I want to do that in our master bathroom. Our bathtub is so short that I can't take a bath in it and I am only 5'4". It would be much easier with my RA to have a shower than to mess with the little tub. We have a friend who is an experienced tiler who said he would help. Out of curiosity, how much would glass cost? You're not too far from me, so prices should be close. Or would your hubby be willing to drive to the state fair city to install???

Are you talking about a sliding glass door? If we were to buy a stock one (we can't because we have to have it in bronze) then we'd be looking at around $700 uninstalled. I'd plan for at least another $300. If your bathtub is short then it sounds like you'll have to have something custom made for you (60" is a stock size tub). You can get these things at places like Home Depot or Lowes. Our glass shop doesn't actually install shower doors for customers. We don't want to take on the liability of breaking someone's very expensive tile!
The shower pan we bought was from Onyx. Super heavy duty. You can get shower pans custom made also (but of course it costs more). If you have an experienced tile guy, he can build the shower pan onsite and then tile it. I didn't feel very confident in doing something like that so we bought a pre-made pan.

Looks amazing! I'm impressed. Tell me about that shower pan. What's it made of, is it stock or custom and where did you get it?
It's kind of stock and custom both. It's a stock size, but we picked our own color. It's a company called Onyx. You can order them at Lowes. There's at least 30-40 different colors you can order. It's a resin composite type material, kind of like corian counter tops. We bought the pan (32" x 60" which is a stock shower size) and a wall niche and if I remember right it was around $700-$750 for the pair. it is HEAVY.

Darn it all, I would love to support a Pea small business. Thanks, though, I don't know what I would do for an closure at this point. The space is 60", it's just a short tub. I just need to look and see what I can find. This project has been in my head since we bought the house. I hate the bathroom.

It's good it's 60", that will make it lots easier and cheaper. I suggest going into one of the big box stores and just looking at the options they have. Lowes is better than Home Depot in this department. Menards is nice too. We're getting a Jacuzzi tub for the other bathroom. We're disagreeing if it can fit a corner tub or not. It's not that big!!
