Good Morning.
How is everyone doing today?
I have an early video appt. Apart from that I don't have anything going on today. I'll knit and relax. Dinner w/be rechauffe air fryer panko chicken with a veggie and tater tots.
What are you up to today?
What's on your menu?
I'm continuing to keep baby Enzo in my deepest thoughts for healing.
teddyw, you mentioned your fun outing w/your grandchildren. Please remind us, how old is Luke? He' s the grown up in charge. His little sister is going to be doomed the first time she brings a date to the house. Big brother will be her protector.
naby64, you are wise to wait a year before making any major life changes. You've been through an ordeal and it takes time to grieve and regroup. You have tribe who will be with you as you figure out the future.
jeremysgirl, how are you doing today? I hope that your spirits are a brighter today.
May today bring some giggles, some good news and smiles.

Today is a little brighter but still cool for July ... It's loud outside because the landscapers are here ... I have no plans today ... as usual! Maybe I'll see if my teacher friend wants to come over this afternoon ... Dinner is definitely undecided! ![]()

I'm getting ready to go to AquaFit. It had been wonderfully cooler this week and will last until at least Friday. I will continue working in my craft room and will work on layouts for my scrapbooking retreat in September. Dinner will be Jalapeno Chicken Poppers as I ended up grilling steaks yesterday. This is for you AussieMeg :

Happy Wednesday!
I've got a fairly busy day at work and working on socials which I really like. I'm sourcing images for destination weddings so that's fun.
Mom is apparently very confused this morning and she was naked when my sister went to see her this morning so I'm not sure what's up with that. We haven't heard from the hospice aide to see if she went down there this morning. I'm going to go this afternoon after lunch and see how she is. I hate to be leaving for a week when she's like this. It puts a lot of extra burden on my sister. I do need the break though!
Dinner tonight will be something from my freezer from TJs. I have a lot to use up before I go on WW in August.
Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning! Today is going to be a busy day. Just a lot that needs to be done. And I can just feel my anxiety bubbling under the surface. I am listening to The Odyssey and trying to keep my focus on that and the computer screen in front of me. Not allowing my mind to wander to all the "what ifs" and "oh boys" of all that is swirling up here. I need to light my favorite smelling candle and let that work on me also. And I am not opposed to finding some sage and burning it. Would that be blasphemy in a church building? Choir starts back tonight after a month off. While I look forward to getting back and singing, getting the schedule back, I have really enjoyed my Wednesday nights off for the last 4 weeks. With all that in mind, dinner is unknown. I may just do something good at lunch and calling that for the day. I do have some yellow watermelon cubed up and can eat that after I get home this evening. scrapmaven , again, thank you for the words of wisdom.

how are you doing today? I hope that your spirits are a brighter today. I'm doing much better today. I think my problem is that I'm bored at work. I chose this so I have to deal with it. But I think my brain has been on vacay. I'm also in the office today and I hate to say that there's nothing worse than being in the office when you're bored. But...it was nice to get up, get dressed, and see humans. I even just got back from lunch with my friend Barb. It's so nice to have a lunch date while I'm downtown. I hate to be leaving for a week when she's like this. It puts a lot of extra burden on my sister. Try not to feel bad about this. Just think of things you can do when you get back to give your sis a break. You'll be refreshed. You need this time. What do you stuff them with? I ate avocado toast for dinner last night instead of cooking. LOL! Just did not feel like it. So tonight I will make the chickpea/eggplant/tomato/green bean/rice dinner. I do love me some eggplant. I made some zucchini bread with some from my neighbor's garden. I brought a loaf to work. It's half gone so I think somebodies liked it. I made two loaves and I'm hoping everyone eats this one so I don't have to take it home. After work I will crochet or read or some such relaxing thing.

Took my mom to get her shot in the eye this morning, then the drugstore, then the grocery store. Home now and discovered that we have no potatoes for supper, so back to the grocery store, I go.
It’s going to be a hot one today but we don’t have any outside chores to do, so the weather shouldn’t interrupt the day. If it cools down after supper, I will go for a walk with my bestie.
Supper will be hamburger missed with peas over mashed potatoes with a Barbeque ranch coleslaw.

Dangit, I really need to hang out in here. I always forget this isn't just a food thread. For the record, though, after days of intense, heavy meals like beef roast and fried chicken, we are just having either leftovers or hot dogs tonight. We are in the midst of a heat wave and no one wants to cook.
A family member died this week, and I'm debating going back to my hometown for the funeral this weekend. I really liked her and used to work with her during my banking days, so I should go, but having to see the rest of my family is putting me off. I may drag my husband, who hasn't set foot in my hometown in the better part of a decade.

Went for a 1.5 mile walk with the dog, and then a 4 mile walk with my Bestie....so I plan on doing some watering, reading and napping as I am working tonight. I'll eat the rechauffe potato leek soup from last night, DH wants spaghetti, so he will stop at our neighborhood Italian place on his way back from the dentist...makes my life easy!!

went for a swim this morning and planning to go to the gym later. dh is going for a hike with doggie. the weather is a bit cooler. prayers for baby enzo. hugs for all that need them. so a quiet day the rest of the day.

