woo-hoo!! for alissa103!! ...there's no picture in your post, but I'm imagining a big, empty closet with tons of space for holding everything you want to put in it, lol!! I need to tackle the closet in my room-- I am working on taking everything out of the original packaging, so that I am more apt to use it, and also taking out anything that I KNOW I won't use at the same time... you know, how there's always those one or two things in a package of embellishments that you really just can't figure out when you would ever actually use it?? They're going right into my trade/donate box, instead of taking up space in my supplies. I just had the zany idea that I think I'd like to keep my Cameo out on my second table (I have two non-matching tables pushed back to back as my work surface) so that it will be easier to use more often, instead of keeping it in a cabinet where it's been. But in order to do that, I would have to clean OFF said table, and put the stuff from the table... where?? Into the closet, I guess-- HA! So, closet cleaning and organizing is in order-- ick! I also would need to make a cover for my Cameo if I'm going to keep it out on the table, to keep cat hair and dust out of it. Isn't it amazing how having one little idea can turn into a huge list of things to do, just to accomplish that one tiny idea?!?

Oh shoot, not sure what happened to my pic. I will post before/after pics! I totally know what you mean about starting with one little idea and that turns into a total reorg. Hahaha! I hope you like your Silhouette out. I love having mine out and I find I do use it a lot more! So far the closet is coming along! I have put a ton of photos and memorabilia away already and I'm so glad to have those off my floor. I also got my wrapping and tissue papers put away (I had a wrapping paper holder installed) and I LOVE IT. Takes up so much less room than my Rubbermaid wrapping paper container. Yay!

I've been busy too, have gotten a bunch of stuff unpacked but it's a disaster down there. I still have a lot to do. I'm trying to get everything presorted first, then I'll have to go back to each pile of junk and sort it down more. I quickly realized there isn't enough room to sort everything by category the first time through. This is one side of my studio. Behind the pile of stuff on the right where you can see the corner of the brown shelf, there is a big island made of 16 CIS cubes (8 per side) with a counter on top and next to that is my 12x12 cardstock shelves, letter size cardstock shelves, and more CIS cubes that hold patterned paper along the side of the stairs. The brown shelves aren't staying.
On the other side of the stairway I have my desk, work tables, two closets and another bank of counter height cabinets just like these. Yeah, I have a lot to do.

Thanks, and LOL I can't believe I actually posted a pic of (part of) my train wreck on the interwebs! I'm hoping that by posting it, it will force me to be accountable and get the job totally done. I think I must have emptied out 18-20 file storage boxes of stuff and it still feels completely overwhelming when I look at what I still need to go through just to get to the next stage of sorting. The other side is even worse right now because while I've been unpacking and sorting stuff on this side, when she's not in school my DD has been down there "making stuff" (i.e. a HUGE mess, LOL) at the work tables. I keep going over there to make sure there is plenty of newsprint down on the table in her spot so she doesn't color, glue or otherwise trash my pretty new tabletops by accident. All I can say is thank God for Magic Erasers! I've been taking pics periodically because I want to eventually go back and scrap about the process. It's already been such a long journey just to get here.

I totally get it. It has taken me years to get to the point where I am now with my space! It started in our old house when I bought furniture and some storage cabinets. That room got pretty organized and functional. Then we had a baby AND moved at about the same time. Yikes. So I had to start fresh! Although this time it was a lot easier bc I already had good systems in place and knew how I needed things to be stored. It has just taken longer since I don't have the dedicated time to put into it as much! It will be worth the wait!

Here ya go! In progress there's another shelf at the very top that is full of photo boxes but you can't see it since it's towards the ceiling. also not pictured is the wrapping paper rack on the right wall (in the "dead space" between cart and wall) and cold storage of some albums/mini books/altered items in crates in the same dead zone on the left. Now I have a ton, and I mean A TON of empty baskets, bins and stuff that I used in my old room and don't need now.

