I had someone on follow and nothing happens when they post. I thought it would notify me or something when they post something I might want to read. What is the purpose of "Follow"?

I had someone on follow... It was ME, right?! Joke. Really, I have no idea. I assumed there would be some sort of alert, though.

I was wondering that too. I've had someone following me for months now, and I don't think we've ever even interacted on the board....

I'm not sure, I don't follow anyone, but it looks like a link to anyone you follow would show up on the Following tab in your profile. So, if you were so inclined, you could go there, click on the member's profile and access their activity (relatively) easily.
I'm not sure I see the point, but I'm sure it's useful to some people.
ETA: Ok, I followed the OP for science LOL. Once I'd started following here, all of her recent activity showed up on my Following tab in my profile, and then I could click directly on posts/threads that interested me. You don't have to click through to their profile or anything (like I guessed above).

It seems like it would get really unwieldy really quickly. It showed a long list of your recent activity. If I were following even 10 people, it would be a lot to sort through!
