Next week, Australia is moving into the modern ages with Netflix. FINALLY. For a place that had about 5 free to air stations 15 yrs ago this is a big deal.
We've had something here for awhile called Quickflix. DVDs and streaming etc, but you have to pay to watch premium shows & movies and the selection isn't all that great. They haven't released much in the way of details for Netflix AU except we do know that we'll have unlimited downloads with our ISP.
In the US, do you have to pay extra to stream premium shows & movies or is anything and everything included? How does it all work? I know we won't have certain shows as they've been licensed to certain providers for the time being - Orange Is the New Black is exclusive to Foxtel (our version of cable TV), but that's all we really know.
The basic package for Netflix in the US provides you with streaming capabilities and access to any InstantWatcher content. Anything that is available for streaming is included in that price. You have to go up a level and pay more to get DVDs and Blu-Rays in the mail. Most people I know just do the instant streaming and don't bother with the mail-in DVDs and Blu-Rays.
