Last bit...I think a lot of good men either are or have evolved into non-fighters, bc fighting is generally stressful, unhealthy and unhelpful. I kind of don't think there is any winning here, for the parent or the (adult) child. Yes. All of this.

I had a busy shift last night, after a busy weekend on the other shifts. I got it all done and even got to sit down for a bit and catch my breath. Walked the dog and had a nap. I have dinner prepped, sautéed peppers and onions, along with broccoli rabe and garlic sausage. I have rechauffe potato salad and cole slaw for sides. Also corn on the cobb or a salad are viable options

She was so funny when we first got here. She was like "you're so beautiful! You're my baby!" and super enthusiastic but also very agitated. They rescheduled the swallow test for the afternoon but since they gave her a lorazpam for the agitation, it knocked her out and now they'll do it tomorrow. One step forward and two steps back! naby64 That is such a sweet pic of your pupper! jeremysgirl I'm so glad you were able to connect with your DSD this weekend. I hope it opens lots of doors.

naby64--the best part of the sf summer--we live 2 miles due east of the ocean. the foggy side of town, so it can be cold and drippy from fog and howling winds in the afternoon.. but I can also drive 10 min over the hill and it is sunny and 75 or I can drive 30 min to where lucyg lives and it is 100.
our weather forecast comes in three parts. coast, bay and inland. but it is way too pricy for a summer place.

Our air quality here is the worst. It’s been all summer due to the fires in Canada headed down to the East Coast. It almost looks like someone was either using a grill or barbecuing something. It’s that kind of haze. There is a nice breeze so that helps but they advised everyone to pretty much stay inside if they could. Dinner is some ribs. I picked up from Costco that I froze. Probably some corn on the cob and I do have some blackberries that need to be eaten.

I just got home from the hospital and am cooking the other half of a huge steak I got at Whole Foods yesterday. I grabbed some sides as well so that will be dinner.
It's right across the street from the hospital so I'll be there pretty much everyday.

I guess I am in a photo posting mood today. I decided on Chickpea Biryani. And I might not be posting anything else for dinner this week. This was a one pot meal and called for 2 cups uncooked rice. All.week.long. It does have a snow flake icon, meaning it will freeze well, so I may be doing some food sealer bags to save for later. But the first couple of bites are really good.

cadoodlebug, you are smart. It sucks to miss another crop, but Greece is more important. You're nailing this thread hostess thing. Thank you. leannec, I hope that you're feeling better. Tearisci, Hospice is about comfort care and passing on your own terms. A feeding tube is invasive and comes with a host of complications. Not to mention, the surgical recovery is brutal. Hosipce patients aren't subjected to procdures. Tests and procedures don't make sense. Let her be free of all of that. Its hard to go through the rallying and lows, but the kindest thing you can do for your mother is to let her body go while keeping her comforatable. The morphine will take away the pain and at a certain point they might start Ativan. No one can prepare you for any of this. You are a totally loving daughter. My heart breaks for you. Watching my mother die was agonizing. ((((HUGS)))). jeremysgirl, sounds like a really bonding and informative trip. I'll be pinging you on Thursday. I'm so happy to hear about this progress. Last couple days of the cruise. I will have an earful for you. I can't imagine cooking and cleaning. Lol. I haven't lifted a dish or done a piece of laundry. Madame Scrapmaven is being spoiled rotten.

Happy Anniversary @stormst I was busy all weekend with my DDs and both babies. I was the driver. They had so much baby gear we barely fit. I have a big Volvo suv. We did buy a wedding dress. Still have no date or anything else. I asked her SO what he wants and he said I want whatever M wants as long as it’s not in the summer. We ruled out the venue near her. It starts at $47,000 for the bare minimum. We went to the lake on the way back. Dh brought Luke up. He and I went kayaking and to the “beach” and playground. I brought us all back tonight. Ate yogurt for dinner. Something bit my face and elbow and chest and I have an itchy rash thing. jeremysgirl I’m so glad you had a nice time. Tearisci big hugs. Be good to yourself. Watching your mom decline is so hard. I hope you feel better soon leannecnaby64 tough day ❤️ cadoodlebug. You definitely made the right choice.

The t-shirt I got him for Father's day last year with the dogs on it was found in all those clothes. I had a teary moment finding it. I thought I had mistakenly thrown it out. Your sweet doggie!!! Oops.... my eyes started leaking for some reason. it's such a roller-coaster of emotions and we're all worn out and tired. I'm so sorry!!! (( hugs ))
