No matter the time, no matter the age, losing a Mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart will know, but her goodness, her caring and her wisdom live on like a legacy of love that will be with you always.
I'm very sorry for your loss, @shecallsmenana. You're right. Cancer does suck and hospice is great. Great for the patient, and great for the family. We lost my MIL to lymphoma shortly before Christmas. We only had hospice for a few days, but their help was so welcomed and so appreciated.

I am so glad you got to spend those 8 months with her. I lost my mom to lung cancer and the doctor's said 6 to 9 months. It was exactly one month.
She wanted to celebrate Christmas at Thanksgiving, I really resisted and said she would be around for Christmas, she didn't make it to Thanksgiving.
It's so hard to lose your Mom, and cancer really sucks!
I am glad you had the opportunity to really love her and care for her at the end. I think it matters.
Thinking of you.

I'm so very sorry. My Mom died in hospice last Sept after fighting cancer. Hospice nurses have a special place in my heart.

I am so sorry you are lost your Mom. I just lost my Mom February 8th to cancer. She lived in assisted living and was in Hospice care for the last year. They were wonderful to my Mom and to our family. It hurts and I feel like I'm just trying to pick up the pieces. I wish you peace as you try to cope with the loss of your Mom.
