I just received an email with a code to get 30 free days at the new site when it launches. Does that mean they're going to some kind of subscription service instead of being able to buy each class separately like it used to be? If so, I'll be extremely disappointed and they can definitely count me out.

I just saw the same email and wondered that too. I've never taken a ton of classes there but if it's moving to a subscription model I don't see the need for me to check in at all.

Am I understanding this correctly? We have to pay a monthly fee to access our forever access classes?

Am I understanding this correctly? We have to pay a monthly fee to access our forever access classes? No I think the old classes are at another site now? I didn't really pay much attention to that part because I had already downloaded all my stuff by the time they finally came up with another solution. This whole situation just reinforces my dislike of Studio Calico.

I just received that email too. I smacked my head - how much more can they do to piss people off? I know I am - why charge me a monthly fee for classes I have already paid a lot for?

Am I understanding this correctly? We have to pay a monthly fee to access our forever access classes? Wow...I hadn't thought about that. I am done, done, done with BPC after this last fiasco, but it will be a cold day in hell before I pay them anything to access those classes. I am working on downloading all the many classes I bought from them. Guess I better get all of them- even the ones that are supposedly moving- just to be safe. I do not trust anything they say anymore.

I'd be ticked at BPC and not just SC...they're the ones that used old technology instead of paying someone to set them up properly in the first place. Trying to save them money at first or keep profits up? Either way it didn't quite work out like they thought. I won't be paying a monthly fee for sure!

They are the ones I was a loyal customer to and spending a very large sum of money to over the course of many years. I have limited dealings with SC. The only reason I have any dealings at all with SC is because of Ali Edwards and Cathy Zielske. At least CZ is just product. I wish they hadn't paired up with SC, but they did. They are two of my favorites and I had no choice but to follow along if I want to support them both and I do. But when I think about this whole mess with BPC, my anger is directed at BPC and SJ.

I was never a fan of BPC as I always thought their prices were high. I remember the post about the forever access classes being deleted and thought that was unfair. So, does this subscription allow you unlimited classes or are those extra?

Here is what it says on FAQ about past classes.
If you are looking for your classes from our previous site, please visit my.bigpictureclasses.com. Some of your previous classes will be migrated to this new platform in the coming months. Please keep an eye on your email for information regarding that transition. This content will stay live using your old log in and password until July 2015.
All students who purchased classes that do transfer over to the new site will receive a unique activation code via the email address associated with your Big Picture Classes account. Once you set up a new account on the site, and follow the instructions in your email, your past classes will appear under your classrooms tab. You do not need to purchase a BPC membership to access your previously purchased classes.
I won't be paying a monthly fee- not interested in giving any money to SC.

This made me laugh! I didn't receive the codes for most of my videos last time, how can I expect a good out come here?

I answered my own question. The membership does not cover their 'premium' classes. No thanks.

Thank you for finding and posting this! I was looking to try to find it. I haven't received any emails about the videos and zip files for my classes they are discontinuing the way they said they were doing to send out. Hopefully I will find something there.
at least that answers the question. Why couldn't they say that in the email - even in small print? How difficult would it be not to piss people off?

Just browsing throught the new site and I found it cumbersome. I downloaded the classes that I wanted that weren't going to transfer. Now I'm going to download the classes that are supposed to transfer over to the new site. I don't trust BPC/SC not to charge me a subscription to access classes I've already paid for. With all of the free content you can find on the web, plus all of the classes I've already paid for, but haven't finished, I don't need to sub. Any new class purchases I make in the future will be from Craftsy, Creative Live & Debbie Hodge's Get It Scrapped.

The new site is very hard on my eyes. So it says on the site that you can get a free 2 week trial. The email gives you a free 30 days. Think that you can use both to get 45 days free?

I do not trust anything they say anymore. Please correct me if I am wrong: when the scrappy mags became digi only they used the same business model. A monthly fee bought you the next month's content and secured your access to the older content already paid for. Some people were not happy. They subscribed for a while or quit (I am one of these people). Now where are those digi scrappy mags- a lot of them folded. Are we seeing the same sort of thing perhaps?

I want to thank all of you for the information you posted here. You all are super awesome! I did go to my.bigpictureclasses.com and that site has my classes accessable until July 2015. I chuckled to myself wondering if that was July 1 or July 31. Not that it is hill I am going to die on, it was just another important detail not easily accessible that is causing frustration on both sides. The lack of details turn off a customer base and cost a business a lot of man hours/salary so they can deal with it. I am sure SC employees will deal with it soon. I am curious about the new site. Unfortunently I spent so much time trying to find out the information I needed that it is going to have to go to the bottom of my priority list Thanks again ladies.

houston249, I ran out of time too. Have to keep at it- instead of spending time scrapping. D a r n it! I'd forgotten about the online magazine fees. There's no evidence BPC / SC leaders learn from their own mistakes. I doubt they'll learn from another's. I'm a little sad, my feelings toward BPC has begun to alter how I view anyone associated with them, including past or current teachers. Thank you for listing new sources for classes and content.

I looked this morning and it looks like $9.95/month. I've only taken a few classes there, but it seems to me you would have to take a lot of classes, or on a regular basis, to make it worthwhile. Just not my idea of a good budget expenditure.

I don't see how companies can guarantee lifetime classes. It is expensive to maintain when they aren't doing well.
Like someone above, I didn't get daily prompts for the classes I took. I am not surprised by anything they do & won't be taking future classes with them.

I'm curious about the new site and will take advantage of the free trial. Depending on what you actually get access to (not quite clear on that!), it could be worth it. BUT, that depends on what kinds of classes will be offered and how they work. From what I understand, they will be switching over our old classes and we will have access to them, but I'm with an earlier poster, I may go ahead and download ALL of my classes from the original site before it disappears. You never know!

I am bumping this thread to call attention to a different deal (classes free for the rest of 2015, leading to purchases of products and perhaps a willingness to join up after the free period) being offered. I do not wish to infringe TOU or in any way be disloyal to this site, so will just say check today's Scrapbook update post.

I'll start a new thread with the announcement, but scrapbook.com is expanding and offering free class through 2015. I bet they want to see how this does for them sales-wise. Very exciting! Thanks for pointing it out, ScrapsontheRocks!

So with BPC, I have to pay for the privilege of then being able to pay for classes? That just sounds like too much paying for me.