I love your closet! That looks great!
Once I get most of my boxes from the utility room unpacked I can tackle my nightmare closets that are packed full too. I had a studio that mostly worked in our old house until DD came along. Then the fact that there was no way to block off the stairs at the top or the bottom created problems with working up there. I had all hip walls in my old space, and almost no vertical storage which meant Iris carts under the tables and lots of cubes and short shelves. We moved when DD turned two and I also had to start over. When we moved in, I was just shoving boxes and drawer carts anywhere to get things out of the way so my closets down there are a mess.
I reused some of my freestanding cubes and kept my island from the old space but all the old particle board shelves will either be repurposed in the utility room or elsewhere in the house. I've got a lot of those plastic Iris carts that I wish I could get rid of, but I might end up still needing some. I just hate that plastic junk, the drawers never close right and they're not portable if you wanted to take just one drawer of stuff to a crop or something. At least I mostly know what's in the drawers, that's why they're my lowest priority right now. My goal is to get all the mystery boxes unpacked first!

crazy4scraps that space is amazing! It looks big enough to be an LSS! I actually have started on my scrapbook room this year, in spite of several years of just saying I'm going to. I have a small room that I used to share with my DH and his hobby - he took another room and yet the built in wall of shelves is still mostly his games (he's a war gamer). I have actually taken out 5 bags/boxes of true trash, organized a ribbon drawer, organized a small bookshelf, and consolidated and restacked my photo boxes. A friend gave me some CM photo boxes and someday I will actually sort the photos. I have also scrapped a 40 page album of my teen years 1970 and 1971 with plans to do '72 to '75 by the end of the month at a retreat. With any luck I will have a functional scrapbook room by the end of the year.

That's awesome myboysnme ! You're going to love having your scrapping space set up. Small or big, doesn't really matter. It's just nice having a dedicated area where you can work on things and not have to put it all away or pick it up if you're not finished with something. I know you're a prolific scrapper from your other posts, it must feel pretty good to knock such big projects out. I'm a slowpoke scrapper but hopefully once I get some of this stuff sorted and put away so I can find it when I want it, I'll be able to make some progress on the pages I've had rolling around in my brain for so long too. It is a nice space, and LOL now that you mention it looking big enough to be an LSS, ironically enough it's about 200 SF bigger than the first space my LSS occupied when I opened back in the day! I'm pretty excited to be able to start having people over to scrap again soon, AND be able to work on my own stuff without getting frustrated because I can't find and use the stuff I know I already have.

I also would need to make a cover for my Cameo if I'm going to keep it out on the table, to keep cat hair and dust out of it. I always have my cutter out and hooked up, but I have a big U shaped desk so I've got the room for it. I probably should make a dust cover for it now that I've got a spot to leave my sewing machine out and set up. I never covered my old one (used it at least weekly for 12 years or so) and didn't have any problems with it getting really dusty or dog hair in it. But ha ha, you could see in the pic I posted that the spot for the sewing machine is currently buried under a mountain of junk too! So I need to take care of that before I can start any sewing projects. It's kind of like how any home improvement project seems to snowball once you start it. You think, "I'll just repaint the walls" so you do that, and then the ceiling looks dingy. Paint that too, and the curtains look old! Change those out and the flooring looks bad. Now that the flooring is redone, all the furniture is suddenly looking pretty tired. So out on the curb it goes and before you know it, your little painting project has cost you $3000! Ha ha, yeah. That was our old house to a T!

Ok, friends… guess what? I think I'm done. SHOCKER!!!
EVERYTHING is put away, except for a few things I just don't know what to do with at the moment. Everything is out of the guest room and either in my closet or somewhere put away in my room. WHOA. I really can't believe it didn't really take me too long! I LOVE IT!!!
I also decided to keep my big project table/desk in here and not get a smaller desk to paint. I guess it's a good thing I never found the perfect desk. After putting everything away, it's ok size-wise. Not perfect, still a little on the large side, but it does have a lot of storage AND surface space to spread out while working on projects.
There's still a few little things I need: *more cropper hopper paper holders, but I'm waiting for a sale. In the meantime, my cardstock not in holders already is just sitting on it's own in-between some other heavy stuff on my shelves, so it's ok. *longer USB cord for my printer/scanner. *bluetooth thingy that will make my photo printer wireless. I can't remember what these are called, but I want one so I don't have to deal with the stupid cord not reaching to my laptop easily. *some floating shelves or something to prop up some photos or layouts or whatever in frames on one of my walls.
Now I get to do the fun part… painting and decorating! I realize I'm doing the painting sort of in reverse… but when we moved into this house my scrap room was last on the list and I didn't know what color I wanted. So now I need to choose a color and get to it. I don't think it'll be too bad to just push the furniture out of the way, cover it with a painter's cloth, and go to town. It's really just one wall that I'll have to move furniture anyway.
I have some big letter "A's" that I want to put on one of my walls and I can't wait to hang them!!!