I’m on ice duty while DDs anesthesia wears off. She’s no weight bearing today too. The surgeon seemed great til the post-op instructions. Dd had a dvt after this exact procedure. He insisted your hematologist sign off on the surgery. It took months to get into hematology so this has been delayed. Then he says I don’t think you need to follow her instructions but go ahead if you want to. So annoying. She’s going to listen to hematology and take blood clot preventives for a month. Not sure about dinner yet. Her prescriptions were called into the pharmacy at the grocery. So I’ll pick something up. AussieMeg those tacos are intriguing to me. So is tge ranch bbq coleslaw taylortrooptmarschall I too love cake & mashed potatoes. I’d eat mashed potatoes daily if it was feasible. scrapmaven Luke is 3 turning 4 in October. Juliet is his cousin. Bennett is his baby brother. Our family had 5 new babies this year. 2 boys and 3 girls. My nephew’s wife mentioned yesterday we should have a graduation party for all of them.

Anita , I'm so sorry that you lost a loved one. If you go you don't have to engage w/anyone that you want to avoid. A simple, "hello" and then walk away will do. Be polite and only talk to the people that you like. teddyw , your dd is very fortunate that you're a nurse and can advise her. The surgeon should be a lot more cautious. i hope that your dd has an easy recovery and is comfortable. naby64 . I must now block you. You mentioned the O book. I had to read the Iliad and the Oddysey in college. I was warned not to take the class, because the professor was one step shy of the Sam Kinnison character from Back to School. Anyway, on my mid-term he wrote in pencil, "Miss Scrapmven, perhaps you should drop this course. F. I went to his office and asked why I didn't get an A since I clearly had studied. He told me that he failed me because I was offering my opinions on the books and he could care less what I think. He was the professor and it was important to him that I know what he thinks. I took his advice and dropped the class. What a schmuck. Just for that, I'm gonna make you watch this scene from Back to School. Psycho ProfessorI started a migraine and I am miserable. I don't want to tell dh, because he'll really worry and start talking about canceling vacation.

Sorry you've got a migraine. Take care of yourself!
I had an English professor at LSU that my sister had a few years before me. She warned me that he was horrible but the timing of the class fit my schedule. Dr. Blankenstein. I barely got a C but was happy to get that!

I love mashed potatoes.
Hot as hell here tomorrow. I’m trying to find my mom a place to stay in Florida for 2 to 2 1/2 months. I think she’s being gaslit by this person she’s been in contact with. He owns a restaurant in Detroit and for whatever reason he’s not getting back to her. It’s a perfect place so she’s gonna give them until Friday and then she’s gonna text him or email him again. His girlfriend actually is the one that’s been corresponding with my mother.
Not sure what’s for dinner I had a good size lunch. I’m not really hungry. Maybe I’ll just fix a small salad.

I think we can honor the person who has passed without attending a funeral. Sometimes funerals are really hard to attend for whatever reason. A friend I went to high school with and worked as a lifeguard for five Summers passed away a week ago from ALS. She had symptoms a year ago and wasn’t diagnosed until around Thanksgiving and went downhill very quickly. I’m not sure I can watch her son and grandsons mourn her along with her sisters and other friends. So I will do something to honor her on my own. Maybe it’s a donation to ALS foundation. I hate that disease.

christine58, I'm so very sorry about your friend. ALS is such a cruel disease ((((HUGS))). If you're mom is already having issues w/a potential landlord I'd run far. If this is how that person makes a first impression think about how hard it will be when she needs a repair or has an issue. I would encourage you to convince her to look elsewhere.

cadoodlebug that meme!! scrapmaven I hope the dreaded migraine doesn't stick around for too long. I'm so glad I didn't inherit them from my dad, they're just awful. We enjoyed them so much we rechauffed them for dinner last night (Wednesday). And I still have a little bit leftover for DS when he gets home from NZ tonight. christine58 I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. We call the disease MND here, and yes, ALS / MND is an absolute monster of a disease. I donate to the cause every year. A much loved ex football player and coach here has it, and every year in June they do a huge fundraiser. He was diagnosed with MND in 2013, so he's been living with it for 12 years. I know several people who have died from it, and most of them only lived for 2-3 years after diagnosis.

I, too was warned not to take this class. I should have listened. When I dropped the class it was a big I-told-you-so moment.

I’m away on a 2 night birthday get away planned by DSO to a small seaside village where we have been enjoying beautiful weather, lovely views, lounging around the pool and amazing food! The inn we are staying at has a long wait for reservations for its dinner service so DSO booked this in March. Tonight we had… A celery, crispy onion and black sesame seed amuse bouche with homemade bread and sea lettuce butter Me - goat cheese, bacon, balsamic reduction and arugula in pastry DSO - pork belly with an apple cilantro slaw with truffle drizzle Me - lobster on macaroni with bacon, arugula and a lobster reduction DSO - surf and turf (lobster and tenderloin) with garden veggies and Bernaise sauce Me - mango crème brulee with berries and whipped cream DSO raspberry limoncello inside down cake with sorbet It was highly recommended and lived up to the talk - wonderful experience! Hoping scrapmaven that your migraine resolves quickly and Tearisci that your mom has a better day tomorrow.
