My father would have been 112 this week if he were still alive. I am just wondering if there are any Rpeas whose parent(s) would have been older. My dad was born in 1903 and was in his 50s when I was born.

Strange you should post this. My mother was born in 1903 and I posted a picture for my family on facebook on her birthday. She was 35 when I was born. I miss her every day.

My dad would have been 81 this year, he died at 64.
Seems like it was yesterday, not 17 years ago.

Similarly for my dad. He would've been about 82 but died at 68 from lung cancer. It's been 15 years but I miss him like crazy. Mom is still going strong at almost 80. Same house for nearly 40 years and same car since 1977. Finally retired from her lunch lady job she had for 30+ years. Not a whole lot changes for mom! Ha ha!

My Grandpa was born in 1903 but he was 51 when my mom was born, I am 37. In fact today would be his 112th birthday. Sorry not the question you asked but the post title caught my attention.

My Dad was born in 1905, so would have been 110 this year. Sadly, he died young - at 62. I have to admit that I was so relieved when I [and then my younger brother] turned 63! It was sort of a superstitious thing, but I just couldn't help it. Must be the Irish in me!

My Mom is celebrating her 90th birthday this weekend, and I am happy to have flown in to NY right before the snow hit yesterday to be with her. She is in relatively good health, and is still sharp as a tack! Still lives alone, with my sibs close by. Dad has been gone for 19 years. I'm 63.

If my parents were still alive today, mom would turn 88 this year and dad would have been 94. Neither one of them were the oldest child in their family, so I would have aunts and uncles from their generation older than that if they were still alive.

It was sort of a superstitious thing, but I just couldn't help it. Must be the Irish in me! My dad was 61 when he died and I think both my brothers were relieved to have passed that milestone. With today's medicine my father wouldn't have died that young. My eldest brother and I are both on meds for hypertension which contributed to our dad's and his sister's early death. She was just 39.

Both my parents are alive. My mother is 70 and father is 74. My last grandparent just died late last year (paternal grandmother). She was 89. I will be 50 this spring.

I know you are asking about parents, but my grandpa was born in 1886 and my dad was born in 1946 (60 year difference). I'm in my 30's. The rest of my grandparents were in their 70's when I was born. They had all passed away before I was 30, but they lived to be 93, 98, and 99.
My dad died too young at 63; he'd be 69.

Both my Grandfathers were born in 1900. I always like it because it was easy to know how old there were. So they would be 115 this year. One of my Grandmothers was 14 years younger (born in 1914) and she lived until she was 92. She would have been 100 last year. In my mind I am going to take after that side of the family and live into my 90's! Got to aim for something

My mom was 84 on the 27th of February. My dad, had he lived, would have been 83 on February 4th. He died at age 47 on March 9, 1979, so that anniversary is coming up fast .

Yes, my dad was born in 1890, my mother in 1899. My dad was 48 when I was born in 1938. We (they) lived in San Francisco.

I think you win! My great-grandmother was born in 1900. It's that sort of gap I was musing on, my father and your great grandmother were of the same generation! My 'oldest' great grandmother was born in 1844 and the 'youngest' in 1861. My paternal grandfather died in 1910 and my maternal grandfather when I was 3, my father died when I was 8. The older I get the more I regret not having had them in my life. I remember my grandpa even though I was so young but I don't remember much about my dad and never knew his mother.

Nope. My parents are 62 and 68. My husband's grandmother is still alive and she will be 101 on April 15th.

My grandpa was also born in 1903, and was 45 when my dad was born. It's astonishing to think he'd be 112 this year--I remember him well. I am 44.

It was sort of a superstitious thing, but I just couldn't help it. Must be the Irish in me! I remember the year my dad turned 58. On Christmas Day he took my older sister and I into his home office and laid out his funeral plans, where the safety deposit box key was, finances, etc. His father had died at that age and he clearly thought he would follow in his footsteps. I am happy to say that my dad will turn 70 next week.

My dad has done the family genealogy and the most surprising things were babies fathered by men in their 50s and 60s on 2nd and/or 3rd marriages (no divorces, just widowed multiple times). His father died at 67 and until he got into genealogy, my dad really thought that he would be lucky to make it that far. He will be 86 in a month and is in great health.

Sort of an offshoot, but going with this topic...
My DS is a history major. He plans to teach secondary social studies. He texted me a few weeks ago with his daily historical trivia. Unless something has changed very recently, John Tyler, our 10th US President still has two living grandsons. Let that sink in. Not great-great grandsons. Not great-grandsons. Grandsons. Or as DS put it, "my grandfathers came of age during Vietnam and Korea. Theirs came of age during the War of 1812".

My grandfather was born in 1903. He was 47 when his youngest child, my mom, was born.
My parents would have been 69 and 65 this year. It's weird to think of my dad being almost 70. They've been gone almost eight years.

My dad would have been 99 this year. He died when he was 81. My mom on the other hand is still alive and kicking, she is 93. She'll outlive us all, her sister is 97.

I am 50 and have a great-grandpa that fought in the Civil War. My grandpa was born in 1870 and was in his 50's when my dad was born.
