scrapnana, do you have a photo of it? I mean as long as you have that camera stuck to your face. I finally got around to taking pictures of my version, which is a bit different from everyone else's. There are four photos and details in the link below. Keep in mind, it is not nearly as nice looking as your Klingon, but it took no special tools to make it, either. Stamp Positioner Tool Hack

I was watching one of her newer videos today and she didn't use it in it either, even though she stressed the need to get a good impression with the stamp. I have to admit I kinda chuckled. That's the one I'm talking about! I about died laughing as well.

The 2 breakthrough products I am aware of are Scor-Pal and Spellbinders Wizard. The Wizard was introduced to me on the Memory Makers Magazine forum. I was told about it and all the gals were really up with it, I think the price was a little over $100. I thought I'll wait til it hits the stores. Stacy Caron got on line and told me she'd send me one with a couple of dies, if I liked it I could keep it and send her the money or I could return it. I liked it and sent her the money. When I had a problem with a die they replaced it. Scor-Pal was and still is just amazing. I learned about it thru a Canadian forum (cre8-something). I said the same thing, I'm all touchy-feely about big ticket items. I called Diana Crick, on the telephone, and she answered! She said she and her husband, Roy, were coming down to Bellevue (about 10 miles from my home) for their wedding anniversary, and if I want to see a Scor-Pal she would bring one down. The Queen & I met them at their hotel and she spent about 30 minutes explaining it to me. We have been friends ever since. Now Martha Stewart may have copied the Scor-Pal, but I'd bet she doesn't answer the phone. What I am getting at is the way these to women managed their business. They didn't sit around whining about the myriad of pitfalls in starting up with a new concept. They both had "Customer Service" down pat. They both got out to the CHA conventions and pushed their products to store owners. How many die-cut/emboss machines are there? How many scoring tools are there?

I wonder if you could make one using the Fiskears stamping tool and the plastic hinges, that way you could have a grid on it. It wouldn't be as inexpensive as the plain plastic, but it would be pre-cut and if you used a coupon it wouldn't be terribly expensive.

What kills me about this whole thing is according to the FCC, bloggers are REQUIRED to notify their readers that they were given the items to review. Even if it's just using a hashtag (#sponsored) or something like that. But it has to be clear that they didn't purchase the items. This practice is VERY lax in the paper crafting industry I've noticed. Someone will get in trouble one of these days over it. The weight loss blogging community is very good about this practice - in fact the sponsors REQUIRE bloggers to be clear in their posts. It's part of the deal. The funny thing is, I rarely see Jennifer McGuire use it at all anymore. She always uses plain acrylic blocks. Beauty blogs & tech blogs are really good about this too. I have noticed with the paper crafting blogs it is very lax. I am so happy I am not the only one. Paper crafters on You Tube are very good about it, least the ones I watch. I admit I don't watch the big stars. I have never seen a Jennifer McGuire video in my life. I guess I am not trendy. This is also makes me really oblivious too with the drama's going on in the paper crafting world. Good example- SCS. I came so close this weekend buying the MISTI. When I saw this thread and how long it was. I thought it was MISTI techniques, how to's and help. Boy, was I shocked after reading all eight pages. I am so grateful to everyone who posted, including the owner. You won't believe how many times I bought an item only to find out later the drama surrounding it. Really ruined the whole thing for me. I am grateful for great reviews too. I am going to be subbing to Citrus Twist. All the great in depth reviews about the kits really helped me make a decision. The owner is always so professional and nice.

I've made one using plastic hinges that I got from a seller on Ebay and a dollar store picture frame - it's a lot like the one Scrapnana posted but a bit smaller and uses the hinges instead of the tape. E-6000 glue works great for attaching them. I can't imagine why the Fiskars stamp press wouldn't work.

Do you have the link for the hinges? Or did you post it earlier?

Here's the link: www.ebay.com/itm/6-each-clear-acrylic-hinges-1-1-2-x-1-3-4-/191603110236?I've only ordered from this seller once, but he had very fast shipping and everything was packaged so as to avoid damage. I was quite happy with it. If you look in his store, he has tons of acrylic and polycarbonate as well, in all kinds of sizes. I didn't order any of that, so I can't vouch for how fast that ships or how well it's packed. I just thought his prices seemed very reasonable.

I posted on another thread. I made mine from a $2.99 DVD case and a $.59 piece of fun foam. Works great. Much better than the CD case version I made long ago.

