That poor woman, she has to be devastated. I think things like this are the reasons our local police departments have been offering the use of their lobbies as exchange sites for online sales like Craigslist.

This is localish to me.
Attempted murder charges can be filed in the case of the mother. We also have an unlawful termination of a pregnancy law, I'm not an expert in that. The only way murder charges in the case of the baby could be filed would be if the baby lived outside of the womb for a period of time, but since this isn't a typicaly occurance, nobody knows how long the baby would have to live in order to file murder charges. I do wonder about filing kidnapping charges if they can't charge her with murder.

This is just awful. My heart goes out to that poor woman.
About a month ago our local police station put out notice that residents who wanted to use Craig's list or other private party sales should do so in a public place and suggested the police station parking lot as a preferred place to meet. The police wouldn't get involved in the sale but their presence would be a deterrent for criminal activity. Those of you who have things you want to sell should check if your local police or fire station will allow you to meet for your transaction on their property.
