I have enjoyed the series for the nostalgia factor alone. In the early years I thought the writing was exceptional but then it became redundant. This may have been because AMC didn't finance a production budget and it limited creative choices. I should have stopped watching long ago, but will stick it out to the end. Btw, I have the Joan doll.

DH and I recently changed our DISH package and I no longer get AMC. Years ago I would have had a meltdown at the thought of missing this show, but right now I'm not event that bothered by it. I know one day soon enough I can watch it on Netflix or something and that's good enough for me.
Side note: this winter I binged on Sons of Anarchy, and the girl who plays Tara looked SO familiar to me. I finally found out she was previously on Mad Men, but I can't remember who she played. Does anyone know? I looked up her character name on IMDB and it didn't ring any bells.

Yes! We have waited long enough. Since Downton Abbey ended, I have missed my "must watch" Sunday nights followed by "must read" recaps on Monday. Happy days are here again! PS - I also love those Barbies!

I'm both extremely excited and also super sad because I love this show so dearly! I didn't start watching until I think S2 but eventually caught up, and I have all the DVDs so I've watched the subsequent seasons more than once, and I have been watching the episodes on AMC Sunday mornings when those air. Assuming my guide is correct, it looks like AMC is starting a marathon around 12:30am EDT Sunday, so I have that set ready to go and will end up watching most of the past year or so while I'm around tomorrow.

I love this show! I binge watched it after a surgery a few years back, and got addicted. Can't wait to see the final episodes, and see if Don can get his act together. I'm also looking forward to seeing Sally's character grow some more, she seemed to be in the last episodes. Off to check my DVR again (even though I already have, but I'm paranoid one of my kids have cancelled it to record other things, lol)

I go through love & indifference with Mad Men. The first couple of seasons were so good, but the gaps between seasons kind of kill it for me. I will definitely watch to see how it ends though.

I was a relative latecomer to MM and am now a huge fan after mammoth binge watching all the episodes to date. As I have said before on every MM thread I come across on 2Peas/Refupeas, if you really want to enhance your enjoyment some more, it is worth googling 'Guardian' and the mad men episode you are interested in, and a fab blog, with very insightful comments from avid fans will come up. Tom and Lorenzo's blog on the Mad fashions is really worth a read too, as the colours, styles and patterns often have a hidden meaning once you've learnt the code. I'm watching the first 5 series again as I bought them on Blue-ray, but it is taking me forever as I watch the episode, then watch again with the director's commentary.

DH and I binge-watched all 6 seasons recently, then caught up with the first half of the last season last week. I was disappointed in the season 7 writing but that just makes it easier to let go, lol! I've really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

Thanks so much for those photos of the dolls. I'm also a newcomer to watching the show-didn't start watching it until a few months ago and then binge watched all of the seasons on Netflix. I loved the first few seasons-such excellent writing and character development. And then the writing just fizzled out-I wondered about that and now I know thanks to this thread it's because AMC didn't finance a production budge.
I did continue to watch because I love seeing the styles of clothing and the incredible attention to detail that is on that show. There are fashions and products that I remember having in my house or using that I've long forgotten pop up on the show-that is such fun!
Although the show has really declined from the strong story development of the first 3-4 seasons, I'm still interested enough to see how it all turns out, so I'll be watching along with all of you.
Debbie in MD.

^^^^^ what Birukitty said. Love Mad Men and want to see how it wraps up during these last episodes. But the writing has gotten weaker the last couple of seasons, and probably good that this will be the last season.

I really enjoyed it. Don seemed so troubled last night. Will this cause him to reevaluate his life, or just bang more women? I think he will just bang more women.

So did Roger pay that waitress $100 for sex at the beginning of the episode and then Don gave her another $100 for sex later? Or did the waitress only have sex with Don because she thought she owed him for the $100 tip Roger gave earlier and he was there to collect?
And am I correct that that is the mom of the Cullen family from Twilight?

I knew I had seen her somewhere the way I saw it, Roger left the $100 for being an ass but when Don came back, she thought the $100 was for sex and that he was there to collect.

scrappinmomma----LOL !!! The actress who played the waitress....I know her from something ELSE, and it's bugging me, then I was trying to figure out if she was from another season of this show... . I didn't understand ANYthing about the whole story with that-----and the tip Roger left never entered my mind as a factor of her and Don's alley sex.... Am I the only one who rewound that scene where Teddy is in full 70's hair/clothese when he opens the door, then it was Pete.... ....annnnd, why did they spend so much time on Rachel's sister and Don feeling awkward at the shiva? ETA.....Okay...I just read "Tom & Lorenzo" and allll my questions are answered!!!! Oh, and I can't stand that song "Is That All There Is" .....!

For the most part last night was more of the same, Don "missed the flight".
Again, the nostalgia, brings me back and the female characters, Peggy, Joan and Betty are more interesting.

THANK YOU! I could not figure out where I recognized her from. I was a little disappointed in Don - not the show - last night. I was hoping for maybe some personal growth, but he seems to be backsliding big time. I am hopeful for Peggy though

I have the Joan Barbie I loved the episode, I just love lust after Jon Hamm. I've been a MM fan since the beginning and am sad to see it end. I have no idea what they are going to do to wrap it up but I know it will be good.

I checked out that blog and WOW! I'm hooked! I miss a lot when I watch the show and learn so much by going to blogs to find out what everything means. The show is much better for me after I do that! Reading about the colors etc and the meanings, well now I want to rewatch the show starting with the first season and read this blog after every episode. I never realized that fashion had so many underlying meanings too!!! TOM & LORENZO
