Since Easter's origin is a pagan, moon-calendar, spring fertility celebration, it wouldn't be right to have the Easter Bunny be a male. I say the Easter Bunny has to be a girl, and Peter Cottontail is an imposter.

I'm going with male because every animated kid's Easter show depicts the Easter Bunny as a male, and that's good enough for me!

Ooooohhhhhh...I've never even considered this!!?! I'm going to say male only because of everyone else's responses and about Peter Cottontail. But still..my mind is completely blown. No sarcasm at all..

My 15 yr old says the Easter bunny is a feminine male Ahhh, there is nothing like a teenager to come up with the unexpected.

This is a trick question because of all those other threads, isn't it? The Easter Bunny is female dressed as a male person. She is a transspecies *transsexual bunny. Her close cousin works at Playboy. Maybe you've seen her? EDIT...EDIT...EDIT....EDIT....EDIT....EDIT....EDIT... *The Easter Bunny is a transgendered transspecies bunny.

I find it fascinating that the two biggest fun and gift bearing figures of childhood mythology are considered males yet it is the mama it the typical family that makes sure the gifts and childhood magic happen. I do realize there are families were dad fills the more typical mom role.
I think that is why my mom referred to the EB in both pronouns and encouraged an imagery of many bunnies participating in the spring rituals.

The hens do all the work of laying the eggs, and the male bunny takes all the credit for them. Real nice, Easter Bunny. Jerk.

Ours mostly lay brown but one lays greenish blue and our little girl lays cream colored mini eggs. We still dyed them though and they turned out lovely jewel tones!

DH and i disagree. He says female because it brings eggs. A male would bring nuts. lololol! hahahha! that's so funny.
thanks for the late night giggle.
But I think of Easter bunny as male also. This thread reminded me of a picture I have of DD1 when she was 18-19 months old, posing with said bunny who had very long eyelashes. (maybe to make bunny look friendly?)

I've seen male and female Easter bunnies. They both have one thing in common - they're all creepy looking!