Also, I packed some page kits for a crop I'm going to at the end of the month and it was SO FAST. I knew where everything was and I didn't spend all my time tripping over everything or digging through baskets trying to find a certain something or other. Yay! So glad it came together.

I got my room respectably organized around the beginning of this year - it's been nice to go in and do a project and locate my supplies quickly. And even more important - put them away quickly!!!
I just took a car full of supplies to a weekend crop (I canNOT preplan kits - my mind refuses to work that way!), and it took me a very short time to put everything away, because everything is put away!!!
So, go, go, go ladies! It is so worth it.

I'm still plugging away with the unpacking and sorting. It is such slow going because I have to decide what to keep and what to get rid of so it's not anything that anyone can help me do. The last few boxes were bigger ones (3' cube or so) that had a lot of putzy miscellaneous stuff in them so each box took a few hours to go through. I had to take a break from it yesterday to sit down and get my paperwork together for DH to give to the tax guy, and today I had some errands to run, but I'll be back at it tomorrow again.

Hello Ladies...I have been following along with this thread, and you have inspired me to get going on revamping my scrap area.
We have a mid-sized laundry/mud room built on to our house, and got rid of a large hot tub last fall. I now have a lot more room to set up my work table and a large china cupboard that I use for my supplies, and I have better access to it now. I did a large purge over the holidays which helped. I had not scrapped for probably 6 years, but my stuff was just sitting there taking up space.
I started scrapping again last fall, loved doing 30 Days of Thankful and December Daily albums which reminded me again how much I enjoy this hobby. I need to paint the room, and rent a buffer to strip and clean the floor - it's commercial linoleum tile, and it's a mess 'cause we live in a farm and it is a mudroom! But I've got the bug to start and may begin over Spring Break.
Thanks for sharing your progress and letting me see your amazing scrap spaces. Crazy4Scraps, your studio is awesome!

C'mon in, purplebee ! It sounds like you will have a great space yourself before too long! I know I'm going to love my studio once I get through the mess and get stuff sorted and put away. My DD has ANOTHER week off of school this week (spring break, what was the week off they had LAST month? Sheesh!) so I anticipate not getting a whole lot done with her being home, with people wanting to set up some play dates over the break and being out of the house for that, and with it being nicer outside now she doesn't want to stay cooped up in the basement all day. Ha ha, it's going to be a LOOONG week!

How is everybody doing? I surprised myself by getting more done last week than I thought I would with DD off of school. The stack of empty boxes is growing, but so are the stacks of semi-sorted "stuff" so things are definitely looking worse at this point! I need to start breaking down the empty moving boxes that are piling up to get them out of the way. But it was recycling day today so the cans were ALL the way down our long driveway at the curb (and yes, it SNOWED again last night, ugh!) so I decided that task could wait another day, LOL.
Things that are surprising me so far:
For someone who almost never uses lettering products, I sure do seem to have a *large* collection of alphabet stickers, rub-ons, etc.!
I think I have enough page/project kits to last me for probably the rest of my life. The same is true for blank mini albums, I've filled up two large drawers with assorted mini books and mini book kits. I'm going to have to take a harder look at those once I get the rest of my stuff unpacked and decide if I really need to keep all of that!
I could go on at least three more Disney trips and not run out of supplies for Disney albums, and that's after making the three major Disney projects I already have on my to-do list!
I think once the utility room is cleared out, I can move the empty freestanding shelf units in there so I have a place to stack up the boxes of stuff that I'm getting organized for the rummage sale in May. Once that stuff is out of the way it should be a little easier to sort out the themed stuff I have in the piles and get it into Iris/Options boxes. It feels good to be making a little progress even though it looks like a tornado blew straight through!

