I may be totally wrong, but the way I thought it worked is that before fusing the pocket, you could put chipboard in (to "hold" the pocket space), and then after fusing, you could make a slit at the top of the pocket (slightly below the fused top of the pocket). If you are careful, you just slit through one side of the plastic pocket. Or, is it possible to just fuse the bottom & two sides of a pocket and leave the top open? I'm guessing the only top to leave open is at the top of the page protector, right? Otherwise, I'm thinking what you're thinking - that you fuse the pocket and then cut a slit. Hmmmm . . . In the video I watched, you can fuse anywhere and you can cut anywhere... The WRMK guy doing the demo in the video put a PL card in a pocket and cut a slit over it so it didn't look like there were many restrictions to where on a page you could use it... If you're starting with a 12x12 page, you could make the front and back layouts and then fuse them in, or make the front, fuze it in, then cut slits in the back when you want to put your back layout in... I kinda like that - means that the slits/open sides are only on the right hand page... Sometimes I have something that's part of my left layout that I want to be able to take in and out of the pocket but since that's the 'back' of the page protector it doesn't have any openings on it... I know I can cut a slit, but if there's already a slit on the 'front' side it feels flimsy and I have to find some way of closing the front side... Now I could fuse the front and cut the back... I've preordered one from ACOT... There was some other stuff that I wanted and they have a code for 20% on orders over $100 so I made it to $100.80 and used the sale code... I don't have any LSSs near me, and I'm not sure when/if Michael's in Canada will carry it... I can see myself using it enough just with sealing the top pockets so that cards don't fall out (big pet peeve), that for $24 it was worth it for me... This is the video I watched and at 2:56 is when he cuts over the PL to make a slit so you can pull the card out... youtu.be/UASdeuQ0DyQ

I liked how he sealed the long side pocket to keep the items in! I have noticed when I use that configuration the strip of paper usually slides around. I would get it just so I can have the little wheel thing!

I watched the video, but I still don't see how the pockets aren't on both sides - just like the are w/Project Life. I admit, I can be a little slow. Just ask my kids, lol.
I will anxiously await reviews from you ladies who purchased them!

I will anxiously await reviews from you ladies who purchased them! I'm not sure if I can answer/explain... If you buy divided page protectors, the pockets at the top of the page are open along the top so you can pull out the card/a tag/a souvenir that belongs to either side (front/right hand page layout or back/left hand layout)... The pockets that are further down open on one side, and most (all I think), open on what would be the right hand side layout when the protector is put into an album... Once you turn that page, so it's laying on the left hand side of your album, you're looking at the back of that page protector where there are no openings, except for the ones along the top edge... If you wanted to take out one of the cards from that layout (on the back of the page protector), you'd have to turn the page back/flip it over, and take the card out from the front side... This tool (hopefully anyways), would let you seal the opening on the front side and cut an opening on the back side... That way you could have hidden journalling, a tag, a souvenir, etc, that's part of the left hand side layout be removable without having to flip to another page to take it out... You can cut new openings/slits with an x-acto so it's not that part that's super exciting... It's being able to seal up the front side that's cool... Right now sewing, washi tape, and staples are options but it's not always the look you want... Not sure how well I explained it, but it's about what side you can access the pockets from - the number, size, etc, of the pockets will be the same on both sides...

Hello! Is there a thread where anyone has actually said they bought this and how they fared? If not, did anyone start using it and can tell me if it's good or not please? It's just available in the UK and I do like the look of it but I fall for hype all the time and don't want to this time!

Yes, I'd love to hear from some ladies who bought and used the Fuse. Specifically, have you had trouble with pages opening up after being fused? I read a comment on an Amazon page that mentioned this. Hubby has a wood burning tool, which is WAY hotter (and therefore WAY more chance of me burning down the house, lol) so don't know if I should spend the money on this. I make mini albums and would love to be able to cut page protectors and fuse them closed in any size I want. those waterfall ones look really cool too, for when you have a ton of photos.

Thanks meridon. I had already seen the videos but they are always done to make it look so easy! I was hoping for a typical scrapper's evaluation. Good luck with yours. Please do let us know what you think, if you don't mind? pattyg I like the waterfall ones too and assumed they came ready assembled just to be attached to the page protector with the tool but then I saw something that made out that the user had to assemble them.

Hobby Lobby has the Becky Higgins Project Life model and you can use 40% off coupon. Friend bought one and she also used to tack shut page protectors of album that would frequently lose pages out the open end. The girls at store I attend crops with were having a ball with it.

I wonder if a hot glue gun with no glue in it would do the same thing? Hmmmm.

Maybe but I'm thinking that a glue gun would be a more intense heat and spread over a wider area than the tip of the Fuse? You'd possibly need something to do the job of the other tip too. A knife might not give a clean enough cut. I think I've talked myself into getting one both for crafts and for work! I laminate things for work but sometimes it's something that I don't want permanently sealed so a Fuse seems a way round that. It's a reasonable price - we don't get the great coupons and discounts you get - so I might just bite the bullet. ETA - my procrastination was worth it! The shop I had intended buying from was oos so out of curiosity I looked online and found a Fuse £5 (approx $8) cheaper and no postage and packing. So by coming here to get advice, I have saved about £10 in total.
