At what age did your sons/male SOs stop growing? My dad was 20-21. My DS17 is still growing. Anyone have boys that had a late growth spurt? I just wondered how common it is.

Not sure but when my ds went to the dr last year (age 15) she said he probably wouldn't grow anymore. WTH. He's grown a few inches since then, btw. But up, not out. He's a bean pole.

Not in spurts, but my DH continued to grow and gain a more adult physique until about age 25. I don't know if that's normal or not, but both of our kids seem to be late growers and developers, as well. I suspect some of dh's late growing was not simply due a male growth patterns, but also a genetic trait.

My oldest son grew about 2 inches between 21 and 22. He stopped at 6'3". Strangely enough his feet grew almost a full shoe size as well.

I'm curious as well about my 14 yo DS. His best friend is with us right and they were neck and neck for the longest time (both on the short side). However, his friend is a few months younger and over the last year, his voice has changed and he's a good bit taller than DS now. (his parents are both short while DS has height in all 7 guys in the family).
Family legend has it that DS takes after an uncle that didn't sprout until late high school, maybe college and is now a 6'4" beanpole in his 40's. We keep expecting him to gain weight but he never does.
DS has been on steroids off/on for asthma and I sure hope that didn't stunt his growth. He does fine socially so that isn't that much of a concern yet but I think there is a social stigma for short guys. He's probably about 5'3" right now since he's about up to me and I'm 5'4". DH is 6' but most men in the family are taller.

DH was 5' when he graduated from high school. He came home from his first year of college 5'5" tall. He's an inch taller than that now.
DS is five feet tall at 13, and his orthodontist says he will probably end up being 5'10" (based on his X-rays.)

My son is 22 and I think he's inched up (truly ... an inch) between graduating high school and now. And I think MOST of that inch was in 2014.
As someone else mentioned, he's "thickened" a bit ... a more manly physique ... but he's still very lean. He can't gain weight to save his life. He may in his future... LOL... but he's SO active and he'll be employed in a career where he'll be fairly active as well.
So, I'd say that he's pretty much done growing at 6'2" / 165 pounds.

My brother grew an inch the year after he graduated from high school. I wonder if my husband did. I met him in college and when we went to his high school reunion people kept exclaiming that he was so tall. I wonder if he grew some or if they just didn't remember how tall he was. LOL

My brother was still growing at a rapid pace while in college, I don't think he stopped until about 22. He's 6'4" and wears a size 15 shoe. I remember that he would come home from college and be constantly telling my mom he needed new pants and shoes. He was always considered on the short side through Jr High and High School.
My DS is only 15, and I think he is just getting into his growth spurt now. He's 5'8" now, and I think he is a spitting image of my brother, so I anticipate the growth hasn't even started yet, lol... he could have another 8 inches to go yet! DH is only 5'8", so there's no way my DS is taking after him...plus his shoe size is already a size and a half bigger.

My 21 year old is now the same height as his 24 year old brother. The last 1 1/2 inches in the last six months. Older brother alternates with disgust and denial.

Both our boys were at their current height by 18, although my husband grew until he was in his early 20's. One son is over 6 feet, the other is 5' 10.

My high school friend was pretty much my height at graduation (5'2 ish), and by the time he was done his first year at university he was 6'2!! It was painful to watch him play hockey/volleyball/walk! that year as he tried to figure out where his 'new' legs and feet were--truly many Bambi on ice moments, lol!

My now 24 year old son had a big growth spurt at puberty, 8" in 18 months. After that he grew until he was about 16. He had hoped to have another late growth spurt but it never happened. He ended up 5'10" but still to this day wants to be 6'1"

My oldest is 16 and I think he has about topped out at the same-ish height as his dad. My boys are cursed with very short genes on my side of the family, and short average on Dh's side. I'm just praying they make it to 5'8", which would be taller than almost all of the men in my family.
When DS was 14 he had an MRI on his leg and the Dr pointed out his growth plates were almost closed at the time and he wouldn't be very much taller than he was. He has grown maybe 3 inches since then.
My 13 year old is finally starting to grow and has shot up 2 inches in the last 6 months or so. He's taller than me. But that isn't much of an accomplishment. Most 6th graders seem to be.

It varies from boy to boy. My sons urologist said a good indicator that rapid growth (not total growth) is over is when they can grow a beard, then they bulk and form muscle. But she has also predicted that he would have a huge 3"-4" growth spurt and he (thankfully ) hasn't (yet, knock on wood ) because he's already over 6' without the huge spurt. He's grown steadily approx 2 inches per year the last 3 years (13-16) No fast radical spurts. I though the doctor was right and he would have one because his father had a growth spurt so rapid as a teen that he has stretch marks on his knees. At this point He really doesn't need a huge spurt but he's still got baby smooth facial skin with not a stubble/hair in sight so who knows. You grow til you stop, not much you can do about it. LOL check out the tanner stage charts ( you can google ) or this calculator growingupboys.info/Calculators/TannerStage.htm

DS had an xray last year and the doctor said his plates were still open so I hope he is still on his way up at least some (14 and and about 5'3").

Both of mine were growing upward until around 20. Then the next year or two they muscled out to a more masculine look instead of a skinny kid bean pole look

My own son is 19 and has seemed stuck in height for a year or so now.
Bff's son is 21 and still growing (and he's at 6'3"!).

Thanks for your input. It seems late teen/early 20s still growing isn't unusual.

The feet tend to grow first, to support the upcoming growth in the legs/body.
As long as they are growing in the shoe department, then the body will be next.

I have all girls, the oldest is 17. She is still growing! I think my 17 yo is done. However, she's about 3 inches taller than I am. Most women are at least 5'7" though. Somehow being last, I didn't get the height or the blonde hair/blue eye combo.

my ds had his huge growth spurt the year he turned 13 - from one christmas to the next of that year he grew over 10"!!!! He's 6'4 now at 19. I think he pretty much stopped by about 17 or 18, but he's still filling out his frame

My 5'10" son stood next to someone 6' tall and they were the same height. That means, sweetheart, you grew again. You mAy or may not believe it but that doesn't stop it from being true.
He is 19 so I am not sure if he is done or not. I have no idea.

My 14yo DS (14 and 4 mos) is 6'4" and I don't think he's done, but his voice is deep and he has hair on his legs and a little bit on his face, but not much. His dad grew when he was 18-20, but I don't think he'll go that long.
All he's been doing is eating in the past 2 weeks!!! I mean we have a GIANT dinner, then he goes and eats another dinner 30 mns later. THIRTY MINUTES LATER!!! He maybe weighs 145.
FYI: I am 5'8", dad is 6'3", older sisters are shortish: 5'4" and 5'6"

My dad grew after the age of 21. He doesn't exactly know when he stopped growing but he ended up being 6'7". He never had growth spurts, just a continued growth pattern.
Most boys have a spurt or really start growing a lot in 7th or 8th grade. As far as I know, there's no magic age where it suddenly stops. It stops when their body decides to and it's different for each person.
My brothers grew very differently. One stopped growing at age 22 the other at 19 or there about. Both are over 6' tall (6'3 and 6'4)
Dds boyfriend stopped growing at age 17, he is also 6'3
