I used to feel like I had to finish every book. Then one day, I wondered -- who made that "rule" and why did I care? Books don't care, they don't have feelings. No one else cares. The only person affected by that "rule" was me -- in a bad way. So buhbye "rule."
I give a book 50 pages.
Unless it's absolute dreck or is written with a lot of slang/jargon and then I give it two pages. (I had just started a book set in Australia, written in the first person pov and the entire first two pages were basically incomprehensible to me because it was so full of slang, nicknames, shortened versions of words, etc. I flipped ahead and saw the entire book was like that. Oh hell to the no. It was enjoyable to hit the "Remove from device" option on my Kindle.)
