Wow! I got my first Le Creuset piece about a month ago and I thought it was a steal. I found a 3 1/2 quart French oven at Home Goods for $69. Regular price is $240. It was marked down so low because it was missing the knob on the lid. I knew from my searches that it was easy to buy a knob so another $14 later I have a $240 French oven for $83. I had no idea just how much I would love it. Now I want a larger French oven. Enjoy your piece!

OOh that's a steal, too! I hope to one day get an oven. I have a skillet that my hubby bought for me a couple of years ago and it's seriously one of my favorite possessions. When we're in a different place in our life, I hope to have more pieces. Enjoy your steal, too!

Awesome find and killer price! I have one in blue and I paid $159 plus another $100 for the panini press.
ETA: definitely get an oven. I have 5 of them in different sizes and they are the pots I cook with most of the time. I also have the braiser and the wok. I absolutely love Le Creuset!

Sweet! I would love a Dutch oven. I read you can make artisan bread in them and it's something I'd like to try someday.

When we're in a different place in our life, I hope to have more pieces. Enjoy your steal, too! I have to say it's quickly become one of my favorite possessions, too. I want to make everything in it. I was so tickled when I found it, especially since I had been carrying around a $50 Home Goods gift card for over 2 years in hopes of one day finding a L.C. item to use it on. This particular day they must have just received a shipment of L.C. items because in addition to the French oven they had a number of stoneware and pottery dishes. I ended up also buying myself a stoneware pan and bought another one to put away for a birthday gift for a friend.
I can see some yummy chicken dishes being made in your pan. And a Panini!

That was an amazing deal! Why would anyone get rid of that? Maybe they don't cook and got it for a wedding present? Oh well. Their loss; your gain!
I have a couple of pieces. My favorite is one that my mom passed down to me when she stopped cooking. Unfortunately, it is orange from the orange and harvest gold days. But I don't care what it looks like since it has so many wonderful memories for me. That is the one I learned to cook in as a child and I remember Mom had to lift it for me because it was so very heavy.
I hope you get years and years of enjoyment out of it. Do you already have your first meal planned for it?

jenJust followed your link to your adoption page....awesome!! How long will the process take??? We hope to send in the paperwork this week. We've been waiting on our tax return and as soon as we have back it from our accountant we can send our packet. Then we'll have two visits with a caseworker and she'll write her report. Hopefully, all of that will happen within about a month or so. Meanwhile, we have to wait for the CPS check on us to clear. As soon as she submits her report and CPS verifies that we're incident-free, we can be in the match book. Then it's anyone's guess as to how long we will wait. They said the average wait is 14 months.

She said it annoys her that she can't clean it well between the bumps.
What's even more amazing is a person before me passed on it!
I showed it to DH and when he heard that burgers were a good thing to make in it, he got pretty excited. I rarely ever make burgers because I don't have a cooking method I love, so I think I'll christen it with burgers for him.

I use a lot of cast iron cookwear. I only have two that have the enameled interior like your new pan, but I have lots of pieces of the good old fashioned cast iron in frying pans, a dutch oven, a cookie sheet/grill combo, and a set of grill pans that double as serving pans when you place the hot cast iron piece onto the wooden base. I love those grill cast iron things because it keeps whatever you've cooked super hot while you eat it. I started researching to see what other options there were for cleaning these things. I've always been kind of queasy about not using soap and the dishwasher to sanitize things. What I found was this square metal chain thing that got very high reviews on Amazon. It claimed it is amazing on cast iron, enameled items like your new piece, and even glass pans that have gunk stuck on them. It was a bit pricy for a cleaning scrubber, $20 when I bought it - but under $17 right now. I took a chance and ordered it and I love it. I LOVE it. It gets baked on food off without much effort on my part, it conforms to whatever shape you are scrubbing, so it should slide right over the raised bumps in your pan like it does my grill plates. I love it. And as a side bonus, it feels fun to play with, and my little great niece discovered it and has become attached to it. I even stuck it in my purse a couple of weeks ago when we were going out to lunch. I have found that by giving her something from my purse to play with, she is a lot more patient and better behaving in a restaurant. (read this - she stops screaming like a banshee and driving me nuts. That kid has some major lung power!) I think it was fun for her to have it outside my kitchen too. She sat through the waiting period before our food was served quietly playing with it and putting bread ties in between the chain sections and twisting them shut (I like to bring something she has never done before to hold her focus) Anyway, you might want to give this a try to get that baked on black gunk out of the crevasses. www.amazon.com/Knapp-Made-CM-Scrubber-trade/dp/B0087UYR1S/ref=pd_ys_sf_s_rp_a1_33_p?ie=UTF8&refRID=1BSD2ZNP03YQN3WBH2FPETA I also use the Lodge Grill Pan Scrapers that have grooves for scraping along the bumps.

Sweet! I would love a Dutch oven. I read you can make artisan bread in them and it's something I'd like to try someday. You don't need a Dutch oven to make artisan bread, you can also use a stainless steel pot and lid as long as they're all stainless with no plastic handles. I've made the bread you're talking about and it's amazing

Score!
I love my LeCreuset and Lodge cast iron. I make all sorts of soups, stews, and pot roasts in the dutch oven, and nothing is better than cast iron for fried chicken.
My mom has the grill pan and loves hers. Dh tried it and loved it so much he bought one that he found on sale at TJ Maxx.
Since your dh loves burgers, you should check out grinding your own meat in a food processor. The meat is safer because the bacteria is only on the surface of the meat in steaks unlike grinding up a whole bunch of meat at the factory.
Martha Stewart has some great tips and combinations like sirloin and short ribs. We used Alton Brown's recipe, and the burgers were the best we've ever had.
