Oh he is so nice, and you did such a great job with him, you are his Angel. I miss having horses, but no longer have the time for one. Prayers that Rio's health issues are easily cured.

Hope all goes well. The before pics made my stomach squishy but you did a great job of making him beautiful again. You are really a good person.

Rio is a beautiful horse!
What? Not until 3/20? That seems so far away. I would be antsy the whole time waiting for that appt. Sending positive thoughts for you and Rio. He deserves a much longer and happy life.

Rio is a beautiful horse! What? Not until 3/20? That seems so far away. I would be antsy the whole time waiting for that appt. Sending positive thoughts for you and Rio. He deserves a much longer and happy life. It does seem far away and I am antsy about it. I have had some bad luck with vets over the years and this one I actually trust. So it made me feel better today that he feels confident that what is going on is not a big deal and can wait a couple more weeks. Rio was alert and very energetic today so as much as my anxiety is screaming at me that he surely must be on death's door, I am hopeful that the reality is very different. Rio is 21 this year and his age weighs heavily on me. Lots of friends and family were not shy about telling me it was stupid to take on a senior horse in such bad shape. That he would break my heart sooner rather than later and wouldn't be capable of anything. He has proven all of them wrong at every turn. But still... the number is concerning simply because the fact is that he won't be with me as long as a much younger horse would be. I have a friend with a 36 year old horse though that is still going strong and is still being ridden. So I just repeat to myself, age is just a number!

What counts is how much you both have benefitted by having each other. Those years represent more than just a number. What a beautiful life you've given him and he's given you. You're both still in my thoughts today and I'll continue to pray that you'll find a quick and happy resolution!

Is your horse a family member? If he is then he gets prayers. If he is just the humming birds in the yard then maybe not so much but pets get prayers. What if this were 100+ years ago and you needed him for transportation? it would be trouble if he were ill. So prayers he gets! Wishing him a happy apple and a big carrot!