A bit random, but the only place I've ever seen info about how Jennifer McGuire acquired a product is by looking at her FAQ and Disclosure under the About section... Not sure if that meets the legal requirements, but as a reader it doesn't stick with me when I read a post/watch a video... I take everything with a grain of salt - I tend to underestimate connections and relationships in business, and am usually 'the last to know/realize'... This is the page if anyone's interested www.jennifermcguireink.com/faqsI didn't realize that there was a religious quote(?) on the MISTI... I find that a bit odd since she is so protective of the design - yet doesn't think that some people may make their own simply because they find the quote offensive...

I've only seen it on her FAQ page too. I just assume everything she reviews has been provided unless she specifically states in the video that she bought it (for example, the zig markers-she said she was given a 12 pk but liked it so much she went and bought a bigger pack).

The thing is the FTC says we as blog readers and youtube viewers (etc.) shouldn't have to make that assumption.

I did see a video (can't find at the moment) where a crafter basically made a jig for her stamp press by creating a box with 3 corners that it and the cardstock sat in. She got great results. If I already had a stamp press that is what I would do even though it limits the size of what you are stamping on to the size of the press. ETA - Found it

Is there any way to remove the Bible verse? I have a friend of another religion and planned to give her one of mine, but I won't unless I can remove the verse. Separation of church and stamping, you know *wink*

No, you can't remove it. It's under the clear plastic on the base. I didn't even notice it until someone here mentioned it.

Why would the owner of MISTI put a religious verse on her product? Is she selling the MISTI to raise funds for her religion or donating a certain amount to charity? I guess what RiverIsis posted earlier about religious messages didn't sink in. I have the flu this week. I couldn't even think of the word vaccination earlier when I was telling my DH about California's new law. It's been one of those weeks. Yes. this would bother me if it's a product that I am buying that is not associated with a church or charity. I won't buy a product sold by an individual who is not affiliated with a church and is just promoting her faith. The reason for this is because I don't know what her faith is. She could be a dangerous zealot and I just supported that. I hope I am making sense with flu brain. I feel this way about anything religious or not. I am a big environmental activist but I wouldn't make a product and etch "Hug a tree!" on the product. Not only would I expect backlash from people who are not tree lovers. I would feel like I am advertising my values to make a profit. If the product has a message on it because some of the proceeds are going to charity then I will buy the product if it is a charity I support and the seller is showing where the money is going and what is being done with the proceeds. I posted on another thread. I made mine from a $2.99 DVD case and a $.59 piece of fun foam. Works great. Much better than the CD case version I made long ago. I made this version too. I love it. That's why I was thinking of buying a full MISTI.

I honestly can't recommend the tool because the warranty is too random for a product in this price category and the crazing seems to be affecting a far higher number than 1%. The issue I had with Jennifer McGuire's review of it, is that she didn't initially disclose how closely she was affiliated with the product nor whether she purchased it. When asked it took persistence to get the information that she got the product to promote it. No problem, loads of people do, but be upfront about it. I respect honesty. That is why I said, thanks for the feedback but I look for feedback from people who have purchased it and rate that higher as supported by the FTC act. She also got pretty close to threatening people too, saying she would defend this product's originality and help Iliana fight anyone who was trying to steal her idea. As seen in this thread, the idea was hardly new or original. TBH Iliana created her own negativity. The first year to six months she had a larger and increasing community that supported her 100% and were only offering constructive advice. I'm a big fan of small businesses - that's why I have a Scor-pal and not some knock off product. That seems to have been a successful business model without all the upsets. What kills me about this whole thing is according to the FCC, bloggers are REQUIRED to notify their readers that they were given the items to review. Even if it's just using a hashtag (#sponsored) or something like that. But it has to be clear that they didn't purchase the items. The funny thing is, I rarely see Jennifer McGuire use it at all anymore. She always uses plain acrylic blocks. lindsay, the frugal crafter and craft test dummies are the only two that consistently state the product is sponsored for review. I understand the Cuttlebug now has an item that can do the same thing. Yep, the cuttlebug all in one tool works great add the little b positioner sheet to the green side and you are good to go for less than $20. Just use temporary dot runner, washi or post it tape to hold your paper, no magnet to get lost or pinched required. Sent from my NX008HD8G using proboards

Ooh - just googled the Cuttlebug thing you guys mentioned and I think I just found the last reason I needed to buy the WRMK Letterpress Kit... I've been wanting it but have been putting it out of my mind because I wasn't sure I'd use it enough to justify the cost, but I could use it like the MISTI... Even down to the positioners that hold the paper in place... Thanks for mentioning the Cuttlebug!
