hear that red states I can say I live in that red state. I did NOT vote for that man. My DH did and is recently deceased. My mother did and is elderly and in bad health. I am a vegetarian. I rely on and need that produce. My DH was in bad health, my mother is also. I am so angry at those 2 and just want to shake them. My mom already complains about this and that. I just look at her and tell her well this is what you voted for. It does not compute or get through. We had tornadoes rip through the NE part of the state, just miles from where my 2 oldest kids live. Our beloved guvnah couldn't get FEMA funds for 2 months. I do think she was being strung along and played and had to promise who knows what in allegiance to get it finally. I am just tired of it all.

I just keep having to believe something will happen to end this destruction.

A man died in ICE custody just recently. The family said he had no health issues, yet when they were able to visit him, he sat unresponsive and looked drugged. The agent even told them that he had just taken his medication which is why he seemed out of it. The family said he took no medication before being picked up by ICE. He later died in a transport van and the family did not know!! The Mexican Consulate told the family. This all so inhumane. They treat these people like animals. It is disgusting! www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jun/22/ice-detainee-death-georgia

And most of all find your joy. Don't let this break you. Americans are good people. They want you to be exhausted and afraid and to give up. yesterday i was talking to a man who has been here with no green card for 20 years. a company petitioned him to come to the US as a worker and the company later filed BK and went out of business. that ended this guy's hopes of getting his green card. since then he has been working and living quietly. he's paid his taxes and he's committed no crimes. he has no other family here. he is 71 years old. he was talking about the commercials he's been hearing about Self Deportation and registering with the government. to what end, i asked? what's in it for you if you leave or register? the commercials say you MIGHT be let back in but let's be serious, once the door is shut, you are on the other side. if you are scared then they have you where they want you. if you really believe that leaving is for your benefit and not theirs, then that's on you. don't get me wrong, i believe that deportations should exist but there should be a priority. what happened to snatching the violent criminals, gang members, etc??? how's about we clear the country of those people first and not the random street vendor trying to eek out a meager living or the single mother working low paying job just to make end meet. immigration is a complex issue but people are trying hard to make the right changes for immigration reform. time, protests, voting, and the economy being affect will get the voices heard.

In LA, there was a message put out to rival street gangs that they should ban together and help protect their community members. I don't know if it actual happened or not. And why isn't ICE going after these street gangs, instead of the man selling flowers on a street corner. I know many gang members are US citizens, but I am sure there are some undocumented members. Maybe they are afraid of the street gangs??

The same kind of rancid mind that would burn down the facility if it were a white person that died. It is absolutely disgusting and as you know racism is the driving factor. I am disgusted that there are so many people in power that are letting this happen. Honestly I wonder if even 25% of Republicans in office spoke up if that would be enough to turn the tide. Not that it is ever going to happen, but I just can't help but wonder. I remember the first time that the Orange Menace won that SNL had a skit about the imaginary Republican that spoke out against Trump and how there would be statues erected in their honor and all the accolades they would ultimately receive. They showed blank statues and things. Obviously that never happened, but it does seem unreal that there is no rock bottom for the Republicans. I mean they are all just functioning sociopaths at this point. It just doesn't make sense.

Family members cry as ICE detain their sister/daughter who is a US citizen. They have no idea where she is right now. Likely taken because she has brown skin and was collateral in an ice raid near her workplace. Eta I think this is the same person as above, sorry.

DHS says they arrested her for "assaulting a federal agent." No video provided, of course.
The new MO: show up in plain clothes and an unmarked vehicle, grab a woman from behind, fail to show a badge or ID, and when she attempts to fight you off, arrest her for assault.

Here, DHS/ICE sent dozens of armed agents, broke a window to gain entry, and sent in a drone and a flashbang grenade before entering the home to arrest one person, who was not accused of any violent crime. (Want to talk about waste, fraud, and abuse? How much money are we spending on these over-the-top arrest efforts where previously unemployed J6ers get to play out their militia fantasies on the taxpayer's dime?) ICE ended up arresting both their target (a man) and his wife, and hauled their teenage US citizen kids out of the apartment in zip ties. Then they took mom and dad and left the teens, 14 and 17, alone I guess?