Wow, you've made some good progress!
When I initially unpacked my stuff from our move, I also had a TON of stuff to alter and lots and lots of blank mini albums. I'm in a phase (and have been for years) where I'm just scrapping and card making and so I ended up selling most of that stuff. I kept a few mini books and a few generic alterables (like picture frames) and let go of the rest. I'm glad I did because my space is at a premium and I'm not sure where that stuff would have gone. It sold well at a scrappy yard sale thing so I was happy to get some $ back.
And I hear you with the kits! Lol!

My work on my room has completely stalled. I have been scrapping at crops nearly every weekend and am getting lots of pages done, which does use up supplies! However, my room is still nonfunctional and still has piles of stuff to be put away.
With that, I took note of a wall alcove in the corner of my bedroom, where I currently have a coat rack with vintage clothing and hats. I told my husband for all of my upcoming events (anniversary, birthday, mother's day) I would like him to build shelves there. Then I will move albums to those shelves where I can sit in my bed and look at them, and the shelves they currently occupy will be freed up for supply storage.
I know when I have some place to actually PUT the stuff it will go much faster.

myboysnme having somewhere to put things away where they are still accessible is more than half the battle! While I was waiting for my storage units to be installed, I decided to use some unused CIS cubes in a small corner of my studio next to the closet. I had a pile of Iris bins stacked up there that had a lot of my more current (sorted) supplies in them. It never failed, the one I needed was always the one at the BOTTOM of the stack! Ugh! So I moved those cubes to that corner and put the bins in the cubes so at the most all I would have to move would be three bins instead of 12. Now that it's been that way for a while, I think I kind of like it like that and will leave it that way for storing the bins of stuff I'm currently working on so they're easy to access. What's cool is that when I get sick of working on a particular theme, I can swap out that whole bin (or bins) and use the space for other things I decide I want to work on next. Whatever themes I'm not currently working on can go on the shelves on the other side of the room. Still easily accessible if I need to get into them for whatever reason, but out of the way until I'm feeling motivated to use that stuff again.

It's been a while... Is anyone still working on getting organized? I'm still plodding along. Most of my scrapping stuff is unpacked and sitting in piles all over the place. I still have all of my stamps to do but will wait on that until some of this other mess is straightened up and put away and I have some open space again. I've been taking a little break from working on my studio because DH asked me to help him get caught up with the mountain of paperwork for his business, so in my free time for the last couple weeks I've been doing that. I think it helps to step back out of it for a bit to clear my head anyway and do something totally different. Out of his office, I recycled four bags of paper, have three more slated for shredding or burning, got another foot high pile of stuff entered into QuickBooks and filed, have about 6" more paper to figure out where he is on it, and four months of bank statements to reconcile. It's much easier to make quick progress on stuff I'm not nearly as invested in, if you KWIM. So my project for the next couple weeks will be to sort through the stuff I have set aside to purge and get it priced and ready for the scrappy rummage sale my friends are having in Iowa in a couple weeks. The ziplock bags I ordered from Amazon should be here today, and then I can start to work on it. Once it's all bagged up and boxed to take to the sale, there will be a little more room to move around again. Ha ha, when the rummage sale stuff is gone I'll *almost* be at the point where I could start working on some actual organizing vs. unpacking and piling, LOL!

I'm thinking about how much work it will be to move all my scrapbooking stuff. We are getting new flooring in the LR, DR, and kitchen. I scrapbook at one end of the LR and overflow onto the DR table with my Cricut.
I can't fit it all into the spare bedroom, but I am going to try to set up temporarily. I have a feeling I'll have stuff in the basement and garage. I'll lose my mind if this project doesn't go quickly!
I plan to purge as I pack up.
