Yes, I have Googled and have seen both answers. I'm going with no, as it could cause an infection, but I wanted to see what the general consensus was.

I pop just about all blusters and then cover with Neosporin and a band aid. It's less painful to me when they are popped and I have yet to get an infection. I have never had one from an ant bite though

Popping the ant bite blister won't cause an infection. That would not be any more likely to happen than any other wound. Keeping it clean is all it takes.

I'd pop it, then cover with a bandaid. Keep it clean and it shouldn't get infected.

You don't pop, you drain. As long as it isn't hot, or red , getting bigger , lumpy or any black. It should be fine.

I would poke it with a sterilized needle and let the fluid out. Add some Neosporin and a bandaid and you should be fine.

I'm sure that's what the OP meant, sliding a needle into it to let the fluid out. She wasn't going to bust the top open.

When DD had a blister from a spider bite, I was specifically told *not* to pop the blister.

I have never had one from an ant bite though This is what I do, although I've never had a blister from a bite. I'd be concerned that I might scratch open the blister if I just left it.

Have I been doing it wrong? I thought you weren't supposed to pop (drain) any blister? I've done the needle in pimple before...

I always did and rubbed with a little bleach. Then it doesn't itch after.

I've never popped a blister, so I'd say no.

I always pop them. Never had an issue. It hurts too much not to. As long as you clean it and keep it covered there is no issue.

Are you talking about fire ants? I've popped mine, it feels so much better. Those da*n things hurt.

Fire ant bits, looks like little water bubbles. That doesn't look, like one. Have you tried putting on...hemorid cream? No joke it takes the itch right away, we have it on hand and it really works.

It doesn't itch at all. I just want it to go away due to where it is. I wasn't sure if draining it would help it heal faster or not.

I can't help myself. That would have to go if it was on my hand.

That would drive me nuts to have it in that spot. I'd PPP that sucker and rub some neosporin on it and call it good.

Sometimes I think lancing things like that and getting all of the yuck out does help them heal.
DH just han an infected cuticle, he gets them every so often. There's no broken skin but the whole side of his fingernail swells up, is super-painful and red. I had him soak it in Epsom salt water for about 10 mins. Then he applied a tiny amount of pressure and it oozed out a ton of yellow crap. From in between the skin and nail. Just from one day! (Yuck!)
Once the pressure is off and the yellow junk out, it felt much better and was back to normal in a couple if days.
No needle needed.
If my hand was like yours, I would open that up.
ETA: I never pop a burn blister. That skin needs to stay intact ad long as possible to avoid getting stuff into the wound.

It isn't getting bigger is it?
I think I would put neo on it and cover it until tomorrow. No red or heat, go ahead and drain it.

It doesn't seem to be getting bigger, but I really just started watching it today because I originally thought it was just a regular blister from planting. (I have a regular blister in the palm of my hand) It has a small red halo around it, but it's not hot or itchy. If I press on it, it is a little tender, but not TOO painful.

I got them all the time growing up in Florida. I always popped them then cleaned with alcohol to stop the itching. Then covered with neosporin bandaid.

Up until a couple if years ago I would have been messing with that until it covered my whole hand.
But my dear dear valentine was outside gardening, got a tiny cut on her foot , her darling husband wanted to take her to the ER , but she just cleaned it out and put a bandaid on it. She died three days later from it.
I now watch ever little cut / mark I get from outside.

I'm about 99.9% sure it's an ant bite (Most likely not fire), because I stirred up an ant pile while scooping up mulch out from around the tree. I found at least one ant actually on my hand, I just didn't see the one that made this bump.
